At some point, Maxxie resolves that the only way to shake off the bad case of creeps he seems to have contracted from the awful party at the beginning of the month is to hold yet another party at the end of the month. Halfway through the month he decides that he has enough cash to pull off something truly epic, and so begin the lengthy process of spreading the word about Maxxie's Super Amazing and Truly Spectacular New Year's Eve Party.
THE PENTHOUSE [OPEN TO FLASHSTEP + VISITORS]
I
Maxxie's version of 'running it by the guys' is to tell them something along the lines of "hey, I'm throwing a party later, you wanna go?" and to let them ask about details, none of which he has actually sorted out yet. It's actually pretty important to him to make sure they all feel ahead of the game as far as invites go, so he doesn't even post to twitter before he mentions it to each of his band mates first. He wants them all to know that they're more than welcome at his party, and he wants to make sure they all feel okay with it too whether they come or not. It's not necessarily their thing and he knows that, but he'd like them all to be there just the same.
II
The following weeks in the penthouse involve a lot of phone tennis with everything Maxxie's trying to arrange for the party, and he even has to get firm with a couple people when they try to haggle him up to an unfair price. There actually may be a few arguments to be had, which Maxxie doesn't always keep to his room. After every one of these particularly difficult phone calls that he sighs heavily, collapses onto the nearest comfortable surface, and asks himself:
"Why have I done this?"
VISTA CITY [OPEN TO ALL]
There are, of course, a few errands that Maxxie has to run in person. Payments this big usually have to be done in person, so a driver from Pride's security team ferries him around to get it all done. He has to stop in at liquor stores, catering companies, and to the night club he plans to rent out a few times to talk out plans. It's generally exhausting work, but Maxxie loves being out and about and it shows from the bounce in his step. He even gets to take a couple breaks in a couple cofffee shops, during which he's texting away on his phone trying to organize some other thing for the event or he's writing out a to do list by hand so he doesn't forget it all. And occasionally, very occasionally, he's just relaxing, having a sip of coffee as he stares out the window and daydreams about how damn good his party is going to be.

PENTHOUSE, II
Of course, that's not taking into account the process of actually setting the whole thing up. B wanders into the room purely by coincidence, then heads over to prop his elbows on the couch and lean over to peer at Maxxie.
"'Cuz you're crazy, probably. You alright?"

"Just trying to organize all the booze and the prices they're giving me are total bullshit... throwing a party's supposed to be fun, right?"
no subject
"Have you tried the whole taking-our-business-elsewhere thing? I've heard that'll get through to 'em." It does in movies, anyway.

Then he straightens up, grinning. "I could try, though!"

Maxxie looks like he's genuinely considering asking him to do it, but then he shakes his head. "Nah, I can do it all myself, it's just getting everyone to do it so soon. I got the club rented out, but I wanna make sure the bar was stocked and the bartender's getting all upset about the brands 'cause I wanted to get them cheaper, and I only wanted to get them cheaper so I could get more, and..."
He stops like he's run out of steam, then looks up at B bashfully. "Sorry, I'm rambling, I know."

B steps around the couch to sit down in whatever space Maxxie isn't already occupying. "This sounds pretty complicated, though, like holy crap."
no subject
"It's all gonna be worth it, though. Are you coming?"

Says B, who doesn't even remotely know the whole situation.
"Glad to hear you're clearly making good use of it, though."

His grin stays in place, but gets... just a little strained for a moment. Almost more like a grimace. He was lucky enough to get out of that with not much more than a few bruises, but...
"I think this'll do pretty well for that."
Assuming nobody tries to pull anything else, but he trusts Maxxie to take that possibility into account.

"There'll be an army's worth of body guards there, according to Manny, and that's just from Pride. The club has its regular security too, and I've heard anyone from Virgo has a detail following them around if they leave the building just like us. So we'll be safe enough, I think."
no subject
"Sounds like a plan. I mean, it probably won't even be necessary," he adds, because the last thing he wants is for Maxxie to be freaking out over the risk of something going wrong. "But it's a good idea."

And the smile is back, B leaning over to nudge Maxxie. "I'm sure it's gonna be great! You've got this worked out, man."

He can see why Maxxie would be concerned after the last party they went to, but no way is he letting him get bogged down worrying about that.
