006 ✽ Get Down
Who: As many people in Virgo HQ as Luce can grab
What: The best way to get to know new people is over breakfast, didn't you know?
When: A nice cheery morning a vague time in January after everyone's newbies have met their band
Where: The Flower Over Bones penthouse
Warnings: None planned! Feel free to treat this as a mingle log
The first month Luce arrived at Virgo HQ, she didn't waste any time before establishing some sort of lunch everyone could get together at. As January drags on, it's something she finds herself thinking about as new faces fill up the gaps where she had known others.
It's part of the reasons why, one early morning, she can be found bustling to all the other band penthouses to deliver a simple invitation she makes sure everyone gets to hear: a breakfast taking place in the FoB house for all Virgo musicians.
FoB penthouse looks like a lot of the other bands, with some clutter here and there that fits its inhabitants including a small dartboard with various articles about the members pinned there with shuriken. The television is playing what seems to be an early day sci-fi movie marathon and there's already a pretty impressive spread of pancakes, waffles, french toast, and various cut up fruit for people to dig into.

Doctor (Flowers Over Bones) OTA
Luce's co-lead is in on the cooking action at the start of the event. Doctor darts between the counter and stove, prepping ingredients, throwing them into pans, and serving up the final results.
"Does any one want a pancake in a specific shape?" he asks as the newest arrivals arrive.

Even at a relaxing breakfast music is on Doctor's mind. After he finishes eating he disappears into his bedroom for a moment to fetch and instrument. Instead of his regular cello, he returns with an accordion in his arms and he starts playing some light-hearted tunes between and at times during conversations.

A few minutes later after some concise batter drawing with the condiments bottle, and a few flips of the pancake, he presents a pancake that indeed, looks very much like a poinsettia, accompanied by some ornate heart pancakes for good measure.

"Enjoy," he says with a smile and a nod as he slides a plate of pancakes to her a few minutes later. "I'm Doctor by the way, Luce's co-lead for Flowers Over Bones."

She takes the plate over to the fruit spread and returns a few minutes later. Strawberries and whipped cream have been sparingly but artfully arranged around the pancakes, and she's drizzled raspberry syrup carefully over the hearts. "There! Perfect." Definitely Instagram-worthy. She takes a photo, considers it, rotates the plate slightly, takes another one, and nods in approval, turning her phone for the Doctor to view it. "Would you like to be tagged in this?"

He waits until the tune is finished and claps in a way that is deliberately too slow.
"That's great," he says, raising his voice a little, "please don't do it again."
no subject
"All right. I won't," he says simply and begins to play a different tune. This one more advanced and dramatic than the happy tune he was playing a moment ago. The accordion arguably sounds almost like an organ when playing such tune.
no subject
"Thanks," he says, willing to accept the compromise - even smiling, like he'd never been rude before. "The pancakes aren't bad, by the way."

He rattles his brain and places Cloud's face. "Nuclear Parliament's new pianist, right?"

"Luce cooks and bakes when she's stressed, and I learned to cook from my parents. They weren't half bad it turns out. I didn't know the difference until I started living with the band. I ate their cooking all the time after all. Thankfully Pao-Lin has a healthy appetite so none of it goes to waste."
If Cloud has heard rumors about Flowers Over Bones having a young hungry girl in their ranks, it's very true. Not the food competition eating part though.

He squirms a little under Doctor's eyes. Cloud wasn't without a certain amount of personal presence of his own, but this man seems to be the type who could see a little further than most. He grabs at his elbow with his other hand, a little defensive.
"Let me have a go on it," Cloud says, gesturing towards the accordion - he's never played one before, but it's his best stab at impressing him.

A.) Room for one more?
[...Yes. a triangle. The Doctor may not have even been addressing Bill Cipher initially, but the Illuminati saxiphone player invites himself into the conversation anyway. He flashes a quick smile.]
"You're Flower over Bones, Doctor, right? Nice pad you got here."
There's always room for one more!
Yes, thank you! You're the saxophonist from Vandalism in Progress- Bill isn't it?
[ Doctor starts up that triangle pancake and uses the batter to draw in a bow tie on it for kicks. ]

it must have something to do with practically being older than time itself.]"That's right; Bill Cipher! You're a smart cookie, Doc."
[He would shake your hand, but yours are obviously preoccupied doing something. Bill's eye lights up at the little extra addition Doctor added to his pancake, he laughs.]
"And it looks like you've got good taste to boot!"

[Bill wastes no time diving into the batter-made good, taking up his own small corner of the counter-space rather than leaving. This conversations just a little too interesting to go meandering off just yet. He grins, twirling a forkful.]
"So! You and Luce are both co-lead right? You and the Holy Mother of Bass must go way back?"
no subject
[ Doctor sets the spatula aside for the time and turns off the stove. He deserved a break after all that pancake art, and he starts by helping himself to a glass of orange juice. ]

Bill chuckles, having to swallow his remaining pancake down before he finished speaking-- though not for lack of trying.
"Yeah, can't say I knew much of ViP before I shacked up with Virgo's establishment either. We only met a few weeks, shortly before this little incident--"
He taps his eye-patch emphatically.
"Anyway! Right or hilaaariously wrong, you have to hand it to the tabloids and their creativity for what they don't know."
