☆A Little Little Fun



On the morning of the 24th, the sun rises over Vista City and, more importantly, Archer Park- a series of rooftop parks connected to each other by bridges and overflowing greenery of all sorts. It's a popular on most days to start with. Today, however, is the day of the Double S Charity Concert. Thus, it's more packed than usual.

One of the park "islands" is home to a concert stage, and that is where the concert is taking place. All throughout the next couple of days, various musicians will perform songs they've written about or dedicated to another in the industry. With the entertainment value of the idea and the fame of the musicians, of course the place is packed.

The stage is where every musician will end up at throughout the day, performing for the masses, but behind it is also a rest area for them to either bide their time or just hang out. It's supposed to be restricted to just those musicians participating, but frankly... security is lax just enough that bandmates and the such could duck on in to see their friends. No fans, however, sorry. It's not the most impressive of places, with seating areas and a salad bar and all the pizza that could possibly be ordered, but hopefully it's good enough. This is also where one can find event organizer Jenny around, in case they need to bring anything up.

Of course, no one is required to stay back there while waiting their turn, or after they've done their performance. Attempts to raise money go beyond just the concert. Double S has all sorts of stalls set up, whether to explain to people the various causes they can specifically pledge support to, or to sell merchandise. Can't forget the food stalls. There is, of course, a stall showing adoptable animals. There always is.

Finally, there's one last thing Double S has set up for any willing celebrities. It's a meet-and-greet area for the fans, where they have the chance to meet their favorite musicians. Giving out autographs, taking pictures with fans... There's even a karaoke set up for everyone to use. Musicians can sing solo, or with others from their label, or even with a lucky fan. AKA feel free to get NPC MP here. Hopefully, it'll get some good publicity for those interested in that kind of thing.

Tickets have been made astonishingly cheap in the hopes that more people will show, with anything else being made up by merchandise sales or donations.

Greg Universe - "Augury" for Mai

[ Mr. Universe has reclaimed his guitar for this performance, and traded out his usual ragged rocker look for a dark hooded robe and dramatic eye makeup. His excited energy for performing in front of a big audience again is practically physical, but for the sake of the look he restrains it to a sneer into the mic. ]

Are you all having a magical time? [A low chuckle.] Then let's see if you're ready for her.

[ The song's a loud, bombastic one, and the light show kicks off strong as soon as he starts laying in with his guitar. Mr. Universe always puts a lot of zeal into his performances, and this one's no exception. The first words come out as a roar, accented by an impressive feat of pyrotechnics behind him. And this is just the start. ]

[ Around the halfway point, his wizard cloak begins to bellow in wind--probably from hidden fans--before he starts hovering a good foot or so off the ground. Wow, amazing. You can't even see the strings. And wow, the fashion mags are going to be all over figuring how he seamlessly turned that basic black cloak into the dramatic white robe.

After the last note, he vanishes in one last impressive burst of stage-filling smoke. What a showman.

Meanwhile, stagehands are trying to figure out who authorized half of that, because all they have in their records is the lights. Backstage, Greg's keeping a low profile and trying his very best to look normal in this new outfit that came out of nowhere. He needs to calm down and catch his breath before going out to meet with fans. Oh god he's gonna die. ]

[Well, here's someone who is...concerned about what just happened. It takes some time, but, finally, she spots him.

He's probably got some explaining to do, because she didn't see any wires.]

Hey! Greg!

[ He's taken some time to calm down, or at least put up a good front for it. A plate loaded with snacks is in his hands, like usual, though he's only picking at it. Things are fine. It's just a show.

Greg grins at Garnet, waving. ]

Garnet! Yo! Neat event, right?

Yeah, real neat.

[...She might look at his plate. Aaand might look like she wants a bit.]

...So, how'd you do that? The...floating...

[ He helpfully holds it out for her. Sharing is caring. ]

Uh. Hah! Neat trick, right? I don't really get how the wires and stuff work, myself, but.

[ He glances around. You know how it is, Garnet. ]

[She takes a few snacks off of his plate, also looking around.]

It practically...looked like magic.

[ He laughs a bit louder than he needs to. ]

That's what the song was about after all! Ah ha. They say I do magical stuff with the guitar, why not up the ante...

Yeah, yeah.

[At this, she leans in and her voice lowers.]

Greg...you know you need to be careful, right? If they figure out you've got those...back...ish...maybe...

[ He looks away, swallowing hard. ]

I know, I know... I can't stop it, it just starts happening whenever I...

[ It's not like he could simply quit playing. ]

[Oh look who's catching you backstage, Greg!]

...You know, the odds that you would get the other Ice Queen are very low. Do you think it was truly a coincidence?

[ With how much Meril likes watching Greg on stage, she might notice his usual post-performance energy is a little more jittery than standard. Still, he greets her warmly with a quick kiss. ]

Same odds as anyone else. Though I've seen the tabloids reach further for their drama.

[Oh. Well, she returns that, but not without turning red in the process.]

That was a very remarkable performance. I did not realize we could get so many stage effects here, or I might have arranged for a laser or something.

[ He wraps an arm around her, smiling. ]

Eheh. The tech people around here are capable of some crazy stuff. You go on in a little while, don't you?

I do. [This she has no problem with; after all, she's spent a month or so sprawling on him or vice versa just for comfort. So she steps into him a little.] I do. I admit I am a bit nervous about actually singing in front of an audience. You have seen how it is for me.

I have. [ It was certainly something else. ] You'll do fine, I know it. Once you get into the music, you can forget the crowd, and it'll be just you up there, killing it.

It will be a very different image than they are used to seeing from me. I am a bit worried about the results. Perhaps it would just be best if no one noticed...

I dunno what the odds are of that. [ He can't pretend it won't be a shock to some people. ] I think most people will get curious. It's good to remind people there's more than what's going on on the surface.

[Wow, Mr. Universe got a lot younger all of a sudden.

Frisk is honestly more puzzled by this than all the floating and pyrotechnics. Did the kidnappers do that? How does being younger make him a better musician? It's all about personality anyway; look at Mettaton.

By the time the meet-and-greet rolls around, they've put all their confusion away again. They're actually tagging along with some other woman's kids, pausing after the other two get their signatures from Greg. Heedless of the fact that their apparent family is leaving them behind, they gesture for Greg to lean down to hear them better.]

I came. [Just like they said they would, remember?]

[panspermia]

[ Apparent family wandering off without one of theirs already strikes him as odd, but if the kid isn't bothered by it, Greg won't fuss. Already he's intrigued enough to lean in and listen with a curious smile.

An eyebrow quirks at the enigmatic statement. Kids can be a bit weird to figure out sometimes. ]

Glad you made it.

[ His grin is genuine, but there's no recognition in it. Meeting young fans is always exciting. ]

[determinate]

[At this point? Not even surprising.

Frisk realizes it's a bit odd for them to show up to this celebrity meet-and-greet with nothing to sign and no signs of excitement. It's just hard to get hyped about this. They go the other way instead, pulling out a Non-Torn Notebook to hand to Greg.]

You too. How are you?

Glad to be on stage again.

[ Maybe someone else in the kid's family is a bigger fan and they got dragged along? That's fair. He still happily signs the notebook, naturally adding a big star at the end. ]

It's been too long since I got to see you all in person.

[determinate]

[Frisk takes it back and scans it thoughtfully for a moment. He seems to really fit into all this. They wonder what his real life is like.

They nod in response.] Don't stay in too much.

[panspermia]

[ This kid's strange. The really interesting kind of strange. He considers them for a moment, before tapping two fingers to his temple in a brief salute. ]

Don't you worry, I've filled my quota. They couldn't keep me in anymore if they tried.

[determinate]

[Frisk considers Greg seriously, then nods. He looks happier than he did in the dream. Being outside instead of surrounded by piles of junk probably helps.]

Don't let them hurt you. [Don't kill, and don't be killed. For him, they suspect the latter advice is more important.

[ Up to this point the comments have been strange, a little stilted, but hardly the strangest Greg's gotten from fans. With this, they push straight up through "enigmatic" and right into "uncanny." ]

Um.

[ Greg's grin flickers, eyebrows knitting together. There's too many people around for him to react like he wants to, but his poker face has always been wanting. ]
