'Cause I'm Lonely and I'm Blue
Who: Frisk, Connie, Greg, Papyrus, and Sans
What: Rescuers rescue the kidnapped rescuer of kidnapped
When: April 20
Where: Wave Boulevard Mall, Spooky Virgo Torture Dungeon
Warnings: mention of serious violence at the least
It's been a week since Sans smuggled his fellow musicians from Virgo, contacted allies to let them know he was leaving... and then evidently vanished altogether. It's been two days since articles surfaced talking about his wild bender that ended him up in rehab, and isn't it a shame, let's all keep him in our thoughts.
Sans didn't ever have a whole lot of fans. The guy kept to himself, rarely made appearances, and generally only performed just well enough to justify being in the band in the first place. His legacy would likely be the toc-tic pun memes that would go around for a couple weeks, then fade out into obscurity. People wouldn't miss him.
It's pretty much all that's been on Greg's mind. His friend made a heroic effort, and paid for it. It's his fault. But life goes on, right?
So here he is. Buying flowers for his bedroom. To liven the place up, you know? Add some color, to contrast the blackened char left behind by giant laser blasts. It'll really brighten things up.

[COMING SOON TO A THREAD NEAR YOU]

Hi, Papyrus. Are you still at the house?
no subject
[The literal call, in this case. Papyrus finishes stirring the sauce, and surreptitiously offers Lion another piece of the grilled chicken before taking the call.]
Connie! Hello! Yes, I'm still at... Are we calling it a house now? I am at home, anyway.
no subject
[Important rescuer duties must be remembered! Priorities, and stuff.]
May I speak to Lion, please? It's important.
no subject
I'll pass the phone to---well, I'll hold it for him!
Lion, Connie wants to talk to you.
[There's scuffling sounds as Papyrus pulls his communicator off his head, and holds it close to Lion's face. That's... good enough, right?]
no subject
Lion, we need you to come over to the mall in one of the alleys or something, right away! We need to rescue someone, but we can't do it without your help! I have Lion Lickers. Well, they're kind of like it, anyway.
[Lion's ears flick up, and he pushes himself up to his feet. In a totally normal way, his eyes start to glow.]
[Connie's voice is still buzzing through the communicator.]
Lion? Um, Papyrus? Is Lion listening?
no subject
[Then Connie's question comes over, and Lion seems to have no intention of answering, so he lifts the communicator back to his head.]
Is 'glowing' a form of listening? Because you said something, and he started glowing.
[In a totally normal way. Glowing. As lions do.]
no subject
[Just as fine as when he turns around and gives a roar, rings of energy flowing out to make a glowing portal in the living room.]
[You know. As lions do.]
[Instead of just taking off, however, Lion patiently turns around and gently places his teeth onto Papyrus' shirt. Hey. Buddy. Guess where you're going?]
no subject
[The more things change, the more they stay the same. It's almost reassuring, how Lion's eyes glow like that when he's doing some kind of magic. So many peoples' eyes glow when they're using super cool attacks.]
[Teeth in his shirt is not even slightly reassuring.]
Hey! Don't rip that! I altered that design myself!
[Lion's just going to drag him to the portal, isn't he? Don't worry too much about any yelping, Connie, everything is fine.]
no subject
[Except suddenly Lion has leaped through the portal, dragging one skeleton with him, and Connie jerks back. UM.]
Lion! You weren't supposed to bring Papyrus!
no subject
Augh! That was worse than when Sans does it!
[He sits up a little, glancing around them. If they're in a secret alleyway, it's not a complete disaster. And he can always try to hide behind Lion.]
no subject
Uhh. You--uh. Are you.... okay?
no subject
[Papyrus jumps a little at the unfamiliar voice, and a little more at the unfamiliar face. Well, not unfamiliar, that's... one of the musicians?!? In the alleyway? With Connie?!?]
I mean! I am just fine! Just... taking my lion for a walk... As humans do. Because, I am clearly a human! Nothing to worry about here.
[There's a lot of stories in the news about the musicians doing drugs. Can he convince this guy that he's just seeing things?]
no subject
[Ugh, this is not how things were supposed to go at all! Connie groans and goes over to make vague 'calm down' gestures at Papyrus.]
It's fine, it's okay! Greg knows, you can trust him. He... [She bites her lip.] He knows Sans.
no subject
Uh--yeah! Yeah. It's cool, I'm, I'm cool. [ So cool. ] Sans and I, we were... friends. [He hopes they still are, but he's not sure. ]
You're... like Sans? A monster...? [ That's the word he used, right? ]
no subject
[He'd almost forgotten. Sans doesn't remember him, and wouldn't have mentioned his very cool brother, and it's very distressing for everyone. He takes a deep breath, resettles himself, and continues his introduction.]
W-well. I guess he wouldn't have mentioned me, all things considered. But! Although the resemblance may be very faint... He is my brother!
no subject
["Do you have a family, Sans?"
"Not really."
Sans has a brother. He has a brother, a family. And Virgo took that from him. Like they had with Greg and Steven. Sans has a brother, and he's here to save him.
Something swells in Greg's chest. He firmly takes Papyrus' bony hand, and gives it a hearty, warm shake. ]
I'm so glad I finally get to meet you.
no subject
[Connie hangs in the background, relieved that everything is turning out fine save for the big glaring elephant in the room. Lion yawns, reminding them that they're on short time, and she takes a breath.]
Papyrus, we found Greg because... We wanted to find out what happened to Sans. We think we have an idea of where he is, but it's in Virgo, so, that's why I called for Lion.
no subject
Y-you know where Sans is?!? And you're going to search for him now?
[There's nothing like the end of fearful anticipation to let a person realize how much it'd been weighing them down. Papyrus bounces in place, looking between them and Lion.]
Oh my god! I can't wait to see him again!
no subject
I... I have an idea. He got caught up in some heavy stuff.
[ Stuff that's Greg's fault. ]
I dunno what security'll be like, either. It... if you get caught, it won't be pretty.
[ Seriously, he's the one at least risk here. Not that he expects any of them to back down, but he wants to make sure they know. ]
no subject
[At least, she's as prepared as she can be. Connie just knows that she can't stay still and silent if she knows she can help someone. It's only right to try her best.]
I'm sure that with all of us working together, we'll be able to get him out and things will be alright!
no subject
Yes, what Connie said!
[As for what Greg is ominously hinting at...]
Believe me. I know the risks... are probably worse than I can even imagine!
But the risk of sitting back, and doing nothing, is so much worse. There's nobody else looking out for him! It has to be us!
