☆THE FESTIVAL

Welcome to the South Vista Music Fest! An enormous, weeklong festival with hundreds of bands performing nearly 24/7, the Music Fest is a quarter annual event that celebrates all manners of local talent, both big time and small time. Every band from Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment will have performances to do, including the freshly recruited – you better have your act together, because now is your time to shine!

Player bands will be performing roughly once a day, with bands from the first app round predominantly with evening slots and the newest bands with predominantly afternoon slots. There is definitely a hierarchy to the scheduling - Pride and Virgo claim almost all of the prime performance times, while other labels are forced to deal with the leftovers. You've definitely been chosen by the winners of the music industry in these parts, that's for sure.

Shuttles will be available to take people back to their relative HQs in their downtime, but they're also allowed to hang out and enjoy the festivities if that's what they prefer. Stuff is happening all day and night, so it's really just a question of how much you can party while still being conscious for your own show. Your managers will tell you that the company CEOs pay extra close attention to this event, so that you need to be on your best behaviour.

The festival takes up a massive amount of floor area with multiple stages of various sizes and a large amount of glowy display screens. It's set up on the ground floor of the cityscape, meaning that the suspension roads and walkways above have been programmed to add to the ambient lighting all day and night.

► TRAILER PARK KIDS: For those that just want to chill, there is a massive VIP area reserved for labels to park various trailers for their musicians to hang out in during downtime - one for each band. They aren't quite as big as the tour buses, but they are comfortable and well stocked. Each is equipped with two beds and a bathroom/shower. Pretty much every local band you know of is here, including the notorious Predator. Nose around their trailer at your own risk.

► IN THE SPOTLIGHT: With at least six performances in a span of six days, there is plenty of time for shenanigans to go down both back and center stage. Time to show your mettle, and to hope that some asshole doesn't take all the best food items from the backstage catering tables before you can get to them.

► ATMOSPHERIC NOISE: If you dare brave the storm, there is a massive quantity of merch, vendor, and food booths available for your perusal. Many fans endeavor to spend as much time at Music Fest as possible, and so the space is very lived in, with large groups of people hanging out in well populated lounge areas. Depending on how popular you are, it may be difficult to get around without getting swarmed by your fans.

► DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER: And all the while, the strange memories continue. The label's newest members will have started to feel strange as of November 6th, and by the time of the Fest almost all of them will be discovering their first memories regains. The first one should be based on the alignment you chose, but the rest can be whatever you want. New character may regain up to 4 memories between their arrival and the end of November.

{Haru might be part of her own band now, but it definitely doesn't mean she's any less of a fan of the bands she was following before she got her break. She's trying to keep it a little quietly because she doubts Virgo would be super happy about her frequenting Pride's concerts.

This moment though, it's definitely worth all the trouble she could be in.

It's impossible that Lucifer could see her and be singing to her-- Haru knows how bright the lights are up there-- but it feels like she it anyway, and that's wonderful all on it's own.}

[Hell yes she's singing to the cute girl ten rows back, and she is definitely grinning wickedly when she realizes that this girl doesn't think it's her and thinks Luci can't see her.]

[So she winks.]

{Oh gawd that's a wink.

Lucifer's probably winked at the crowd a million times, Haru, don't get so excited.

She's thrilled right down the tips of her neon painted toes. She knows her whole face is red and if the music wasn't so loud she definitely would have been noticed with the sound she makes.

But what if she got to meet her one day?! It's not that far fetched and if she can see Haru, isn't just playing for the crowd--Oh goodness it would be so embarrassing but so damn worth it.}

[Still no swoon? G-O-D, she's not on her game tonight, is she? Well, far be it from Luci to give up and leave someone unsatisfied-- she has to bring out the big guns.]

[She catches Xanxus and Yuffie's eyes before she does that thing she does sometimes: parting the sea. Luci steps out onto the crowd, singing her lungs out, commanding them to move her above them-- and they do.]

Run, baby, run

[And she's coming for you, cute blushing girl.]

{She should be escaping right about now, shouldn't she? There's gotta be someone filming this, she's going to get recognized. She doesn't give a fuck.

All Haru cares about is the fear she's been feeling the past few days, the paranoia and grief for no reason at all, and the way she's singing right to it.

She doesn't swoon, but her eyes well up and she reaches out, still blushing, still utterly entranced.}

[Oh precious cinnamon roll, Luci didn't want you to cry.]

[But she loves it anyway, like the terrible human she is. Once the crowd brings her close enough, she crouches down on the hands of the crowd and reaches back towards her.]

Let me hear it!! [Luci shouts into her mic, and the audience handles the next line while Luci has her personal chat:]

['Nothing is fair!']

Hey, come by the Carnie trailer later. Tell security you're there to see Luci.

[She catches one of the girl's tears on her thumb, licks it off and stands back up just in time to pick up the next line of the song:]

You can still make them stare!

RUN, BABY, RUN--!

{Oh shit.

Haru's in too deep. How did this even happen? She's not even in that much neon right now and she's so plain compared to others in the crowd. Why was she noticed?

Lucifer touches her and licks her tears. Haru is done for, absolutely slain. She's already planning the mass text to her band telling them not to worry if she's out late.

This is going to be so much trouble and its going to hurt, but maybe Bolin will get a girlfriends or something for a couple of days and no one will notice what she's doing. She's just a percussionist.}

[Who knows? Could be that Luci sensed something about her, could be dumb luck. Either way, she acts on her whims and right now this adorable fan is her whim.]

[She walks over the crowd back to the stage and finishes the song. Then comes the encore, and then the next band is on and Luci returns to her trailer. Thankfully she manages to score the space to herself for the moment, so she just waits, curious if she's going to actually have company.]

{It takes a little while for Haru to fight massive crowd Junkyard Carnival draws, and a little more time she spends fidgeting and wondering if she she actually go or not. She's not kidding anyone, though, she fires off a simple text letting Celty know not to expect her for a while if not longer.

Getting by security isn't difficult with her own band pass and cute smile, then she's knocking softly on the trailer door.}

[Luci smiles to herself when she hears the quiet, shy knock and goes to the door. Security around her had been a little tighter since she'd almost keeled over earlier in the day, but apparently there hadn't been a problem.]

[She opens the door-- she's out of her performance clothes now and in a half-buttoned white shirt and white jeans. She loved their costumes, but they were not meant to be napped in by a longshot.]

You made it. [Luci blinks when she sees the band pass, then smirks. Well isn't this a twist?] Guess I didn't have to worry about you getting past the muscle. Come on in.

I didn't think you'd realized I was a performer, too.

{Haru laughs lightly and follows her in.}

I really enjoyed your new set. The addition of Xanxus's vocals with your own is going to be a fantastic hit, I think.

Shame on me-- usually I'm better informed. [She smiles and closes the door behind the girl. Luci and Yuffie keep an eye on up and coming bands together, so that if/when they're signed to a producer they can keep their fingers on the pulse of the industry without having to dig back too much.]

I admit, he does have something I don't have-- an Adam's apple. [Luci smirks and goes to the little kitchenette to check out what's stocked.] If only getting him to sing was as easy as saying 'fantastic hit'. So which band are you signed to? And possibly more importantly, what's your name?

{She smiles and flips her badge showing the Virgo logo.}

I'm on the other team, and completely out of your genre, too.

{Haru leans against one of the walls in the small space and watches Luci openly. It's different when she's not onstage. Haru feels steadier, less a victim of the irresistible charisma performing creates.}

Right-- that's right! [Luci grins and points briefly at Haru.] Don't you always wear wigs or something?

[Apparently she is not at all bothered by the fact that Haru is 'on the other team'. She teamed up with Doctor for a one-off track during the lockdown, they made something cool, why get wrapped up in politics above her pay grade?]

I do often make my own costumes and light them up in neon. I've got to do something to catch eyes.

{She's cute on an everyday level, but on the scale of celebrities she's hardly noticeable with brown hair and eyes.}

Which makes me wonder, how did you see me tonight? I know how bright the lights are.

Presence, darling, presence. [She finds a bag of chips and some flavored bottles of vodka-beverage or something (seriously who stocked their trailer, they should be fired), and holds them out in offering to Haru.]

It's not hard to see someone who's getting something out of what we do. They don't scream, or reach when they know they couldn't possibly touch-- they're focused on the moment.

Is harder to produce when you're not in the front of the stage, and you're short to begin with. {Haru argues with her while laughing. She'll never be jealous of the attention Bolin gets paid as the lead. She's counting on it, after all, to distract everyone else tonight.}

Thank you. {She takes one of the drinks and cracks it open. Considering Sans's moment before one of their performances Haru has been pretty conscious of her consumption of anything except sweets, but she can indulge tonight.}

We knows we're doing well when our crowd is literally swing dancing. So that's a new concept for me. It makes perfect sense, though. I was feeling rather connected to your music.

Then I guess I did well tonight-- [Luci smirks and twists open one of the sweet vodka drinks, visibly grimacing as she tries to choke it down. So much sugar...]

If your audience is dancing though, obviously you're doing something. You're the beat the rest of the band needs to function. [Luci turns and sits on one of the beds-- whether Haru sits with her or on the one across is entirely up to her.] I think you're tearing yourself down before you even give yourself a chance.

More than well.

{A little cautiously, Haru crosses the small space and sits next to Luci. She tips the bottle back and drinks with ease. Her veins are laced with sugar.}

Maybe! I was on the internet so long, I guess it still feels like I'm second tier entertainment sometimes. But that's---

{She waves her free hand through the air brushing that topic away.}

It is-- [Luci makes the same gesture, but with her bottle in her hand.] You've made it to Virgo, that's not anything to sneeze at.

[But this talk of internet does have her curious...] So. I'm guessing from the reaching and the tears that you were a fan before, and not looking at what Pride's offering?

{Haru's grin is wide as she dips her head in acknowledgment.} No, it's pretty big and it means a lot to me.

{The question draws out a smirk.} Why can't I be both? {She can't hold the attitude too long, though.} I was definitely a fan! My curiosity in Pride existed long before I was hired by Virgo. If I can end up using my knowledge professionally...

{She shrugs and takes another drink.}

Mm, I can see why they'd want you. As much as Santiago and Blanche want us at each other's throats, for the most part we interact as individual artists. They probably thought you'd have some kind of 'leg up' on the competition-- which honestly you probably do. I met this one daft bint who had no idea who I was. Of course I knew, Yuffie and I spend loads of time looking at potential scouted talent so we know the lay of the land. It's smarter to know than pretend you're too good to listen to anyone else.

[Luci shifts a little into a more relaxed slouch, her demeanor slipping easily into something less business and more seduction.] Nice to know we have a fan in our midst, though. Always a thrill to meet someone I've inspired in some way. [Whether it be to music or just to dance around in their room with headphones on. Luci reaches up to put a strand of hair that's escaped behind Haru's ear. It's a gentle move, so she can lean away if she doesn't want it.]

Much smarter, I agree, it's also terribly rude not to know of other people in the industry. How would you ever innovate if you never learned anything from others? Your brain would recycle the same things over and over again. You have to experience new things to create new art.

{Haru gets more adamant the more she speaks gesturing with her drink and free hand, clearly exasperated with some of the other people she's met.}

Inspired is a strong word.....{She laughs.} But probably applicable in my case.

{She stills for a moment when Luci reaches for her, but leans into the touch. Her heart's fluttering in her chest. This feels so new and exciting, to be paid such close attention in an intimate way. She knows she's done this before. There wouldn't be so many articles about her if some of them weren't true.

Maybe she does it so often because it always feels like this, so exciting and new every time?

She's trying to remember the last time someone touched her hair, the last time anyone apart from her bandmates touched her, and she can't, but that's probably due more to what a distraction Luci is. She should feel guiltier she can't remember any past partners.}

Ah, but I use it pretty loosely. [Luci smiles, taking that lean to mean that it's okay to touch. There were dozens of articles labeling Luci as a hellraiser, a lawbreaker, and a ruffian-- but she took her intimate relationships very seriously. Consent from start to finish, discussion when needed, encouragement only when wanted.] If someone jumps up and down at one of our concerts, I consider them moved by what we're creating. That's the reason I do this-- to inspire. To give people permission to live freely, even if it's just for one night. To burn a memory into their brains of those few hours where nothing mattered but what they were feeling and thinking. And maybe just one person in every crowd goes home thinking about changing the direction of their life to something they really feel strongly about, but that's enough. I scream not because I don't think anybody can hear me, but because I want them to feel what I'm feeling. Sheer immortality and direction.

[It's true that Luci had partners as often as she changed her underwear, but it wasn't because people bored her quickly or that she thought people were expendable-- she just found something interesting in so many people, it was hard to keep her wants to herself. People were so different and wonderful in their differences-- why have just one when it was so fun to have them all?]

[She ghosted her fingers from behind Haru's ear to her chin, which Luci coaxed up until their eyes met.] I saw you crying, and I felt like you were moved to the point where I wanted to grant you a wish. Do you want one?

{Haru meets Luci's eyes without hesitation. She's thinking about her words, really thinking rather than dismissing them as a tactic to get laid or impress a fan. Luci means them, Haru can tell, even there are other side benefits to her words. No reason they can't serve more than one purpose, after all.

She thinks about the man in the coffin whose face she can't remember, the fear and terror of being on the run, and she sets her drink aside, leaning in with her heart racing in her chest.

This isn't a storybook romance. She'll be lucky if Luci winks at her and speaks with her at other music festivals, but Haru's going to do this anyway.}

Yes. I'd love to have a wish granted.
