☆THE FESTIVAL

Welcome to the South Vista Music Fest! An enormous, weeklong festival with hundreds of bands performing nearly 24/7, the Music Fest is a quarter annual event that celebrates all manners of local talent, both big time and small time. Every band from Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment will have performances to do, including the freshly recruited – you better have your act together, because now is your time to shine!

Player bands will be performing roughly once a day, with bands from the first app round predominantly with evening slots and the newest bands with predominantly afternoon slots. There is definitely a hierarchy to the scheduling - Pride and Virgo claim almost all of the prime performance times, while other labels are forced to deal with the leftovers. You've definitely been chosen by the winners of the music industry in these parts, that's for sure.

Shuttles will be available to take people back to their relative HQs in their downtime, but they're also allowed to hang out and enjoy the festivities if that's what they prefer. Stuff is happening all day and night, so it's really just a question of how much you can party while still being conscious for your own show. Your managers will tell you that the company CEOs pay extra close attention to this event, so that you need to be on your best behaviour.

The festival takes up a massive amount of floor area with multiple stages of various sizes and a large amount of glowy display screens. It's set up on the ground floor of the cityscape, meaning that the suspension roads and walkways above have been programmed to add to the ambient lighting all day and night.

► TRAILER PARK KIDS: For those that just want to chill, there is a massive VIP area reserved for labels to park various trailers for their musicians to hang out in during downtime - one for each band. They aren't quite as big as the tour buses, but they are comfortable and well stocked. Each is equipped with two beds and a bathroom/shower. Pretty much every local band you know of is here, including the notorious Predator. Nose around their trailer at your own risk.

► IN THE SPOTLIGHT: With at least six performances in a span of six days, there is plenty of time for shenanigans to go down both back and center stage. Time to show your mettle, and to hope that some asshole doesn't take all the best food items from the backstage catering tables before you can get to them.

► ATMOSPHERIC NOISE: If you dare brave the storm, there is a massive quantity of merch, vendor, and food booths available for your perusal. Many fans endeavor to spend as much time at Music Fest as possible, and so the space is very lived in, with large groups of people hanging out in well populated lounge areas. Depending on how popular you are, it may be difficult to get around without getting swarmed by your fans.

► DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER: And all the while, the strange memories continue. The label's newest members will have started to feel strange as of November 6th, and by the time of the Fest almost all of them will be discovering their first memories regains. The first one should be based on the alignment you chose, but the rest can be whatever you want. New character may regain up to 4 memories between their arrival and the end of November.

[As soon as she catches sight of whatever Bolin is eating, Pao-Lin shamelessly asks him:]

Ooh, what's that? [And where can she get some?

She's currently dressed in this, but if Bolin caught the Flowers Over Bones performance he might recognize her from the flowery stunt they pulled at the end of their set, to say nothing of the skeleton-themed dress she'd worn then.]

This? The stand said it was chocolate covered cheesecake. [ He takes a bite of his absolutely ridiculous dessert before adding. ] On a stick.

[ It takes him a second to recognize her but then he grins. He'd caught FoB's concert, had even managed to snag one of the paper flowers from their percussion cannons. It got him thinking about what ViP could do to make their performances interactive in the same way. ]

Wow, really?! Then let's do it!

[Not that she's opposed to the idea of taking pictures with someone in the first place. But hey, free food? She's not gonna complain.]

What kinda picture are we doing, a silly one? [Pao-Lin tends to do cutesy pictures, partly because that's what the management wants for her, but dammit, she wants to have (more) fun now that her performance is over.]

Well if you wanna do something silly...

[ He digs into his pant pocket and pulls out a pair of shutter shades that he'd snagged from ViP's merchandise table. ]

You should totally wear these.

[Pao-Lin takes them delicately in both hands, holding them out to study their glowiness.]

These are from your table, right? I was thinking about getting one of these.

[It's totally not to her usual tastes, but they just look like so much fun to wear.]

Yeah, I picked them up to see how they might look for one of our concerts.

[ They tend to incorporate a ridiculous amount of fiber optics and LED lights into the stage costumes already, adding the silly glasses would just be another source of light. ]

If people see us wearing them they're usually way more likely to buy them.

[Maybe FoB should incorporate glowy things into their concerts too...? Or would that destroy their image as a classical band? But they're supposed to be "progressive", too. To be honest, Pao-Lin really has no idea what "progressive" actually means. She just thinks of FoB as sorta-but-not-quite-classical.

In any case, Angel shouldn't get too huffy about this photo op considering that VIP's also a Virgo band. Pao-Lin slips them on with a smile.]

How do I look?

[ Oh wow, she looks really cute wearing them. Plus the shutter shades contrast with her lolita dress in a fun way. Out of place in all the right ways. ]

Like a million bucks! Now...

[ He pulls his phone out and sidles up to her for the proper selfie range. ]

Smile!

[Pao-Lin flashes a double V-sign with a practiced, dimpled smile.]

Ooh, how'd it turn out?

[ Bolin adds to the V-signage, partly because he's a Vandal, and snaps the picture with a big grin on his face. He turns the screen to show her and then adds a few tags before he posts it to his social media accounts.

[Ooh, she likes this a lot! She looks pretty good in those shades. So does Bolin, for that matter.]

[Pao-Lin had seen parts of VIP's performance, but hadn't stuck around long enough to catch introductions.]

[ Ouch. ]

[ Thankfully he recovers from the blow to his pride in good time. ]

I'm Bolin. You're Pao-Lin, right?

[ A few taps to his phone and he's tagged Pao-Lin's account on the picture and also sends her a friend request. The account is named Brolin and has a cover photo of him with a vintage filter on it. ]

Now... I think I promised you a cheesecake thingy on a stick?

Yup, that's me!

[Pao-Lin checks her phone to see if she can find the picture already, and is pleasantly surprised to find the friend request from Bolin already. Awesome, now she doesn't have to ask!]

And yes, you did! I hope they're not all sold out. I tried to find these candies I saw someone eating earlier but they didn't have any when I found the place that was selling them.

Yeah, some stuff has been selling like crazy. I barely managed to get a box of fancy macarons for Celty before they sold out.

[ He leads the way toward the stand that had been selling that particular treat. ]

If I'd known music festivals had crazy food like this I would have gotten into the music business way sooner.

[ Especially when being attached to a band sometimes meant free food. ]

Isn't it great? I was so excited when I got to the awards gala last month and saw all the food they had there! Plus you get to travel around to different places and try out restaurants and stuff. [A laugh.] When you're not busy touring or too tired to go out, anyway.

[Even an energetic gal like Pao-Lin has to recharge her batteries sometime.]

Usually we just hit an All You Can Eat place if we're hungry after a gig. Also we learned the important lesson that All You Can Eat Sushi isn't actually an invitation to eat everything.

[ And that, children, is the story about hoe Vandalism in Progress isn't allowed back at All You Can Eat Sushi. ]

Which is pretty misleading if you ask me.

Aww, really? I always wanted to try something like that, but Angel wouldn't let me.

[Angel can be quite strict with Pao-Lin, reasoning that she's a growing but fragile girl who needs to be careful about any strain, perceived or not, on her body.]
