Despite his reluctance to leave Steven in the first place, Greg had been just as anxious to come back. Despite his deep concern for his son, getting caught would put both Steven and Sans in huge trouble--Sans especially. Greg had even refused the first offer to go back--they couldn't push their luck.
Yet for all of his hopes not to rock the boat, he wasn't able to keep it up for long--Steven weighed on his mind too much, and Sans was offering in earnest. Greg couldn't pretend this wasn't what he wanted, misgivings or no.
