LOOKING FOR SOMEONE
Who: Garnet, Koumei, Molly, Pinkie, Greg, and Jamie
What: Where Are They Now? The Scoobies Come Together!
When: February 19th
Where: A club booth/Lesedi and Edward's offices later
Warnings: The characters in this log will be getting in trouble with the labels, so brainwashing, injuries and torture, implied or otherwise, is very likely.
It started with a simple text that evening. Well, no, that was wrong. It started with a knock on the door that morning.
Garnet had wanted to check on Nariko, on all of her bandmates. All that responded to her was silence. She kicked open the door, and was met with nothing. As if the bedsheets had never been used, or the bed even slept in at all.
Nariko - the girl she saw as a daughter, their lead singer - gone. For hours she sat on that bed, her hands over her face. Once the tears dried, however, she balled her fists and stormed out of the penthouse. She wound up here, at this club, typing on her cell phone, a grim expression set on her face.
Pinkie, Koumei and Greg. If others were at the club, and wanted to join in, fine. She didn't think there would be others, though.
P3nn Station. 8pm. I'll pay.
Its a sophisticated little place, a jazz club with a good clientele, a good waitstaff - and a good chance they will be left alone for the most part. She might be asked to perform. Otherwise, though, the guards could have their own drinks, and she would be able to talk freely with those who came.
If they came. As time ticked away, she knew her idea was contingent upon people arriving, much less be amenable to it. If this didn't work out, well - this was a nice club. She could come here again in the future.

Bed sheets. Bed sheets. Beeed sheeeeets...

"Hope no one minds getting wet."
The quip came right in time for the sprinkler above them to go off, spraying the lot of them in cold water. The shower set off a chain reaction, opening up similar sprays from the sprinklers down the hall.

But still, climbing? "My hands are kinda weird lately," she admits, eyes on the ground. "I'm not sure I could hold on."
OOC: Posting Order: Garnet - Koumei - Pinkie - Jamie - Molly?

They couldn't allow that to happpen.
"I already said, I have that part under control." He tied his long hair up into a messy bun as he spoke, oddly calm and professional in a way that a pianist shouldn't be. Then, looking fully at their rag tag little team, he continued:
"Please. I can't explain-- just trust me."
If Garnet's Future Vision were working appropriately, she might catch a flash of a star field.

Pinkie doesn't know him, but Koumei definitely sounds like he knows what he's doing. Maybe he's got some kind of magic thing too. Why couldn't she have gotten something useful like that, instead of all this? She moves to stand closer to Garnet, out of the way of anything that might be about to happen with the ceiling panel.

This is starting to sound like a spectacularly bad idea.
Jamie, hurrying from one end of the corridor to the other to keep an eye out for anyone that might interfere with...whatever this clusterfuck is, shoots Koumei a look as he passes by.
"I hope you know what you're doing," he mutters nervously, and then he's taking up his lookout position at the far end of the hall.

"Just hurry up!" she snapped, tugging her hat down tighter over her head. She was carrying a few items in her pockets, but she didn't have any bedsheets. Why hadn't she thought to grab bedsheets?

"It doesn't work like that-- we need to move!"
[A janitor's closet. A bathroom. Any of them would work...]

There's plenty of rooms on this floor, though, and one of them must have something useful. She darts over to the nearest door and tugs on it. "Uh - there's like, towels and stuff in here!" It looks like a storage closet. There must be lots of those around here; rock stars go through an awful lot of laundry. "Wait, does it matter if the bedsheets are those super-duper bright gold ones? 'Cause they're big, but I kinda think you might be able to see them from space."
no subject
He bolts to stand beside Pinkie, looking between the storage closet and the rest of the group. "Do we have time to grab stuff before we go I think we should just hide in here we can all fit in here right? Right?"
He's talking a mile a minute and bouncing in place agitatedly. Obviously he is handling all this really well.
no subject
"There's a bathroom that way," she hissed, nodding her head in the direction. They could all fit in there and try to figure out how to get to the roof.

The closest place. It could fit them all. It had to. Grabbing at whoever was closest to her, Garnet bolted for the open door Pinkie provided. Here was to hoping Koumei was going to do something, as she can suddenly see so many things, so many possibilities, nothing made sense--

This was a mess. It was never going to work.
"Bathroom. It's not much further-- and I need a window."
He could transport the rest of them to ground level and hide in one of the stalls, if need be. An operation like this should never have been compromised so quickly...

Star field, the city below-
"Koumei...will this work?"
no subject
"It will," Koumei intoned, holding out his hand.
The suddenness of the motion was matched by a strange symbol glowing golden on his hands. It was one Garnet might recognize, if she had ever taken a peek at the scraps of papers that passed for Koumei's notes. The strange symbol was littered all over the margins in recent months, as he had tried to make sense of what the image had meant.
It was only finding Garnet in the bathroom, panicking over her eyes, that allowed the piece to fall into place.
A deft motion with his hands called up a series of flickering lights that resembled constellations, and they arrayed themselves into a shape that was large enough for the four of the others to pass through.
A parallel array appeared outside, and under his breath Koumei uttered the words 'Dante al-Thais.'
"It's a gate," he explained quickly, already lowering the portal over the other four. "You'll be safe. No climbing involved at all."
no subject
"That is suuuuuuuuper-duper cool..." Pinkie says in a hushed voice, leaning down to peer through the gate and then straightening to look out the window again. "So we're just all gonna go down there, and...then what?"
no subject
"This thing isn't gonna like...rip us to shreds or fuse us all together or something, is it?"
no subject
"Well, it didn't hurt."
no subject
So, she did so. If she ended up outside, she's ask Koumei what he was planning. Otherwise, well...
no subject
It was a fairly simple concept in Koumei's mind, but it did nothing to allay the disappointment in his own voice. They would need to plan this out better for the next time, and come properly prepared instead of just doing this off the cuff. Without any idea of what everyone was capable of at this point in time, it was impossible to know what they were capable of.
Besides. It was insane to bring kids along.
Garnet will find that the portal doesn't kill her. Instead, she's safely outside as if she had simply stepped through a door. Not a hair was out of place on her head, and there was no sense of ill reaction to the process.
"Once we're outside, we're outside." He explained calmly to the rest who were still in the room with him. "It's better to retreat now and try this again another time."
He hoped they would hurry. Maintaining these portals was starting to become tiring.
