The bubbles don't break necks this time, though - in fact, as opposed to the bone crushing effect they could have on a regular person, they mostly just seems to surprise and inconvenience the men that they attack. He dent the cars they hit, but they still thrash - grasping at the hoods of the cars to pull themselves free.

Steven screams as they hit the ground, still struggling slightly but ultimately too terrified to take any coherent action. He isn't scared of her, but he's scared of what she's doing - and the consequences it will hold for both of them.

There aren't enough bubbles to cover every attacker, though. A gunshot fires - from who it isn't clear - and a couple of the assailants can be seen fighting Pride security. As Lapis rolls, she's stopped by one of the van attacked making a grab for Steven while her water is busy elsewhere.

Steven yelps as he's jerked back painfully, the attacker's grip tight on her arm. From behind Lapis, another one comes in with a stun gun again.
