Lapis seems like she can be a bit dour from all he's seen of her, but it's not like there isn't any reason for it. It makes him uncomfortable thinking about Papyrus being a part of this tired group of observers up until recently. Especially considering the less than stellar reaction he'd had to him when Papyrus tried to introduce himself the first time.
"...Yeah." He leaves it at that for a few moments, then says a bit more candidly: "You know Greg and his kid, right?" He makes a vague gesture to where her gem is hiding. "You look like the species where he must have got that stone from."
Which he personally finds really interesting - just a shame he's mostly experienced what gems look like when they're broken.
