He glances toward the horizon, a small, almost fey smile crossing his pale face. "I wouldn't mind sharing it with you, as things are better when they're shared," he says. Then looking back to her, he replies, "Unless you have some pressing matter calling you away: a proper gentleman doesn't keep a lady from her appointments." And knowing what he was, who he was, he wants to live the better parts of that, like his gentlemanliness.
