It catches him by surprise, mostly because at first Blanche can't for the life of him figure out what Greg is trying to accomplish. For a rare, optimistic moment he thinks the fool might be trying to contribute somehow, by protecting their side from kind of attack - but no. No, nothing so harmlessly pointless.

He can practically sense the defiance, and the sheer audacity of it is enough to draw his attention from his attack against Luce and the Doctor. The cloud doesn't dissipate, but the pressure will stop building. Instead, all of that desire to hurt seems to channel into the scowl that he gives his not-quite acolyte.

"What possible reason could you have to do this now?" he asks, his tone edged and deeply incredulous. "They mean nothing to you!"
