☆BETTER TO PRETEND

The day has finally come for Fairy Trial filming to begin!

No matter if they’ve arrived by limo or taken the bus, everyone involved gets star treatment as the makeup and costume departments go wild with the models they’ve been given. At least Sevetop has good accomodations. While it’s a chaotic and crowded scene, everyone still manages to fit in the two buildings Sevetop has dedicated for Fairy Trial’s purposes in this area. It’s one of the only points today that anyone will have a chance to everyone else. After all, once everyone involved in a particular challenge is done with, they’re hurried out the door and to their particular destination.

Every challenge has a different area it takes place in, after all. For some pair ups, they’ll find themselves merely being escorted to another set on Sevetop’s huge property. Others will find themselves being escorted to some very classy transportation and taken outside of Vista City to special obstacle courses that simply wouldn’t fit anywhere else. On the bright side, once the actual filming is done no matter the location, the crew involved seems to relax considerably. Whether they’ve done great or not, Heroes and Royals are treated to dinner and a change out of their costumes. Good job, everyone.

[Here it is, moment of truth. He stands here the Hero, looking to choose a Royal of some sort. There are a lot of people milling about and he smiles cheerfully. He can mingle, he can mingle like crazy.

A nod, a smile and basic idle chatter. He can do that.

The moment comes for him to do a taste test and choose the food most likely cooked by his Royal. He just hopes his luck is good, he has no idea how to go about deciding.]

[Ugh, okay. He can do this. The mingling is easy, he just has to sip champagne and nod along when people talk, but this is... Showbusiness isn't Terry's thing at all. Are they supposed to play it up, or...?]

[He smiles pleasantly enough when the food comes out, and he tips his head at Demyx in greeting.]

Here to try the food?

[He grins at him and nods.]

Yeah, I think I'm going to check out what's going on. It looks, uh, interesting.

[All in all, he's not a fussy eater and he'll probably eat anything whether it's really good or not.]

[He huffs out a small laugh at that] That's a word for it.

[There's the meals by the cooks, which look great, and Terry's spaghetti and marina sauce, which looks... Not terrible. He also slipped a ring in for good measure, but honestly it's probably not even necessary.]

[It's surprisingly easy to imagine that someone with little skill cooked the pasta. Demyx is surprised by how distinctive it is in comparison, but he doesn't shy away from tasting it, slurping up a stray noodle.

He finds the ring and licks off a bit of sauce that wound up on the face of it. A token of the Royal's favour? It sounds like a fairy tale. He tries a few other dishes, just because he can and finishes off with slipping the ring on his finger. Now to figure out who cooked his spaghetti.]</small.

[If Demyx notices, Terry's wearing a matching ring amongst the ones on his hands. Hands that are clasped together at his front as he watches Demyx trying the meals. He's not allowed to give any clues other than that, so he watches Demyx quietly and silently while he waits for some kind of a response.]

[Okay, all he has to do is not panic. There's a ring, and it's got a symbol. Likely that symbol is going to be somewhere else. Demyx doesn't stop the mingling chatter but his eyes are wandering. No, none of the tapestries or anything else hanging on the set.

He laughs at a terrible joke and looks at other people gathered. Nothing too obvious then, that was interesting. The flitting about made for some good suspense and when he finished speaking to someone, he shook their hands amicably.

Demyx had wound his way around three others before finding Terry. He flashes him a grin and holds out the favour.]

I take it this belongs to you then?

[His tone is teasing, light as though it wasn't a challenging little puzzle.]

[Terry ends up making a little conversation with the other cooks for the cameras. As it happens, he's surprisingly good at pretending to care about all this so long as someone else engages him first. Lots of good soundbites about the food and the faces Demyx has been making and- oh! He's got the ring, etc. etc. That'll all probably be played over some tense music for the show.]

[When Demyx comes over, Terry shrugs a shoulder and looks at the rings on his hand]

I do happen to have one just like it.

Really?

[He chuckles lightly, eyes alight with amusement.]

So, I guess, it's to you I owe thanks for such a good meal, right?

[Demyx is playing it up for the cameras, acting as though Terry is a noble one, looking to offer his favour to one gallant young man who was searching for him.]

Only if you picked the right one. [There's a brief moment of discomfort on Terry's part - he's not really an actor in any capacity, but hopefully it just comes off as nerves at meeting his hero.] I hope you did. I made it just for you, after all.

[God does he wish there was someone he could check in with and ask if he's doing okay. They'd cut if he was fucking everything up though, right?]

[His smile didn't change but it looked like he was actually blushing at the line Terry gave him. He let out a bit of a chuckle, deep in his throat.]

If you made me the spaghetti, it was delicious.

[He cocks his head to the side, smiling brilliantly. Terry is doing fine as far as Demyx can see.]

[Oh good, he got it. Not that it was hard, but you never know. Either way, Terry smiles at his answer.]

I did. I'm so glad you think so.

Thank you.

[He smiles warmly, so he's located his Royal, now what was he supposed to do?]

So now I just...um...

[Demyx looks a little flustered. That's what he got for not reading his package.]

[Terry also has no idea what to do. Maybe he should've watched an episode of the show or something. Did someone explain it to him? He doesn't remember, he was pretty focused on keeping it quiet in his head.]

So, uh... [Terry glances around, trying to catch the eye of someone who works on the show to no avail.] Drink?

A drink sounds great right about now.

[Demyx smiles, relieved and excuses himself to find two. He took them and brought one back to Terry. He holds it out.]

This alright?

Thanks.

[He smiles and takes the drink - he'll drink just about anything so long as it's not too sweet - leaning a little against one of the tables. Terry's kinda given up on catching one of the producers, they'll get told off if they do something wrong probably.]

Be honest with me though. How much better were the other meals than mine? I mean obviously none of them had that Royal touch, but that seafood risotto looked good.

[Since it was a higher end kind of party, the sweet drinks weren't really around, at least, Demyx hadn't chosen any.]

Oh, it was very good, but there's a certain kind of charm to a simple plate of spaghetti, you know? Could make someone kind of nostalgic, so, yeah it was my favourite.
