The night club Maxxie rents out is in the heart of the downtown, sticking out like a sore thumb with its front entrance looking more like a museum than a club. There's a red carpet leading up the steps, with bodyguards littered about to keep the paparazzi and troublemakers at arm's length. No one with a recognizable face will be turned away from entering the club, and even through the giant, heavy doors there's a distinct baseline and a hint of flashing lights from the dance floor.

Said dance floor is the first step once you're inside. After an extravagant coat check and quick access to the downstairs bar, there's a wide open dance floor with the DJ on stage at the opposite end. There are bodyguards lining the walls, of course - after Naomi's stunt at the solstice party there's no losing them - but there's only one rule at this party: absolutely no one is to touch the mic except for the DJ and Maxxie. The music all night is a blend of genres, but every song is appropriate to dance to. Obviously there are some Flashstep songs thrown in for good measure, but rest assured that every band will probably hear their music in some form or another, whether it's the song itself or a remix to make it a bit more suitable for the mood of the party.

On the two upper levels there are balconies overlooking the dance floor, and it's a bit quieter up here due to some innovative architecture. One may actually be able to have a conversation in the comfortable lounge, and there's another bar here with a few more options for mixed drinks. It's a place to rest up, have a few drinks, and enjoy the music at a more reasonable volume before you head back out to the party. There's even waitstaff floating around making sure everyone has anything they want, and as always the bodyguards are hanging out at the edges of the space to make sure no one starts any trouble.

Finally, there's an entrance to an outdoor balcony on the top level, high enough up to get a nice view of downtown and still be sheltered from the nosy paparazzi down on the street. The temperature has dropped with the arrival of winter, but it's a calm, clear night in Vista city and the alcohol should be enough to keep you warm.

The bars are fully stocked with a few thousand dollars worth of alcohol to keep everyone properly buzzed, and there are a few dealers floating around upstairs ready to sell anything to anyone with a charming smile. The host himself will be bouncing around, enjoying himself as if it was all catered specifically to his idea of the perfect party (it was) and saying hi to anyone and everyone.

[OOC: This is party style! Throw up a toplevel and get tagging! You can get up to any shenanigans you want, but please keep in mind the bodyguards are plentiful and on high alert since the solstice party. Maxxie has, of course, tried and failed to get them to join in on the fun, but they don't seem too overbearing unless trouble starts brewing. [ever since the holiday party, Molly has been feeling quite unlike herself. she's been quiet, somewhat withdrawn, and not up for social gatherings. she used to be so pleasant in large groups, despite being a little shy. now she has very little patience for noise.

it's hard to say if this new behavior is just a result of growing pains, or because of what she saw at Naomi Rivers' party. either way, Molly's celebrating the end of the year huddled against a wall. she's debating getting a drink and heading to the upper levels when Kido approaches her]

Um... I don't dance... [not really. but dancing might at least make her stop sulking]

Neither do I, normally. [She shrugs.] There's a reason I hang in the back on stage. But it's a dance party.

[it is a dance party, and there's a lot of dancing going on. a lot of other things going on, too. Molly sighs, not really wanting to argue with Kido. she likes and respects Kido. and it might be worth it just to see Kido dance, herself]

I guess... [she twirls a lock of hair around her finger, considering. it kind of would be nice to let loose while everyone else is] Fine, as long as you're doing it, too.

[She takes Molly's free hand with a gentle tug.]

It's been hard lately, but it doesn't hurt to try to keep your spirits up.

[here it comes. Molly huffs lightly at Kido's statement, but freely follows her out to the dance floor]

I don't really see a reason to. Bad things keep happening.

[She tries for a smile.]

Yeah. They do. But we're still alive, for now. There's no point in being miserable.

... Drinks help.

[drinks help? that seems like such an odd thing for Kido to say. then again, Molly is old enough to be drinking. she has a little alcohol every now and then, but she doesn't drink enough for it to relax her.

she manages a half-smirk back, raising an eyebrow] Are you trying to get me drunk already?

If I was trying to get you drunk I wouldn't be offering to dance. You can't tell Tiger I was though, got it?

[She has been scolded by him before.] You shouldn't get drunk here anyway.

[the response makes Molly actually chuckle. she was just teasing! at least Kido brought a smile back to her face. she won't say a word to Tiger!]

Yeah, that's probably a bad idea. Seems a little cliché, too, getting drunk on New Years Eve.

It's a cliche because it's true. You have to keep your head when everyone else is out of it. [Like Kido. Kido is buzzed as heck.]

[Molly hasn't noticed yet. she looks around once they get to the dance floor and an image flashes in her mind, but it's gone too fast]

Exactly. Though, I guess I wouldn't mind a small drink. [maybe it will help loosen her up so she can actually dance]

Definitely small. I have to look out for you guys. [The longer she feels this way, the longer she wonders why. Why does she feel responsible for her band? She's never had to take care of anything in her life, and she's sure her band doesn't take her seriously.

But "danchou" is burned into her brain. Maybe it has something to do with it. Or maybe she doesn't need a reason to care.

Either way, she pulls Molly closer to her to make sure they don't get separated in the crowd.]

You want to go now?

[Molly stays close, feeling like she is protected. even though bad things keep happening, she still has her band. she has to remember that. she still has System Crash]

Um, yeah. [because the thought of dancing completely sober seems really really dumb! besides, she had Kido. Kido was going to watch her, and Molly was responsible. she would know how much she could handle. right? sure!]

[Kido nods and she'll bring her to the bar.]

Do you drink normally? [She's very concerned about Molly's ability to hold her liquor.]

[as she should be. Molly shakes her head]

Not normally. I've had wine and champagne on occasion. [but there's a first time for everything, and Molly wants to be relaxed tonight] I want to try a cocktail.

[Oh dear. Kido frowns a little.]

... Don't get anything too heavy, okay? [SAYS KIDO AS SHE LITERALLY ORDERS ANOTHER DRINK IN A LINE OF MANY.]

[oh no! don't frown at her! Molly was just starting to feel happy again]

I promise. [though it isn't like Molly knows what's heavy or not. she looks around the bar area, seeing the kinds of drinks people are carrying around. someone passes by, and they've got a big wedge of pineapple sticking out of the top of their glass, a piña colada] What about that one?

Depends on how it's made. If you drink it slowly, it won't be bad, I think.

[They're not really her style of drink, anyway.]

[Molly grins, already feeling the adrenaline rush of just doing something so grown up. she orders "One of those!" from the bartender and watches as it is made, eyes lighting up when the pineapple piece is placed on the rim]

Okay. [now she holds the drink in hand] Here goes. [and then she's sipping through the straw. she doesn't taste the alcohol immediately. no, it just tastes sweet and cold. kind of delightful!]

[It's kinda cute. Innocent. Kido's favorite thing is seeing innocence in other people. She sees it in Tiger, in Trucy, in Pinkie and Momo and even a little in Genos and the way he gets angry when shit isn't right.

She wonders if she ever had it, or if anyone ever saw something like that in her as she sips her own drink.]

[Molly looks up from her drink with a pleased smile on her face]

Yeah! It tastes like a coconut slushie.

Don't drink it fast. And make sure you eat while you're drinking, or you'll get sick.

[Says Kido as she finishes her drink already and hasn't eaten anything all night.]

[what is there to eat? some peanuts at the bar, maybe. so Molly takes a few of those while she drinks. perhaps after this one she'd be ready to go out and do some dancing.

Molly gives Kido a slight smirk. she kind of sounds like a big sister, or mother, watching out for Molly. a true band-mom. but Molly doesn't find that annoying]

Have any resolutions for the new year?

If I said get stabbed less, it would probably be a bad joke, huh? [She chuckles. She doesn't do resolutions--she can barely see until tomorrow, let alone the rest of the year.]

What about you?

[the answer causes Molly to wince. haha, yeah, probably in poor taste, considering what just happened, but she lets it slide]

I'm hoping to make more friends. [she pushes the straw around in her drink, smile fading a bit] I know it sounds silly, but I can't help but feel like there's someone out there I'm supposed to meet.
