The night club Maxxie rents out is in the heart of the downtown, sticking out like a sore thumb with its front entrance looking more like a museum than a club. There's a red carpet leading up the steps, with bodyguards littered about to keep the paparazzi and troublemakers at arm's length. No one with a recognizable face will be turned away from entering the club, and even through the giant, heavy doors there's a distinct baseline and a hint of flashing lights from the dance floor.
Said dance floor is the first step once you're inside. After an extravagant coat check and quick access to the downstairs bar, there's a wide open dance floor with the DJ on stage at the opposite end. There are bodyguards lining the walls, of course - after Naomi's stunt at the solstice party there's no losing them - but there's only one rule at this party: absolutely no one is to touch the mic except for the DJ and Maxxie. The music all night is a blend of genres, but every song is appropriate to dance to. Obviously there are some Flashstep songs thrown in for good measure, but rest assured that every band will probably hear their music in some form or another, whether it's the song itself or a remix to make it a bit more suitable for the mood of the party.
On the two upper levels there are balconies overlooking the dance floor, and it's a bit quieter up here due to some innovative architecture. One may actually be able to have a conversation in the comfortable lounge, and there's another bar here with a few more options for mixed drinks. It's a place to rest up, have a few drinks, and enjoy the music at a more reasonable volume before you head back out to the party. There's even waitstaff floating around making sure everyone has anything they want, and as always the bodyguards are hanging out at the edges of the space to make sure no one starts any trouble.
Finally, there's an entrance to an outdoor balcony on the top level, high enough up to get a nice view of downtown and still be sheltered from the nosy paparazzi down on the street. The temperature has dropped with the arrival of winter, but it's a calm, clear night in Vista city and the alcohol should be enough to keep you warm.
The bars are fully stocked with a few thousand dollars worth of alcohol to keep everyone properly buzzed, and there are a few dealers floating around upstairs ready to sell anything to anyone with a charming smile. The host himself will be bouncing around, enjoying himself as if it was all catered specifically to his idea of the perfect party (it was) and saying hi to anyone and everyone.
[OOC: This is party style! Throw up a toplevel and get tagging! You can get up to any shenanigans you want, but please keep in mind the bodyguards are plentiful and on high alert since the solstice party. Maxxie has, of course, tried and failed to get them to join in on the fun, but they don't seem too overbearing unless trouble starts brewing. The Countdown is here, but please continue making toplevels and threading pre- and post-countdown shenanigans!]

I'M SO SORRY work just murderated me
Yeah, and that's why I've got alcohol. You're not seriously hoping you're going to end up in some stranger's bed tonight though, right?
NO IT'S OKAY I'M JUST really glad you didn't want to drop this thread haha ._.
[Or she's going to try at the very least and assuming she hadn't lost all of her skills amidst the complete weirdness that had dominated the lives of everyone in Pride and Virgo? Chances are she'd get what she wanted. But it's still pretty early, so it's hardly the first thing on her mind.]
Look, you want to be the designated driver and all that? Go for it. [She's not going to waste time convincing him to loosen up when she could spend said time eating, instead. Pot makes her really goddamn hungry, okay.]
no subject
But what if you end up with some super shady guy...I mean, this isn't exactly the best place to be picking up guys. All the people sitting outside trying to get a glimpse inside give me the creeps.
[He grimaces- he can't imagine Nariko ending up in a bed with one of those mouthbreathers out there.]
no subject
Again: So what if I do? I'd rather deal with someone than be alone!
[.... God, that's pathetic, she knows it is, so:] Besides, it's not like being chaste ever did me any good!
[That's definitely - not a dig but it is a little call back to him. To them. The fact that she'd tried to be more careful with Yosuke and ended up fucking it all up still stung her pride violently. It was difficult to convince herself that things wouldn't have been different if she hadn't spread it on a little thicker.]

Yeah, and what happens when you wake up totally hungover and in bed with some guy who could roll over and crush you because you were high and thought going home with him was a good idea. Seriously, think about it for a second!
[Okay maybe that wasn't the most sensitive thing to say ever oops]
no subject
Again: So what?! The fuck's it matter what they look like or whether I regret it later or if I feel shitty about myself for it! At least for five goddamn seconds nothing will feel like shit! What I'm thinking about is not feeling alone!
[Yosuke why are you trying to argue with someone who is so incredibly high, and emotional? It's just a bad idea, because her voice raises, warbles like she might accidentally edge into something like hysteria before she gets a hold of herself.]
Are you going to cockblock me all friggin' night or something? [He's like a dog with a demented bone.] I mean, eventually you're gonna feel awkward enough that you'll go anyway.
[Don't test her.]
no subject
No! Geez, I was just trying to look out for you, okay?
[Which isn't always the best way.]
You don't have to bite my head off! [A beat.]
Sorry...
no subject
But she can't.]
Is Rei here?
[It's all she can think to ask him in the moment, a way to change the subject as easily as possible.]
no subject
[He's confused by the sudden change, but it quickly dawns on him that she might be asking so she doesn't have to see the object of the dissonance between them. He realizes that's probably best right now, because there's no telling how angry he would get if Rei was here and bad feelings were brought back up all over again because of it.]
no subject
[She actually smiles a bit. It'd be fine even if their mutual connection was here! Nariko just ... Probably wouldn't be talking to Yosuke at all, in that case.]
I think I'm gonna go outside.
[Outside the party itself, she means. It's not the most convincing statement, mostly because she still can't stand without leaning to one direction or the other, and there's a wholly not-there quality to her gaze but. It's what she's going to do!!]
no subject
[Though he doesn't doubt that she might need a little fresh air. She'd been at it all night, and it's hard not to catch that look she has about her that suggests she might need a little help getting out there.]
You going up to the balcony?
no subject
[She's trying to say she's going to leave the party as a whole but for whatever reason those specific words don't make it out.] That way I won't be making you worry or whatever, okay? Or something.
[Because Nariko in an open space and high as shit wandering around a huge city is a clear and marked improvement.]
no subject
That's even worse than going onto the balcony...
[Except maybe she won't fall from it if she's not up there, he thinks.]
Can I at least walk you back to the penthouse? [Is she even going back home? He doesn't know.]
no subject
Sweet.]
You'll miss the party. [But it's not a 'no', her voice is too small and weirdly grateful for that. In truth she doesn't want to be alone at all, but it's not as if she can ask him to spend the night with her.
Goddammit Yosuke.]
no subject
[He's confident Maxxie's party will go even later than anyone wanted, and he'd rather know she got home safely. Despite wanting to bitch and whine about how much this is kind of a pain, but he's still going to do it.]
Let's just head back to Pride, you look like you could use some fresh air anyway.
no subject
...
. . .]
Fine. [Let's go! Even though this was her idea and her head hurts, and she's trying to move right but her limbs are fuzzy extensions. Out they go!!
Who knows if the fresh air will really do her any good but it's worth a shot at this point.]
