005 ✽ We be all night

Who: The willing from Pride and Virgo
What: Want to know what party sucked? The solstice party. Want to know what party won't suck? Luci and Luce's.
When: Jan 8th
Where: The basement of the club Blue Heist
Warnings: None planned besides possible/probably intoxication

A little while after the disaster at Naomi's, those who had attended might find themselves approached- by Luce on Virgo's side, by Luci on Pride's, or perhaps by someone who had heard about it from either of them. The subject of conversation?

Another party. One that involves another mingle of both labels, without being used for any ulterior motives.

Those who seem up to it are given a time and place. Blue Heist is one of the clubs around town that has what could be called a "basement level", for private renting and parties available to anyone who has the cash to spend on it. It's a pretty simple set up, nothing extravagant like the party at Naomi's... Which is absolutely on purpose, let no one tell you otherwise. There's a reason any mics or karaoke equipment has been pointedly removed. All the music is on the system already.

Nope, tonight it's just dancing and drinking, with a couple of rooms to the side that have cheesy movies playing in case you're tired out. No closed doors, no poison at the bar, no murder.

And if you want to take a moment to maybe have a talk to someone on the opposite label to discuss or apologize for the events of the prior night... That's fine too.

Just be careful. Both labels are still under watch, it seems, with a few bodyguards from both sides around the perimeter here and there.

Meril had come for two reasons: because the penthouse would feel miserably empty had she not, and because she had to scope out Doctor for that whole songwriting thing. Having accomplished the latter, she no longer had any reason at all to stay out and expose herself to anyone.

She flopped down onto that pillow quite indelicately, in a motion familiar to both of them after the past miserable weeks.

However lousy Greg felt, Meril looked far worse. Any sort of decorum or professionalism gave way long ago with their band in such a state. Nearly all the two of them did these days were video games and watching television, and somehow it left them more exhausted than their grueling work schedule had. Now it was more of their new lazy standard, but in public.

Greg reached over to give her a pat on the shoulder. "You did it. Nice work." He had enough reasons to force himself out here, but it was undeniably a struggle on her part.

Meril let out a little, bitter laugh. "If I need to be congratulated for going outside, I truly have reached a low point. Clearly we need to break the cycle."

She might have been laughing, and there might have been real humor there, but that did put things into perspective.
panspermia: (★ Let's count that a success)

Almost any party they go to tends to end in disaster. Working up the courage to visit another might deserve a medal at this point. Instead of voicing the negative, though, Greg simply sends her a wry smile.

"Think it counts if you play something aside from Battlecraft?"

She returned a wan smile of her own. "Lately, yes. Which is in itself very sad. Are you proposing something?"

"We're at a party, might as well enjoy some party games." He puffs out his chest in a decent impression of someone who's not exhausted. "I had the high score on Sudsy back at the old arcade, so I think I can give you a real challenge."

"Maybe I should challenge you to a Bladecraft duel just to cut down your superiority." Smiling -- actually, honestly smiling! -- Meril scooped up a controller. "But I will accept your invitation for now."

"Ooh, big words. You'll have to best me in this arena first." The game bloops out cheery music to accompany its blocky 3D graphics. "We'll make a whole tournament of it."

"Two people is a small tournament, but we will make up for its size with its scope."

No one would recognize Meril as the amused if sad woman who could jest with Greg this way, if they looked.

"Forget the music biz. We'll take the world by storm with our mad gaming skills."

Sometimes he forgets the austere persona she puts on for everyone else. It does come off like a different person altogether. It would have been nicer if she'd opened up through a happier means.
nibelungvalesti: (what?!)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2016-01-27 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait a minute.

"...We could do videos like that. Those are a thing, aren't they?"

That might be a brilliant idea, Greg!

Wait, what.

"Like, for actual?" Is that a thing people would watch? He can't imagine they would, but it sounds fun as heck. "That sounds awesome!"

"Why not? We still have fans, do we not? If we do not have the chance to make music, why not find other things to do that will keep them entertained?" Maybe no one would watch them if they just started one day out of the blue, but they were still Defying Atmosphere!
panspermia: (★ Awesome new set)

"Yeah... yeah!" His smile grows, a little perplexed by the idea but with growing excitement. "We're already playing all this stuff, might as well let other people have fun with it, right?"

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2016-01-28 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exactly. And it is a way we can continue to keep in touch with our fans even during downtime." She knew Greg cared about that, and she cared about what Greg cared about.

"And we'd reach more people, don't you think? Video game fans are pretty different from music fans." Each have their own... quirks, let's call them. "That'll keep Kimiko from getting too fussy about it." No it won't.

"If our related videos and links are of our music, that will draw people in. Also, we could do small little pieces of music for the videos, thus encouraging people to hear more." Meril was confident that they could work this to their advantage, so long as they didn't slack on their music. Which they weren't doing anyway, so what harm could it do?
