005 ✽ We be all night

Who: The willing from Pride and Virgo
What: Want to know what party sucked? The solstice party. Want to know what party won't suck? Luci and Luce's.
When: Jan 8th
Where: The basement of the club Blue Heist
Warnings: None planned besides possible/probably intoxication

A little while after the disaster at Naomi's, those who had attended might find themselves approached- by Luce on Virgo's side, by Luci on Pride's, or perhaps by someone who had heard about it from either of them. The subject of conversation?

Another party. One that involves another mingle of both labels, without being used for any ulterior motives.

Those who seem up to it are given a time and place. Blue Heist is one of the clubs around town that has what could be called a "basement level", for private renting and parties available to anyone who has the cash to spend on it. It's a pretty simple set up, nothing extravagant like the party at Naomi's... Which is absolutely on purpose, let no one tell you otherwise. There's a reason any mics or karaoke equipment has been pointedly removed. All the music is on the system already.

Nope, tonight it's just dancing and drinking, with a couple of rooms to the side that have cheesy movies playing in case you're tired out. No closed doors, no poison at the bar, no murder.

And if you want to take a moment to maybe have a talk to someone on the opposite label to discuss or apologize for the events of the prior night... That's fine too.

Just be careful. Both labels are still under watch, it seems, with a few bodyguards from both sides around the perimeter here and there.

[Luci, empty glass in hand and on her way to get another, finds herself waylaid by Parker Komori-- rhythm guitar in Nuclear Parliament. Something about butting heads with Johanna had led Luci to do her research. Though she finds herself a little surprised by the question. She stops, a little wide-eyed, eyebrow raised and settles back after stopping mid-step.]

[Was she glad?]

No. Just because your lead and I can't play nice doesn't mean I hated your music. I thought you guys were pretty good.

[She can separate personal feelings from talent. It's what's kept her from throttling Alec, after all.]

...huh.

[She tilts her head, responding in very much the tone of someone who has received a totally unexpected but not altogether unpleasant surprise.]

That's...generous. We didn't accomplish much before Kanami got dropped, and it was pretty much downhill from there.

[Luci's lips form a line and she nods. It's rough when one person drags the rest of the group down-- in this case it sounds like the loss of Kanami just made half the band give up.]

Talent is talent. As much as our personal lives can affect that, I try not to judge based on whether or not the diva threatens to gouge my eyes out or pulls a knife on me. [She smirks and puts a hand into her pocket, relaxing.] Virgo will keep you on. Who knows-- the next group of people you land with could be the inspiration you need after a rough situation.

Honestly Chris was more the diva than she was. [Parker jams her hands in her jacket pockets.] Kanami was manageable. Once we lost two...Shotaro tried, and he's country so of course he's sweet, but three people can't carry a gig for five no matter how hard the lead tries. [There is a genuine kind of wistfulness to having lost the old man.] I guess after two bands collapsing they just weren't willing to keep anything they had in common.

[Luci actually looks as though she feels... pity? For the downfall of Nuclear Parliament as detailed by Parker. It's really too bad-- she'd been looking forward to more punk on the scene.]

You want a drink? [She asks, tilting her head towards the bar.] Sounds like you need one.
trn451: (gassed)

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-13 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
I—what?

[Congrats, Luci, you've flabbergasted her.] No! I'm like fourteen; I can't drink yet!

Oh.

[Shit. Well. Okay.]

Sorry, I keep forgetting I'm ancient around here at twenty. Guy I know got some thing that's ice cream and soda, you want one of those? He calls 'em 'Firecrackers'.
trn451: (terminal)

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-13 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
That might be better, yeah. [Parker massages her cheeks, trying to hide a blush.]

On a slightly less depressing note — what was it like coming to a band after working solo? A real band, I mean.

[Luci notes her squeezing her cheeks and smirks to herself. Cute. She's a cute kid, honestly. And sharp. Kind of seems familiar...]

Rough. [She laughs as she leads them to the bar.] Take the five most volatile and self-absorbed people in the scene and turn them into a band-- sounds like a recipe for absolute disaster.

But, we got on the road, had a few nasty fights, ended up taking the tires off a rival band's bus and stacking them on the roof and it was smooth sailing from there. Until we lost Wakana, at least.
trn451: (noise)

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-13 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's almost movie-perfect. [She tries not to be jealous, and for the most part, she manages.] Didn't you guys like, march into a club and basically steal Fetch Walker to fill in?
stylistic_disloyalty: (037)

[personal profile] stylistic_disloyalty 2016-01-13 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
We one-hundred percent did. [Luci grins wickedly, obviously taking extreme pleasure from the memory.] She's good, we knew that her talentless coattail-riders wouldn't let her go the right-and-proper way. So yes, I threatened to drench their equipment in gasoline and their bassist pissed himself. The tabloid actually got that right, it's a little shocking.
trn451: (teenage)

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-13 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, that part was real? He actually—?

[Parker actually has to stop and think about this. She's not an energetic kid, so she doesn't crack up, but her face is the brightest it's been this entire night.]

Oh my god, wow. You guys deserve your spot at the top.
stylistic_disloyalty: (071)

[personal profile] stylistic_disloyalty 2016-01-14 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[They were terrifying, honestly, the Carnies. Luci doesn't apologize for it, some people who had their heads up their asses deserved to get knocked down a few pegs. Nobody should be shocked when they make good on their threats anymore, anyway.]

We all knew we'd have to fight for it. Was just fortunate we all wanted to fight for it.
trn451: (teenage)

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-14 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
How'd you pick her out? I mean, the guys you stole her from weren't exactly standouts.

Yuffie and I keep an eye on the talent pool. Try to guess who's going to go for who, who's going to get passed on, that kind of thing. It's better to know the field before you start shooting your mouth off about being the best.

[Coincidentally? This is exactly how Johanna set Luci off-- implying she didn't care about the playing field, and knew none of the players.]

Part of the reason we took her was that she was going to languish in that heap of mediocrity. Yuffie knows when somebody is waiting to kick down the door to the next level, it's a crazy sixth-sense she's got or something.
trn451: (attention)

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-18 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
[That gets an envious look from Parker.] We could use some of that. Whoever's in charge of signing people to the Parliament has the exact opposite talent. We lost three mid-leaguers in what, three or four weeks? Just—[Parker makes a bursting gesture with her hand]—poof, and they were gone.

...sorry, that got depressing and I guess I've already been over that. Just, it'd be nice to have psychic talent-seeking powers.

[personal profile] stylistic_disloyalty 2016-01-20 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Believe me, I wish I had her power too. [Luci smirks and shrugs.] It's probably a product of them throwing us all together like they do, honestly. At the beginning, all of us were wary of the others. We didn't know how the five of us would work together, and honestly I still want to shake Alec like a ragdoll sometimes.

Some groups just don't... click. But maybe your new guys will be the right fit.

[personal profile] trn451 2016-01-22 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
So give it time and don't judge someone just because you want to punch them.

Should be doable.

Maybe not easy, but doable.

[personal profile] stylistic_disloyalty 2016-02-03 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe that's how you'll bond, though. Punching. [She grins and jerks her head towards the bar.] Come on, what do kids drink? Shirley Temples?
