A Flower a Day Keeps the Bees at Play

A: Early Morning

Luna (and Mamoru) had learned long ago, that the way to get Usagi anywhere on time was to set her alarm clock an hour ahead. While Usagi knew the trick, she never bothered commenting on it because, well, it worked! She got up early, she got to things on time, and everyone was happy that she wasn’t late. Still, even if Usagi knew the trick, considering the situation she was currently in? She completely forgot to do it. After all, she liked sleeping in as much as the next person (probably more than the next person, actually)!

Which was why, running through the streets was the blonde bunny, in a bright white and blue dress, crying in dismay: "I’M LAAAAAATE! I’M LATE I’M LAAAATE!" with a bag on her shoulder and a lunch-box in hand. The rabbit was late and had no time to say hello or goodbye to those she was living with, she was late she was late she was late!

So frantic to get to work on time, she didn’t pay attention as she turned the corner...

And promptly smacked into someone, falling backwards and straight to the ground.

"OOOOOOOW!" she cringed and whimpered only a little. She rubbed her back, she paused to catch her breath, and then quickly popped right back up as if she hadn’t just fallen. She was so used to falling, honestly that it wasn’t something she couldn't handle. She didn’t have time to be upset, though, because not only was she late, and more importantly, she possibly just hurt someone!

"I’m so so so so so sorry! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she had to go but she didn’t want to abandon the person she just ran into. She bowed deeply. "Really, I’m so sorry!"



B: Throughout the Day

Usagi let out a sigh of relief as she had made it on time. The flower shop owner, Ophelia, merely chuckled to herself and commented about how nice it was to have such an energetic girl around the shop.

The older woman was actually incredibly kind to hire her on. Usagi explained that she had just moved in with all of her cousins after an accident involving their parents. Serena Lapin was doing everything she could to support her family, five girls and one boy! Ophelia was an older woman, bent over and needing a cane to walk, and her son and his best friend worked for her as it got harder for her to work by herself, but at seeing "Serena’s" eagerness and willingness to work, her friendly and open nature, well Ophelia commented that it would be nice to have another girl around, hiring the very day Usagi applied.

And, on top of Usagi’s paycheck, she got to take home flowers that were too old to sale or were damaged in such a way that they couldn’t be given to their customers. She had already taken a few damaged roses, plucked off the ruined petals and leaves and stuck them in her hair. But Usagi was also thinking that flower bouquets would be a great way to keep the house smelling lovely and feeling warm.

Usagi, or rather Serena Lapin was ready to work! With her pastel pink apron and the name badge with a little thistle at the end of it, she could face anything. She looked up when she heard the door chime and greeted the guest with a bright smile.

"Welcome to Thistle Do Nicely: A Flower for Every Occasion! My name is Serena, how can I help you today?"

[Usagi's eyes widened. Sora... as in... as in Riku's Sora!? She swallowed and tried not to panic as she thought of contacting her "cousin." No, they couldn't risk anything besides casual, entirely coincidental meet ups. She pressed her lips together. She took a deep breath and nodded.]

Well, if you want something cheerful, we have the 'Good Morning Sunshine' Bouquet! It has sunflowers, daffodils, white tulips, and yellow and white daisies! Nothing more bright and cheerful than that bouquet. We can even add extra sunflowers!

[At the romantic but not too romantic, she smiled brightly and leaned forward.]

Well, why don't you tell me their favorite color and we can go from there!

[consocius]

[Sora's smile brightens at her suggestion for Nariko.]

Yeah! That sounds great! Really cheery, and I think yellow and gold are pretty colors on her, too. I mean, they go well with her. I bet she'll like 'em.

[He ends up grinning a little as she leans forward, thinking it seems like she's listening to him tell a secret. Sora's usually pretty trusting of people he's just met, until they do something to lose that trust, but with Usagi he's even more at ease, and almost instantly. He feels like he could tell her just about anything.]

He likes blue. And I said not too romantic 'cause we've only been together since the start of January, but I really like him, and I think I'll probably know the right flower for him when I see it.

That is exactly what the 'Good Morning Sunshine' bouquet is for! Did you want to add extra sunflowers to it?

[She giggled and nodded as she leaned back, clasping her hands together.]

Congratulations! And hmmm..... Alright, well there are plenty of blue flowers but nothing too romantic... [She tapped her lip and looked around before snapping her fingers.] Aha! I know exactly which flower you should do. It's a tiiiiny bit romantic, but the Forget Me Not would be perfect, would you like me to show them to you?

[consocius]

[When asked about the sunflowers, Sora crosses his arms over his chest as he considers. Sunflowers were pretty big, but they were also pretty sunny.]

Sure! Let's add more sunflowers to it. [Not like price was an issue here, so.

'Forget Me Nots,' huh? Sora ends up smiling just at the name. They sounded pretty good already, but he definitely wanted to see them first.]

Yeah! Can I see 'em?

[Usagi wrote down the notes for the bouquet and then paused at his question.]

Of course, one moment and I'll go get some. [She went over to them and brought back a small stalk of forget me nots.] These are them! What do you think bright blue with a very sweet message!

[consocius]

[Upon seeing the flowers, Sora's smile widens and his expression softens. Even his voice ends up dropping a little, as he reaches forward to touch one of the bright blue flowers.]

Yeah... Yeah, these are perfect.

[He looks back up at his helper.]

Uh, do you do like delivery? Not for this one, but the other one?

We deliver! I just need the address, though it is an extra fee, will that be alright?

[consocius]

Sure, that's fine. Okay, that one's for Nariko Lunae at-- [He gives her the address for Pride Records HQ, and the penthouse number for Cosmic Indulgence.]

Oh yeah, be sure that it says it's from me clear on the card and everything, okay? 'Cause if the guards there think it's from someone at Virgo they might not give it to her. [An unfortunate truth.]

[lightthedarkness]

Oh, ah... I will be sure to let them know, but ah, thank you for such information. [Truly, Sora, you have no idea.] We'll do the delivery tomorrow!

[consocius]

Hmm. [He crosses his arms over his chest in order to consider. What kind of message does one send with flowers? And these were sort of "sorry life has been going kind of rotten for you lately" flowers, too. So...]

Maybe like "The sun always shines again after the rain. Good things are waiting for you just around the corner?" Uh... I don't know how many characters that is, though.

[Usagi counted them all and then smiled.] That's 98! Perfect. We can put that on the card no problem!

[consocius]

Great! Okay, uh, about the other one. D'you think I'd be better off going with a bouquet or stick with, like, smaller?

[He scratches his cheek, looking sheepish. Truthfully he wants to give Jamie everything in the world, but that's not quite possible. He's trying to take into account what Jamie would like most too, because that's important, but he doesn't want to ask him (via text, because their talk via text is near constant) because he wants it to be a surprise.

First relationships, how do they work.]

Do what your heart tells you are right, you can never go wrong with that, sir. [She offered honestly.]

Think about the person you want to give it too, what would mean the most to them? Sometimes it doesn't have to be grand gestures. Even just a jacket around the shoulders when you're cold or a little post-it telling you that you'll be amazing is just as incredible and important as grand gestures and acts.

[consocius]

[He smiles wide at what she says, looking down again at the Forget Me Nots.]

Yeah... You're right. I'm gonna stick with the smaller. Just the one, I think. So I can surprise him with it. I think he'd like that.
