A Flower a Day Keeps the Bees at Play

A: Early Morning

Luna (and Mamoru) had learned long ago, that the way to get Usagi anywhere on time was to set her alarm clock an hour ahead. While Usagi knew the trick, she never bothered commenting on it because, well, it worked! She got up early, she got to things on time, and everyone was happy that she wasn’t late. Still, even if Usagi knew the trick, considering the situation she was currently in? She completely forgot to do it. After all, she liked sleeping in as much as the next person (probably more than the next person, actually)!

Which was why, running through the streets was the blonde bunny, in a bright white and blue dress, crying in dismay: "I’M LAAAAAATE! I’M LATE I’M LAAAATE!" with a bag on her shoulder and a lunch-box in hand. The rabbit was late and had no time to say hello or goodbye to those she was living with, she was late she was late she was late!

So frantic to get to work on time, she didn’t pay attention as she turned the corner...

And promptly smacked into someone, falling backwards and straight to the ground.

"OOOOOOOW!" she cringed and whimpered only a little. She rubbed her back, she paused to catch her breath, and then quickly popped right back up as if she hadn’t just fallen. She was so used to falling, honestly that it wasn’t something she couldn't handle. She didn’t have time to be upset, though, because not only was she late, and more importantly, she possibly just hurt someone!

"I’m so so so so so sorry! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she had to go but she didn’t want to abandon the person she just ran into. She bowed deeply. "Really, I’m so sorry!"



B: Throughout the Day

Usagi let out a sigh of relief as she had made it on time. The flower shop owner, Ophelia, merely chuckled to herself and commented about how nice it was to have such an energetic girl around the shop.

The older woman was actually incredibly kind to hire her on. Usagi explained that she had just moved in with all of her cousins after an accident involving their parents. Serena Lapin was doing everything she could to support her family, five girls and one boy! Ophelia was an older woman, bent over and needing a cane to walk, and her son and his best friend worked for her as it got harder for her to work by herself, but at seeing "Serena’s" eagerness and willingness to work, her friendly and open nature, well Ophelia commented that it would be nice to have another girl around, hiring the very day Usagi applied.

And, on top of Usagi’s paycheck, she got to take home flowers that were too old to sale or were damaged in such a way that they couldn’t be given to their customers. She had already taken a few damaged roses, plucked off the ruined petals and leaves and stuck them in her hair. But Usagi was also thinking that flower bouquets would be a great way to keep the house smelling lovely and feeling warm.

Usagi, or rather Serena Lapin was ready to work! With her pastel pink apron and the name badge with a little thistle at the end of it, she could face anything. She looked up when she heard the door chime and greeted the guest with a bright smile.

"Welcome to Thistle Do Nicely: A Flower for Every Occasion! My name is Serena, how can I help you today?"

"Oh that's a wonderful reason, flowers have such different meanings, after all. Ah but, if he's not responsive to flowers, we have cards as well." She relisted the names with a little dash next to their names so that she could specify which bouquet went where.

"Alright, whenever you're ready. Why don't we start with what you would like to give to Squalo and we can just go down the list, miss."

"Something red and and black edgey, Black Dahlias and hmmm, what red flowers would go well with the Dahlia's? Oh and there needs to be some other color to break it up. I want something beautiful." Tamara rambles.

Usagi tapped her pen against her nose in thought. "Well, we could do red roses and black Dahlias, with maybe some purple calla lilies for the color? Actually! We might have something you'll like, though it doesn't have any Dahlia flowers.""

She crouched down and grabbed the "Bouquet Book" that had many original special arrangements that Mrs. Ophelia had made over the decades. She flipped through several pages before giving a soft "aha!" and turned the binder to Tamara a lily and rose bouquet.

"What about something like this? Although we can certainly add Dahlia flowers if you definitely want them in the bouquet."

"That's perfect, add the Dahlias and put that in a vase." Squalo's artistry with a cello is striking and he deserves flowers like that.

Usagi wrote down the order and the amount of flowers and how much the bouquet would be with the additional Dahlia flowers before moving on to the next is Jecht! What would you like to do for this bouquet? Do you have a specific color scheme in mind or flower you want to use?"

"Red. Passion, but he's not the traditional red rose type. Red lilies. I would almost buy him red water lilies, but I'm strapped for time and he's not a gardener. I really like him, so I want them to be beautiful." She coos out to Usagi.

She giggled, absolutely thrilled to see someone so in love.

"I have two bouquets you might like."

She flipped through the pages and then showed a massive red tiger lily bouquet that was clearly more than a dozen.

"There's this one, or if you want something a bit smaller and elegant, we have this one," she said as she turned to another page. "We can put in any extra flowers in the first one, though the second one there's far less room for additional flowers because of the specific design in mind."

"He's a big, bold man. Give him the first bouquet." Jecht's getting all the red lilies.

"The massive tiger lilies it is! That just leaves Luce and Sariel. What shall we do for them?"

[scalpedsociety]

"With Luce I just think of white... blue... cool colors. But I'm unsure which flowers to give her." She thinks for a while. "Meanwhile Sariel's is a no brainer, red and white roses."

[lightthedarkness]

"What about white gladiolus flowers, blue violets, and maybe a few lilies? How does that sound? If you're alright with that, we can prepare delivery for tomorrow!"

"That sounds perfect, Serena! I have some special places I need the flowers delivered, so I'll be taking Squalo's and Jecht's. But everything you can deliver."

[lightthedarkness]

"Then please feel free to browse the shop as we get your two orders ready. It shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes or so." She gave a small bow before hopping into the back with the list to get everything ready.

About 15 minutes later or so, Usagi and one of the boys who had been working in the green house came out with the massive bouquet and Usagi had the smaller one.

"Will you need help taking the bigger one to your car, ma'am?" Usagi asked.

"No, I think Avery over there can handle it." Aramat points to the huge hulking guy next to her.

Usagi glanced over to him and nodded before giving a little bow.

"Alright, please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you. Thank you so much for your patronage! Please come again soon!" she said as Avery took the bigger bouquet and Christopher went to get the door.

A day after, there's a nice little tip for Serena and and basket of homemade sweets for her. Also a message:
