☆A little little fun

Who: Those who signed up to perform, and anyone else
What: The Double S Charity Concert is go!
When: January 24th throughout the day
Where: Archer Park
Warnings: None planned

☆A Little Little Fun

On the morning of the 24th, the sun rises over Vista City and, more importantly, Archer Park- a series of rooftop parks connected to each other by bridges and overflowing greenery of all sorts. It's a popular on most days to start with. Today, however, is the day of the Double S Charity Concert. Thus, it's more packed than usual.

One of the park "islands" is home to a concert stage, and that is where the concert is taking place. All throughout the next couple of days, various musicians will perform songs they've written about or dedicated to another in the industry. With the entertainment value of the idea and the fame of the musicians, of course the place is packed.

The stage is where every musician will end up at throughout the day, performing for the masses, but behind it is also a rest area for them to either bide their time or just hang out. It's supposed to be restricted to just those musicians participating, but frankly... security is lax just enough that bandmates and the such could duck on in to see their friends. No fans, however, sorry. It's not the most impressive of places, with seating areas and a salad bar and all the pizza that could possibly be ordered, but hopefully it's good enough. This is also where one can find event organizer Jenny around, in case they need to bring anything up.

Of course, no one is required to stay back there while waiting their turn, or after they've done their performance. Attempts to raise money go beyond just the concert. Double S has all sorts of stalls set up, whether to explain to people the various causes they can specifically pledge support to, or to sell merchandise. Can't forget the food stalls. There is, of course, a stall showing adoptable animals. There always is.

Finally, there's one last thing Double S has set up for any willing celebrities. It's a meet-and-greet area for the fans, where they have the chance to meet their favorite musicians. Giving out autographs, taking pictures with fans... There's even a karaoke set up for everyone to use. Musicians can sing solo, or with others from their label, or even with a lucky fan. AKA feel free to get NPC MP here. Hopefully, it'll get some good publicity for those interested in that kind of thing.

Tickets have been made astonishingly cheap in the hopes that more people will show, with anything else being made up by merchandise sales or donations.

[If there was one thing that Jack has learned in his life, that was people never really paid attention tot he details. Sure, they pay attention to certain things like how many people were around them or if anyone was holding a weapon, but they never really paid attention past a certain point. All he ever needed to do in a lot of situations was to just act like he belonged until someone with a little more intelligence then most decided that he didn't belong. And once he hit that point, there was always a brief moment of confusion as he apologized and tried to slip away that he could take to his advantage.

Take this concert going on. Certainly the paying seats were the ones in front of the stage. That was a given. But with the mulling about people were doing and the rather loud - at least let's face to his ears that never experienced electronic instruments before - noise, there was a lack of people making sure that everyone was paying. So he managed to find a good spot where he can watch the strange gyrations going on the stage and fumble his way using his communicator to list off the people who appeared in case someone knows these people.

After which Jack decided to see just how far he can wander in this place. Which meant that there was a rather odd character drifting around, hands waving, body swaying and golden tooth grinning at everything he sees. He may just accidentally blunder into a few people, but luckily for those people he at least has had a bath and discovered toothpaste in the last couple of days.

However, he still smells a bit of rum.]

I begging your pardon, I didn't see you there.

It's nothing. [doesn't think too oddly of the guy's appearance considering the fair number and variety of fans this kind of thing attracts. He puts his hands in his pockets casually, making sure his notebook is still there and offers a bland smile]

First time to something like this?
dishonestlyhonest: (lemme think)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-01 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[He wouldn't know who this guy was or if he was one of the captured slaves. Jack had only a general idea and even in this press of people, he couldn't tell a fan from a musician. They all dressed alike in most cases, though the fans tended to have less expensive choices then the artists.

He grinned, leaning in slightly to wave a finger in the space between their noses.]

You can say that. [He did pull back a little, glancing around and waving his hand in a general direction of the throngs.] It's much bigger then anything back home, though... [He thought about the general chaos a simple stroll down one of Shipwreck City's byways, the parties that never stopped in Tortuga.]

It's about the same in general noise.

[he grins] Just wait until the boozers get going... not to mention the rollers. It's not a wild party until someone tries to hump the speakers.

[and since he's curious]

You with a label or just a fan?
dishonestlyhonest: (you have)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-05 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't that be a wee bit... electrifying?

[He was proud of himself to remember the word and of making a pun with that word. He only knew about electricity for about a week now, and it still was a bit disconcerting to just press a button to get light instead of fumble around with matches and a tinderbox. It was like with baths. He just boggled at how people took things for granted.]

Ahh... [He can't really say that he was in a band, nor was he particularly impressed by all the loud noises (although one part of him could just imagine old Teague on stage doing a thing with a guitar and that image was just plain hurtful).] Yes?

I mean, yes, I'm a fan. [He was trying not to appear puzzled too much by the term. Fans were made to cool things off. Did this guy need someone to cool him off?] Enjoying the sights. as t'were.

[Sabo laughs]

When you're that high, I wonder if you can even feel it.

[he puts his hands in his pockets and looks around]

There's plenty to see here... [he tilts his head, eyeing the guy. Wondering why he seems somewhat out of place. Maybe he just wanted to scope out the scene]

Anyone you want to be introduced to? Or would you just like to get a drink?
dishonestlyhonest: (wind in ur sails)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-22 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose there is that as well.

[Not that he would ever want to try it. Jack has a feeling that if he were to try it, he would end up a lot like those delicacies Miss Bunny had shown him, all curled and crunchy and maybe tasting a bit like hot oil.]

A lot more than what was on me island back home... [He waved his hands vaguely around him, trying to encompass all the people moving here and there and the noise.]

I'm always up for a drink.
vivelarevolution: (hey cool)

[personal profile] vivelarevolution 2016-02-26 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
On me, then. [said as he starts to work his way to the bar. The first one anyway. After that you're on your own. He smiles faintly at the talk of an island. Ahh, he wants to go. There's something about islands and sea life. Something freeing.]

Tell me about your island.
dishonestlyhonest: (lemme think)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-29 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Don't mind if I do.

[Ah, he did like the sound of that, even if he would have to buy anything after the first glass. Maybe he won't bother with getting more than one or two drinks, but that might be a shame if he was going to do any sort of talking here.]

Me island... [Well, that ruled out Shipwreck Island. As much as it was his home, it was also too distinctive for anyone to hear about it. It also ruled out a few other places he liked to stay at, which meant, well, Port Royal.]

It's a small place, with a lot of simple folk really. Mainly fisherman and small time farmers and nothing too special or flashy, though the smith can be a bit sloshed most days.
vivelarevolution: (look)

[personal profile] vivelarevolution 2016-03-06 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a calm sort of place. [for some reason he looks a little rougher around the edges than his island is implying, but what does Sabo know? Frankly nothing about that kind of life so he shrugs.

He gets to the bar and waves down the barman and after they both order adds]

In that case what brings you here to the city? Searching for a new start on life or is just a sort of guys just want to have fun sort of thing.
hanginginthere: (run and tell all of the angels)

[personal profile] hanginginthere 2016-02-06 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Shen is doing his darned best not to be seen. he's most certainly got his camera out for this, and after his performance, he's changing clothes first chance he gets in to a somewhat more...subtle outfit. one he thinks he can blend in to the crowd with, at least.

even if some them are rather...different today. still, he tries to get a picture of some- only to get bumped in to another, yelping in surprise and fumbling to keep hold of his camera]

Careful-!
dishonestlyhonest: (that's a puzzle)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-09 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
My apologies yet again.

[He dipped into a slight bow, palms of his hands together, his fingers touching his chin as he did so. He wasn't sure who this fellow was, but he kept an eye on the strange device he had in case it did head for the ground. If anything, he wanted to make sure he didn't accidentally step on it and maybe even attempt to catch it if the owner couldn't keep his grip.]

There's so many things going on that I wasn't paying attention to where me feets were.
hanginginthere: (this could take all night)

[personal profile] hanginginthere 2016-02-15 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[that...

is a weird way of talking. Shen pulls his hands back as the stranger catches his camera, a little taken aback. maybe he's just a big fan of...someone's. he doesn't...think he really recognizes the aesthetic, and he's good with aesthetic.

but after a moment, he reaches out, palm-up]

...it's okay. Just give it back.
dishonestlyhonest: (well yes)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-15 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hm? Oh, this?

[He held up the camera, giving a look like he had never seen anything like it before in his life - which is the complete truth - and then placing it on the offered hand, taking care to show that he was being careful with it. That done, he spread his hands out, fingers wiggling a little as Jack decided to play up his more fey tendencies.]

I must say that this here is a lot bigger than I could've imagined. When I was told 'twas a popular concert, I did not expect there to be more to it than a few songs.
hanginginthere: (run rabbit run)

[personal profile] hanginginthere 2016-02-15 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[pleasedon'tdropitpleasedon'tdropitpleasedon't

Shen visibly relaxes when he gets his camera back, quickly clutching it close to his chest. he gives a quick few glances down as he turns it over, looking for scratches, before looking back up with a little frown]

Where are you from? I mean...even if everybody's going by themselves, this is small.
dishonestlyhonest: (oo impressed?)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-15 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
[There were many things that Jack was, but one of them was not clumsy. At least when he had just the right amount of rum.

He tapped his fingers against his teeth as he thought about the question. He knew that he was suppose to keep things underwraps. He knew he wasn't suppose to say much about the when and where and whyforths. But seriously, this was a bit crowded even compared to a regular London street, at least the kind that he was use to.

So.

Might as well play around a little. here.]

The Caribbeans. Most specifically a rather dull little island with plenty of sun and surf but lacking the the wild and imaginative to-dos like this one here. Videos and such do not make up for the lack therefor of, aye?
hanginginthere: (think i need a devil to help me)

[personal profile] hanginginthere 2016-02-15 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
[that's...a long way away. and while that can answer quite a bit about the weird man - Shen's never been to the Caribbeans, maybe they all act like that there - they raise a few more questions.

he brings his camera up just a bit more.]

Then...what're you doing here?
dishonestlyhonest: (ahh yeah that)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-15 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
I decided to seek out me fortunes and view the world without having to worry 'bout such things as money and ties to anything. Unfortunately, the money part seem to have brought me to a sudden halt in this place.

[Spinning the lies with the truths was almost as natural to him as it was to sail the Pearl through a storm. This was him, Jack, at his most natural tongue twisting way.]

So I've been generally here and there, but especially at the 'Ye Shipwrecked Temple' - Pub and General Pirate Show.
hanginginthere: (don't sit down)

[personal profile] hanginginthere 2016-02-21 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[translation; he got bored and started to wander, now he's broke. it takes him a minute to parse it, though, but it makes sense...sort of.

the very, very slightest of only-so-pleasant smiles curls Shen's lips. he's not necessarily a mean person, but he can't resist...]

You could probably find a better place to look for talent. [beat] Or being seen, if you were trying to rise up.
dishonestlyhonest: (gee me without rum)

[personal profile] dishonestlyhonest 2016-02-22 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose, if I was really looking to do that, mate.

[Seen by the people in this place? Especially those that he thinks might actually be hideous creatures from the depth of Davy Jones' deepest nightmares? No thank you. Jack was many things, but being ridiculously brave was not one of them.]

I'm only making port for as long as I can gain sufficient enough funds to put wind in me sails and find a new port to stop in.
hanginginthere: (this could take all night)

[personal profile] hanginginthere 2016-03-05 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
So you spent money on a ticket here...?

[he thinks there were tickets. he can't remember. it was for charity, right, so tickets would raise money?]
