When: January 24th throughout the day
Where: Archer Park

☆A Little Little Fun

On the morning of the 24th, the sun rises over Vista City and, more importantly, Archer Park- a series of rooftop parks connected to each other by bridges and overflowing greenery of all sorts. It's a popular on most days to start with. Today, however, is the day of the Double S Charity Concert. Thus, it's more packed than usual.

One of the park "islands" is home to a concert stage, and that is where the concert is taking place. All throughout the next couple of days, various musicians will perform songs they've written about or dedicated to another in the industry. With the entertainment value of the idea and the fame of the musicians, of course the place is packed.

The stage is where every musician will end up at throughout the day, performing for the masses, but behind it is also a rest area for them to either bide their time or just hang out. It's supposed to be restricted to just those musicians participating, but frankly... security is lax just enough that bandmates and the such could duck on in to see their friends. No fans, however, sorry. It's not the most impressive of places, with seating areas and a salad bar and all the pizza that could possibly be ordered, but hopefully it's good enough. This is also where one can find event organizer Jenny around, in case they need to bring anything up.

Of course, no one is required to stay back there while waiting their turn, or after they've done their performance. Attempts to raise money go beyond just the concert. Double S has all sorts of stalls set up, whether to explain to people the various causes they can specifically pledge support to, or to sell merchandise. Can't forget the food stalls. There is, of course, a stall showing adoptable animals. There always is.

Finally, there's one last thing Double S has set up for any willing celebrities. It's a meet-and-greet area for the fans, where they have the chance to meet their favorite musicians. Giving out autographs, taking pictures with fans... There's even a karaoke set up for everyone to use. Musicians can sing solo, or with others from their label, or even with a lucky fan. AKA feel free to get NPC MP here. Hopefully, it'll get some good publicity for those interested in that kind of thing.

Tickets have been made astonishingly cheap in the hopes that more people will show, with anything else being made up by merchandise sales or donations.

[A vast, graceful shrug, his smirk turning into a smile.] It was a rite of passage, and you had every reason to protect your pride. [Yep, he just made an obvious pun: he couldn't resist.]

Shall we roam among the stalls, or would you rather I found you a drink and brought it back here to the rest area?

[After the incident at Virgo, Tamara is leery of other people getting her drinks. Even if it's from a bandmate. She wraps an arm around his.]

Lets see what the stalls have.

A wise decision, though I hope that the fans can keep a respectful distance from you. Perhaps my presence will make them more amenable to treating a lady like a lady?

[He'll proffer his arm to her with a smile, ever the proper gentleman.]

You haven't seen some of my fans. But I'm grateful for your presence.

Ahh, more respectful of you than a lot of fans - and rival fans - are toward the object of their fancies? That's good to hear. [Admittedly, he might still be a little skittish after the incident when he arrived at Pride HQ.]

[If she takes his arm, he guide her out of the stage area and along the edges of the park, among the stalls and booths that line it...]

[There's the incident at the bar, the time she was chased after with Garnet... yeah, she kind of wants Sariel by her side.]

So... despite the all the coldness I showed you earlier, I do know a little bit about you. You were a Gothic indie king before you signed, with a fanbase all your own. How are they treating you now that you're big?

[A gentle, even slightly embarrassed chuckle, but pleased.]

I hope the sound quality on some of my earlier works isn't too choppy: some of them were recorded in less than ideal studios. There have been some rumblings back in the North East, how I've sacrificed the East Coast for the West Coast, how I've sacrificed art for a regular paycheck. And then there was that one buffoon with the article in some religious rag, who couldn't even spell my name right and sees my work as some male siren call to perdition: I'd say I'd made my bones. Once you've managed to tick off the rigidly religious, you've more or less made it as an entertainer and not just as an artist, in my understanding.

Admittedly, I got a little tired of couch-surfing and renting cramped recording spaces with archaic equipment: I wanted the chance to spread my wings a bit, to work in a genuinely professional environment. To be taken somewhat seriously, I suppose. But, of course, one gets the hecklers who don't see it that way.

I liked it, some people aren't into perfection. Reminds me of my old bands. Recording in all kinds of places if acoustics were good enough. I would bring it back if we were allowed.

[Tamara shakes her head with a smile.] Then you're in the right place. According to some, Crown of Thorns promotes 'rampant homosexuality and blatant rejection of traditional gender roles'.

Mmmm! a place with character and excellent acoustics and ambiance is a thing of delight, however, I kept ending up in recording studios that reminded me of... a file cabinet [said with a wry chuckle] and with about the same timbre. And then there was the reel to reel cassette deck that seemed to be recording EVPs, even though there'd been previous evidence of ghosts on the premesis.

[A pause, then a small smile.] When I talk about it now, it doesn't seem quite so spartan.

[A gentle laugh, his good eye crinkling.] I'd be the first to say I'm not the most masculine man, at least by modern heteronormative standards, so I'm glad that I meet your exacting standards [The last two words are said playfully]. ...I might have seen that article, while I was in the process of dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's on my contract...

[By now, they might have come up to a booth offering shaved ice, frozen lemonade and other sweets and similar drinks. He glances toward it.]

Care for some frozen lemonade? It's something of a specialty in the North East...

"It's January, but I'll take some." After all, he's paying.

"If it's too chilly for you and if you welcome it, I'd lend you my jacket," he offers gallantly, before turning to order two frozen lemonades for them.

"Is eating cold things during the winter a thing in the northeast?" She asks.

[personal profile] psyvampexperiment 2016-02-22 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
"As a matter of fact it is: either it gets too cold for us to care, or we start yearning for something sweet to the point that we can no longer resist the temptation," he says, offering her a cup with a green spoon-straw sticking out of a good-sized scoop of what looks like a slightly softened lemon popsicle off its stick. "And sometimes, it's a good way to brace yourself for the cold weather, if that makes sense."
