The return to life as they know it is swift thanks to Mr. Patil, but they still have time to get up to a whole new set of shenanigans...

02/07 (PENTHOUSE - CLOSED TO FLASHSTEP)

[Some time on February 7th, Maxxie sends out a mass text to all the guys. It's when he knows they're all at home, and none of them have an excuse not to show up. The text reads as such:]

team meeting in the kitchen right now. very important!

[Any responses asking for more clarification just earn some angry emoticons and reinforcement that it is happening right now. He also doesn't say anything until everyone's assembled, rebuffing complaints with "this'll only take a minute." Once everyone's together, he starts.]

Alright, so I have an announcement, and I'm telling you all at once because I don't want to say it over and over again.

[He takes a deep breath.]

I have a boyfriend now. And he's gonna be coming by here and hanging out with me and you have to be nice to him. You can't be weird. And you can't tell anyone. We're not going public with it yet, so no tweets and no telling your friends about it either.

[And then he's done. And it's a bit awkward.] Well, that's it. You can all go back to your rooms now.

[mildwildchild]

[Jamie raises his hand.]

What if he's a dick, do we still have to be nice to him?

[Maxxie you thought Bali Pope was hot and slept with Alec Campion, your taste in men is suspect.]

[consocius]

[Okay, awkward for some. Not really awkward on Sora's end, because he's ecstatic and gets up from where he'd been sitting in order to hug Maxxie pretty much immediately.]

That's great! Are you guys happy? Who is he?

[Oh my god Jamie. Maxxie rolls his eyes.]

He's not a dick. I wouldn't ask a jerk to be my boyfriend.

[notahobby]

Yeah, I mean... so far. It's only been two days, you know?

[The way he's smiling to himself it's pretty obvious that he's over the moon about it though.]

And it's, uh... Terry from Cosmic Indulgence.

[JAMIE WILL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT]

Okay, so who is he?

I know Terry! I like him, he's a good guy. I bet you guys will be really great together.

[He can't stop smiling. If Maxxie was looking for support from his band, he's got it from Sora at the very least.]

I'm really happy for you, Maxxie. And don't worry, I can keep it secret.

[Jamie looks surprised, though not unpleasantly so.]

I didn't even know you guys knew each other. Yeah, he's pretty cool.

[Maxxie can't help his grin.]

Yeah, we haven't really talked about the whole... media thing, like whether we're gonna go public, you know?

[notahobby]

[That tempers his attitude a little bit.]

Yeah, well, we weren't really telling anyone we were hanging out I guess.

[consocius]

[Sora nods, folding his arms over his chest in thought.]

Hmm. Yeah, I can understand being concerned about that. I'm kinda surprised you told all of us so quickly... Only two days!

[He casts a quick glance to wherever Jamie is in the room before turning back to Maxxie, smiling again.]

[mildwildchild]

How come?

[He's genuinely curious.]

[Maxxie gives a noncommittal shrug, looking a little uncomfortable with the subject.]

Well, he's pretty discrete about that kind of thing... not that we weren't also just hanging out or anything.

[notahobby]

[Maxxie raises his eyebrows, surprised that Sora would think he would keep anything like that to himself for too long.] Well, you guys are my best friends. And I wanted him to feel like he could come over here when he wanted and we wouldn't have to act like we're not together.

[mildwildchild]

[Jamie nods and, noting Maxxie's discomfort, backs off.]

Yeah, I guess I get that. Was he nervous about all of us knowing? How's he been doing anyway, y'know, with all the...shit that went down. [Vague wobbly hand gesture.] You probably see him more than I do and he probably tells you more about what's going on with him.

[Were you expecting a pre-installed vested interest in your boyfriend Maxxie because that's a thing.]

[Maxxie frowns. Just how close are Jamie and Terry already? He should definitely investigate this further.]

He... doesn't really want to talk about it, I guess. But he seems alright.

[mildwildchild]

[Jamie notices the frown, assumes he's being obnoxious, and tries backing off again.]

...sorry, I'm probably being weird again, huh. But Terry's a good guy. I'm glad you picked someone like him.

[Brofist?]

[Maxxie returns the brofist with an amused smile, shaking his head as his humour comes back right away. He raises an eyebrow at Jamie.]

So, you won't be weird if he comes over to hang out with me?

2/8 - 2/12

02-08-55. 3:15AM. FLASHSTEP PENTHOUSE. [ for Jamie ]

At this point, it doesn't strike Sora as unusual at all when Jamie can't sleep and seeks him out to do something in the middle of the night. Sometimes Sora just pulls him into his own bed with him instead because Jamie can only go so long without sleep. But then other times Sora can't sleep either. It's been easier this past month, but the feelings he gets from Pride higher ups is still unsettling enough to make him restless some nights.

In the wee hours of this morning, they'd decided to watch some sci-fi series on the television instead of sleeping, something with robots. Sora actually doesn't get too far into it, sitting close up and comfortable against Jamie's side with a blanket thrown over their laps, before he falls asleep with his head on the other boy's shoulder.

ALL WEEK. ANYTIME. ANYWHERE. [ open to all ]

Doodling has been a hobby of Sora's from the start, though ever since he'd gotten called into Lesedi's office he seems to be far more secretive about what he's doodling. And he stops whenever there's a Pride presence other than his friends around. Previously it was just pencil and pen or whatever, but it seems he's gotten colored pencils involved now. His artwork still isn't anything to write home about, definitely deserving the label of "doodle" more than anything. But he's not drawing to show others, he's drawing for himself.

Mostly this happens in the Flashstep penthouse, and most often when he's in his room or away from their manager's eyes. When there is a Pride presence around other than close friends, his doodles seem to stick to inconspicuous landscapes. A beach. Some jungle. Underwater scenes. A city. The doodles he's more secretive about appear to be vague outlines of people: someone with white hair, green eyes; someone with red hair, blue eyes; two people with blonde hair, one short and one long, both with blue eyes. There are also keys of all assorted shapes and sizes, sometimes dark creatures with yellow eyes. And, possibly most odd of all: a clothed duck and dog that appears to walk on two legs. Occasionally, some sort of wand is drawn with the duck, and a shield with the dog.

[band mates are free to see any of the above drawings if they come into his room, but anyone else will only ever see the scenery drawings, which really could be anywhere or mean anything. he's very careful about this.]

02-12-55. 10:11AM. FLASHSTEP PENTHOUSE. [ for band mates ]

It's a breakfast gathering like any other, and Sora's chewing thoughtfully on a piece of bacon from his plate piled with food when he asks a question directed to anyone in the nearby vicinity: "Do you think Mr. Patil would let us have a pet?"

[I'm okay with making the time/date more fuzzy on any of these if needed. And as always prose or action spam style tags are both cool, I'll follow your lead. Other than that, hit me with something else if you wanna?]

[That gets Maxxie an "are you kidding?" look.]

What? No. We're cool. We got past the whole trying to punch each other thing, like, months ago.

What - why would you try to punch each other?

I can't even really remember. It was during lockdown, though.

If it makes you feel any better, I started it.

[Maxxie's expression is the long-suffering one of someone who has a feeling he's getting into something weird and is far too familiar with it.]

That does make me feel better, yeah.

[He looks very contemplative about all of this.]

Yeah, it's good to share stuff with your best friends, but when it's love I think it also makes sense to like... want to protect it, especially when you're still figuring stuff out, or like if the other person has a hard time sharing stuff sometimes anyway, then you might want to protect them too. And sometimes you wanna do both, like you want everyone to know but you also wanna keep it for just the two of you for as long as you can, because then it feels like it's your own secret world when the two of you are together.
