Out on the Town

[There's a few knocks at the door to Nariko's place, the boy arriving on time just as he said he would. He's dressed in something rather trendy, with a light jacket for the weather. He waits patiently, fidgeting a little bit as he thinks of how he's going to approach this, reassuring himself that it'll be great. He has all these expectations of how it will go, thought of some smooth moves he could pull later on her, the whole nine yards. He's got this. He absolutely has this.

But now it's a matter of execution! Either way, he stands confidently for her to answer the door so they could go to the movie and have some fun out on the town.]

[Yosuke could run himself in circles for as long as he liked, but given a few extra seconds after the knocks the door is being yanked open. There's a split second where she has to process who is in front of her but she breaks out into a huge grin once her head catches up with her actions.]

God, am I happy to see you.

[And since she's already dressed and ready to go with her white, heart-shaped purse, Nariko's already moving to come out, closing the door behind her.]

Mr. Kim has been driving me insane and Koumei won't do his hair, this is almost worse than being on the tour bus. [What do those two things have to do with each other? Who knows.]

[punchesyu]

[His own breath catches in his throat at her appearance. She looked good, and his face showed it. He blinks a few times, before collecting himself to process her words.]

What the heck happened? Is everything okay?

[Because being on the tour bus was hell sometimes. He knows!]

[gunslingerqueen]

My brother's a slob and no one appreciates a day off.

[She waves a hand because, really, all of this is pretty standard.] Just the usual music making and prepping for the album release, all of that.

[Now that they're closed off from her penthouse she gives him a big smile.] But how are you!

[She really did kind of, sort of miss him.]

You know, same old same old. We're prepping for an album release too, so it's been pretty crazy. I can't believe we even got the day off today!

[He's trying not to think of what happened on one of his other days off. Trying to.]

But you know, forcibly hanging out with the rest of the guys, gigs, interviews. Just the way it goes, right? [He winks. He totally wasn't reliving a horrible moment in his mind or anything.]

[gunslingerqueen]

Right. [Suddenly she's reminded of how nice it is to hang around with someone who Gets It. Makes things easier.] Basically this means I need to look out for you guys! I want to read everything you guys signed up for.

[This is less 'creepy fan' and more 'supportive friend' vibe-ish, her way of wanting to support Flashstep which doesn't just include Yosuke, but one of her best friends, too.] I'm sure you all look perfect, ready to steal every teenage girl's heart!

[She sighs dramatically while heading the necessary way out of the penthouse.]

[punchesyu]

Yeah, you wouldn't believe who's other hearts we steal.

[He says with a sidelong glance, walking with her until they finally exit the penthouse and start walking down the street towards the nearby theater. That is Another Nightmare that is separate from the gay bar and oh my god sometimes he can't believe his life.]

[gunslingerqueen]

Hm?

[She didn't catch it the first time around, but this time...] Did something interesting happen?

[Of course it's said in that way that's gently prying and mostly curious. If the memory is really that horrible she won't make him talk about it! Probably.]

[punchesyu]

Well, uh!!! Nothing big or anything! We weren't doing anything wrong at all!

[Shit, shit, he already said too much! He's kind of sweating at this point, desperately hoping that they were near the theater so that he might be able to dodge the question. It's still a few blocks down the road- Nariko has ample time.]

[gunslingerqueen]

You realize that makes it sound like you were totally doing something wrong.

[It's supposed to be a question but after the way he reacts, she can't pretend to frame it that way. She knows something is up and that sneaking grin on her face means that her objective has changed: now she will needle him out of it. Through bribery, if necessary.]

[punchesyu]

C'mon, you don't think someone like me could possibly pull anything, right?

[He asks innocently, but not without some worry still echoing in his voice. He hopes she'll just give it up.]

[gunslingerqueen]

I think you could pull off all sorts of things, Yosuke!

[He wouldn't be crazy to think that there was a flirtatious hint to those words. It's a selfish one, of course, she wants to know what happened and the best way to get to that is ... Working her own angles, so to speak!]

[punchesyu]

[Yosuke's face flushes a very light pink. He's not sure what that was supposed to mean, but god does he hope it means what he thinks it means.]

Oh man-! Uh! [Oh shit did that just come out of his mouth]

I mean, it wasn't all that bad! We just ended up somewhere that we weren't expecting...! And there were some things that I saw that I never wanted to see...I mean...

[He laughs awkwardly. He hadn't meant to say that. Crap.]

[S c o r e!!!]

Where was somewhere? You keep teasing me and it's not fair.

[This time it's not her tone but the words themselves. He'd make it easier on himself if he just went ahead and spilled everything, because she's got five hundred tricks, and all of them will work. She's sure of that much.

Although they are nearing the theater so she's also running out of time.]

[punchesyu]

I...don't know if I want to talk about it.

[From the tone of his voice, it sounded embarrassing. Horrible. The worst. He even closes his eyes, unwillingly remembering the night's events.]

[gunslingerqueen]

[... Aw man, she can't really try to get it out of him when he sounds so miserable. While the idea of not knowing bothers her she lets it go as easily as she happened to latch on.

But in exchange, she hooks one of her arms with Yosuke's.]

Whatever it was, you're here now, right? So everything is okay.

[punchesyu]

[His face instantly brightens when she hooks her arm around his, as it comes as a nice surprise. He grins a cheeky grin, happy to dispel the terrible memory.]

That's right! [He says a little too quickly.] We're going out and having a good time! There isn't anything that can possibly go wrong! A movie date with a beautiful girl!

[It sounds like he's trying to convince himself that he is, indeed, with a girl. Not with guys dressed as girls. An actual, real live girl.]

[gunslingerqueen]

[What did he see that he has to put an emphasis on her looks? Not that it's a bad thing, compliments are always welcome, but it just makes her wonder a little ...

Anyway. She squeezes his arm affectionately.]

You have to tell me if you aren't a popcorn person now, don't break my heart at the counter.

[She's let go of the Mysterious Event so, for now: Mild chitchat.]

Wha? [Her squeeze and question seem to bring him out of what could be considered a nightmare in broad daylight. He seems to snap back into reality.]

Of course I like popcorn! I mean, who doesn't? Extra butter, right?

[He's very thankful for the topic change. The theater is in sight now, and he strains to see what movies are displayed outside of it. In his panic, he forgot what was playing.]

[gunslingerqueen]

There are people who don't like popcorn, they're deeply concerning. [A grin, here.] Extra butter and salt!

[This is going to bomb her diet for at least the next few weeks but: Worth it! But Nariko hasn't forgotten about what they briefly mentioned seeing, and she points out the title.] You still wanted to watch the action one, right?

[There's a fair enough variety and it's not like she hates spontaneity, so asking isn't a bad idea.]

[punchesyu]

Oh yeah! [Now he remembers. Thank god for Nariko reminding him.]

Don't worry m'lady, it's on me today. [He'll lead her inside, to buy tickets and popcorn. Sodas too. He doesn't mind covering- because he's trying to impress. He even grins a dumb grin to lay on the "suave". Which isn't very suave at all, really.]

[gunslingerqueen]

You don't have to!

[She has her own money! ... Is it really right to let him pay? Shouldn't they go half on it all? But while Yosuke certainly isn't suave that same grin does assuage her worries. He really doesn't mind ... Maybe she should try to pay for something else later on.]

[punchesyu]

No, no, I insist!

[He gets his wallet out, and pays for the two of them, gets the tickets, drinks and the popcorn, and proceeds to walk towards the theater they were told to go to.]

I'm totally psyched! The reviews on this were amazing! Plus, the two leads in it are appearing on a talkshow later this week...that we're performing as musical guests at! So, I figured it'd be good to do my research a little bit...

[He's totally bragging, trying to make himself seem cool...]

[gunslingerqueen]

[But it actually is a little cool that he's going to be on a talk show with them! Her eyes widen a little bit at that, and it quickly shifts into a bright grin.] Oh, man, I wonder if you'll be able to talk with them a little bit!

[She really shouldn't be particularly starstruck considering that she's in a legitimate band.] If you don't get a picture with the lead actress then it'll be the worst.

[That chick was hot, okay.]

[punchesyu]

I'm sure sneaking backstage won't be an issue! [He totally planned on it. He'll be a little annoyed if he doesn't get to at least meet them.]

When I get a picture, I'll mention you on Twitter to make sure you see it. [He's so cocky, he's so sure he'll get a selfie with her. Spoilers: He doesn't later.]

[At least Nariko is more reasonable, she knows there's a fair chance he won't! But she also can't even think of dashing his hopes about the matter!] Then I'll watch out for it when you guys are done performing, and thank you personally later on.

[It's almost like she can't help flirting every other minute. But it went without saying that she'd tune it for them, if nothing else.

But as they find the right theater and end up facing the array of seats...] Front, middle, or very back?

[Yet another important question when movie viewing.]
