Honestly, it's not a big enough apartment for everyone living there. "Furnished" evidently doesn't mean "quality furniture," but there are enough places to sleep to go around; the floors are scuffed; the front door sticks; the walls are (thankfully) thick. It's not the greatest place ever, but at least for now, it's home.

"A sunny room sounds... better," she said, nudging the carpet with her hoof. "Ah can be myself there."

"Sunny room it is, then," she nodded as they began their search. The first bedroom door was locked, but the second was empty and indeed, sunny. She smiled as she gestured for Applejack to go in first.

After they both headed in, she closed the door behind them and tilted her head. "I'm sorry you can't be yourself, Applejack."

It was pretty easy to see how down Applejack was, so she was not surprised by what Usagi said. She sighed and put her front hooves up on the windowsill so that she could look out at the scenery.

"Ah just... Ah've never done anythin' like this before, where Ah wasn't able to help out or couldn't be me."

"Well, why is it you can't help out? Who says you can't do that?"

[deciderly]

"How am Ah s'pposed t'help out if Ah can't do anything?" she asked, turning her head to look at Usagi. "Either Ah have t'run around pretendin' t'be a dog that can't talk, or Ah gotta stay invisible."

[lightthedarkness]

"Well now, hey, who says you can't do anything? Just because you can't do anything out in the open, doesn't mean you can't do anything! There's so much you could do to help, Applejack. You just have to look at it in a way that may be a bit different than you are used to."

[deciderly]

It was the same thing Frisk had told her, or at least something similar. Applejack shrugged and looked out the window again. "What can Ah do?"

[lightthedarkness]

"Well for starters, there's helping around the house and making sure everything is taken care of there. I know that doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but I know for some, they've never had to do such a thing before. And there's also making sure everyone is in good health and taken care of, more people are even worse at that," she laughed, trying to make a joke and hoping it would at least get a smile.

"But it's not just about keeping house and keeping everyone's health in mind. We can find some way to use your invisibility? Ah... I'm not... the brightest, but I'm sure we can find someone who would know how best to use that ability. Maybe you can stay in the lobby or something and listen in on all the conversations. Or maybe you can help at a farm, although I don't think they would pay you. But you aren't useless, you've never been useless and I never want you to think you have been."

Applejack knew she wasn't useless. She didn't think that. She was just having a difficult time figuring out what to do. Though, maybe Usagi was on to something about listening in on conversations. Applejack didn't know if she could be stealthy, but she could at least try, couldn't she?

She shrugged again, still not very inspired, and not feeling confident. It was... a strange feeling. She didn't like it. "Ain't no point in workin' on a farm if it doesn't help get my friends back. Ah s'ppose Ah could check in on everypony."

[lightthedarkness]

"Would it make you feel better if we went together? At least the first time?" she asked, still worried about the pony. "Is there anything I can do? We're friends, Applejack, I want you to know you can come to me about anything."

[deciderly]

Went together? "Where would we go?"

Oh! Well, to the record tower lobbies. Everyone can enter those!

[deciderly]

Oh. [that was something AJ hadn't thought about before. she could enter the record tower invisibly! then, maybe she could search for her friends] Yeah, Ah guess we can do that.

Forgive my sudden change in style

"Alright, we'll figure out when is a good time to go, and I'll accompany you. Ah, maybe you can come with me when I deliver flowers to the towers. I have to go to the labels all the time for the flower shop."

[deciderly]

Applejack nodded, looking a bit more relaxed. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." She would have to be quiet, but maybe she would be able to find Rarity and Pinkie Pie.

[lightthedarkness]

The sight of her being more relaxed was as much as she was going to get, she figured. She understood how Applejack felt, not being able to help her loved ones, but AJ must feel even worse. Usagi only ha to pretend under a different name, Applejack had to be completely invisible or pretend to be a dog.

"You can always come to me about anything, Applejack. I hope you know that."

The little pony nodded again, this time offering Usagi a real smile. As helpless as she felt, Applejack could not deny that she was making true friends here. Everypony was in the same boat, more or less. They all wanted to rescue somepony. Even the ones that didn't have brainwashed friends, they were still here to help.

"Ah... Ah know that. Thanks a lot, Bunny. The same goes fer you."

[lightthedarkness]

"Thank you, Applejack, I can't stand seeing my friends upset, so please just me know if you need anything." She smiled as she stood up.

"Why don't we head back and join everyone? I think I saw some snacks!"

[deciderly]

"Sounds like a good idea t'me!" Applejack said, getting to her feet. She looked happier, more upbeat. Whatever Usagi had said had worked wonders for her, and she swished her tail pleasantly. "Let's go!"

Usagi was just glad to see Applejack happy again, honestly.

Before she really let the pony get too far, she reached out and wrapped her up in a hug. But she was quick to let go and stand up, following her out.
