Withered flowers forget what they wept for day after day

[He's had a busy week, between interviews, promo gigs and just trying to get a little time to himself to actually go out and be a teenager between work. Thankfully, today is a day that he can have some time to himself, so he flips his cellphone out to text a certain black-haired beauty that he'd been thinking about for the last few weeks.

He brings her up in his contact list, and starts texting as one would expect a normal high school girl to text their friends.]

hey u free today? got sum tiem off was wondering if i could take u out 2 have some fun weather is gunna b gr8! u still wanna hit the zoo up?

[She reaches out one hand and catches Yosuke by the wrist, gently this time.]

Hey. Yosuke? Slow down and think for a second. [She isn't going to tease him, she doesn't want to freak him out. She wants him to understand, not wig out like a spaz.]

Have I given you any indication or signal that I'm not enjoying myself? Or that I don't want to spend time with you? I like you! So, calm down use that head of yours and think about my answer for just a second, okay?

[She can wait, of course. And she will, patiently.]

Ah...

[He calms down a little, letting some of the tension release out of his shoulders. His eyes flick down quickly to the hand around his wrist, then back up to her.]

[The wheels start to turn.]

Were you hoping I was going to ask you for a second date? O-Or something like that?

Um...

[She blushes profusely, and nods.]

Yes? If...you want to...

[Time seems to hang, but only for a moment- until a giant, overly-excited smile folds over his features. His eyes widen, and it's all he can do to try to keep himself from yelling in happiness.]

Of course I do! [He answers quickly.] We could go to a movie, or go to...

[Click. Click click. Several clicks accompanied by the flash of lights happen from what seems to be behind some shelving. Cameras tilt out from behind them, taking pictures of the two.]

Huh....wha....?

I'd like tha-

[Her own face blossoms into a blush that quickly turns into a surprised blink.]

What?!

[A man with a camera steps out from behind those shelves, clicking more shots. Rei turns her head away in surprise!]

Oh! Oh no!

Hey, would you get out of our faces?!

[He presses his hand on the lens of the camera, to which the paparazzi yells right back at Yosuke.]

Hands off, buddy! That was expensive! Don't smudge it up! [Yosuke almost sneers back, really annoyed.]

Why don't you mind your own business then! [Heads are turning in the shop now...]

[Rei's face has flushed bright red and she pulls the baseball cap down to cover her face.]

Yes, please, just leave us in peace!

[She shoves back with her hand, pushing the cameraman's hand away.]

Just go!

[They don't go, they keep snapping pictures and being annoying. Yosuke growls, grabs Rei by the hand and starts to tug.]

Let's go! They're not gunna let up. Screw you guys!

[He starts to high tail it out. But the paparazzi follow.]

[Rei yelps as they start to run.]

Seriously! The nerve of some people!

[She's hoping they haven't recognized her because she hates having her photo taken and she hates even more the idea of their future dates being ruined by paparazzi tabloids!

As they rush past a trashcan, she reaches a hand out quick as a viper and yanks it behind her, tripping up one of the pursuers.]

Jerk!

Nice save!

[That guy was catching up to them really quickly too. Unfortunately, they pass the big cats during their run. He's not sure if they'll get to enjoy the zoo anyway now with paparazzi on their tail. He keeps a good pace, not tiring too quickly either. If there's any time in the world that he's glad that he's a dancer and has to keep a good cardio regime, it's now.]

Look! [He nods his head towards the portion of the zoo that sports an aquarium. The building is large, and dark inside- maybe a good place to lose them.]

Let's duck in there!

R-Right!

[The aquarium looked as good as anything, and she trusted that he wouldn't leave her behind. She was in surprisingly good shape herself, all things considered. She didn't do cardio much, but she did take the odd aikido class when she had the time, enjoying the motions of it. So, she's not even flagging when they start towards the aquatic exhibits.]

Maybe we can find a nook or something to just wait them out at. I mean...seriously I can't believe they recognized us.

[He can hear the footfalls of the paparazzi behind them, as he ducks with her into the exhibit. They follow, of course, but there's a lot of people in here too, as they weave in and out of the crowds looking at all the tropical fish in the first few tanks displayed.]

Uh...yeah. Me either. [He says, knowing full well he hadn't really tried to disguise himself much. There's a little alcove near one of the emergency exit signs, that he heads her to.]

Quick, here!

[Nimbly, Rei maneuvers between the people, occasionally slipping free from him and reuniting as they dart away from the footsteps following them. Her hand catches him as he heads into that alcove and she spins with him, pressing against the wall and attempting to make sure nobody can see her from around the corner.]

okay!

[Her low whisper is hidden behind a hand, and hopefully the noise of the crowds will keep them covered.]

[He pokes his head around the corner, just a little, to see if any of the paparazzi had managed to follow them through the aquarium. He sees a few, and ducks his head back just in time as they search for the pair. They shoulder a few patrons aside, frantically looking for them. Yosuke hears a bit of the conversation between a few-]

--get it, we got some good ones of them anyway-- [Before they continue through on the offchance they might catch up to them. He breathes a sigh of relief.]

There they go. I think we lost them, but we might want to stay here for a sec.

[Rei lets out a breath she didn't even know she'd been holding, and slumps against the wall, head bowed and eyes hidden. That had almost been very, very unpleasant. It was unpleasant now...but it could've been a lot worse. Hugging the bag with the plush against her chest, she shook just a little bit.]

Yes...I...yes, let's do just that.

[Anger, frustration, anxiety...they all welled up in the introverted girl and she just tried to stamp out those feelings.]

I hate people like that. They're no better than locusts.

Woah, Rei. [He agrees, but locusts feels a little strong.]

I mean, it's seriously not cool for them to do that to anyone...but it does come with the biz. Not that I like it either. Hey, don't let it get to you that much, okay? We're still gunna have a good time.

[He tries to reassure. It was clear she was pretty upset about it...]

[There's a half second where she wants to snap, to just...chase after those guys and tear their camera apart. But...that passes as quickly as the rage. Still hugging the bag, Rei nods stiffly, raising her eyes a fraction. She hated that, and how invasive that'd been. It did go with the territory, but that didn't make it right.]

Yes. [The reassurances are at least having the desired effect. She leans against him again, as before, and manages to control her frustration for the moment.]

We missed your big cats. But...it sounded like you were going to say something, before that slimeball showed up. What was it?

[He smiles faintly when she leans up against him, but then waves a hand casually.]

First off, don't worry about me. I can come to the zoo anytime I want if I wanna see them. And well...what was I going to say?

[He thinks for a second.]

Oh! Right. The date. Yeah, totally! I'd really like that. Next time though...let's do something a little more private. [He stops, thinking on that.] I mean! Not like that. That's not what it sounds like!

[A little more private, hmm? That sparks something in Rei, gets her thinking a little. Her cheeks warm ever so slightly, spots of color peppering the pale skin. She hadn’t thought overmuch about the inevitable direction these sorts of things took, but this was as good a push as any. Private…time. With a boy she had a good feeling about. The concept wasn’t foreign, and it wasn’t like she didn’t feel a pull towards him, so she didn’t immediately dismiss the notion. It wasn’t an inconceivable one, at any rate. Especially paired with the fact that he’d covered his slip so as not to leave her thinking that was what he’d meant. She believed that. He was impulsive and didn’t always think before he spoke, that was clear, but he meant well. She could trust that much, when it came to him. Sure, he might seem like a dolt, but there was something earnest and eager and honest in his words.

And she didn’t think he’d be capable of formulating a lie good enough to get her into bed regardless. He wasn’t exactly silver-tongued…]

I think. [Tilting her head, trying to let out some of the tension from their encounter so she can give him a steady answer. Rei wanted this, really. A chance to do something normal, and even if it was with a Pride member she was quite taken with him. He was so charming in an awkward way, and so accidentally open with himself that it was endearing.

Taking another breath, she nods.]

I think I’d like that. Perhaps a drive-in movie? That could be private and cozy, especially with winter coming on.

[Time almost seems to hang as he waits for his slip up to bite him in ass this time. He even braces himself to get hit, flinching slightly- but when it doesn't come, he relaxes a little more, and his eyes even widen at the suggestion. He knew she wanted another date, but this was unexpected. That she actually wanted to be alone with him, in a situation that actually was a little more private than going out to eat or going to any other public place.

It made him excited, and it was hard to control it.]

Score!!! That's a great idea!! [He says far too loudly for trying to hide from the paparazzi.] I-I'll bring the snacks and drinks and stuff, and pick you up. What kind of movies do you like? There's another Gordzeera movie coming out in a few weeks or so, you think you'd wanna see that?

[His words don't end there, he keeps going and words keep falling out of his mouth at a rapid pace. So much for controlling it.]

[Score? Well, he wouldn’t be so lucky. But the idea of a movie in a car sounded pretty appealing, and it would give her a chance to gauge how he’d act when they were alone, too. That was something she thought she wanted to know , but she had a suspicion that he wouldn’t do anything weird or crazy. He seemed like a good person, and that was really all Rei wanted in a romantic angle. Someone nice, who was fun to be around, cute, and didn’t treat her like an object. He’d hit those things so far…even if he had asked our her sister too.

His rambling though? That’s a little annoying. Not because of the material, but because it’s just pointless. She opens her mouth to answer him and he just keeps blithering right along. Which prompts her to do something very bold indeed.

Leaning in close, she move her lips up and presses them quickly against his lips during a pause in his rambling. It’s a short kiss, barely any pressure to it, but she’s certain it’ll shut him up.

Pulling away, she finally has the chance to talk:]

I think that sounds fine.

[His jaw begins to move as he's about to speak again, but her face suddenly comes in very close to his own and he feels his brain trip over the words that he's trying to form. There's a second of surprise before he can feel her lips against his, even as short-lived as the moment is it still silences him completely. He blinks once, staring blankly back in disbelief. He barely even hears the words she says afterwards because his mind is spinning, if not spellbound by her kiss. His cheeks flush despite himself, and any thoughts he has are muddled with the question Did I seriously just get kissed?

He hadn't even thought that far ahead with her and this had come as a wonderful surprise.]

Ah.... I....

[It's hard not to stare back and know that he'd just gotten kissed by someone who he considers one of the hottest girls he has ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on. He still can't believe it.]

[No, he can't hold it in anymore.]

I can't believe that just happened! Someone pinch me!

Finally, my luck's changing! There really is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!
