Those who have visited local grease shack Brad's Diner in the past may be surprised to see the radically changed decor for today. The booths were already lined in red cushions, but now there are additions of heart balloons, shining ribbons, and red and white candles on each table.

The festive atmosphere hits you right in the face when your server arrives! Her name tag reads 'Di', the I dotted with a heart. But that's usual. More unusually, she's sporting a pink mini-dress and red apron, and there's a long red ribbon laced through her usual braid. She winks at everyone coming through the dtheoor, presenting them each a small chocolate.

"Welcome to Brad's, home of the chocolate strawberry milkshake! Everything's half-price for singles today, and couples all receive a free cake! But if you'd rather flip it around that's fine by me too! It's Valentines, all about showing you some love! I'm Di and I'll be taking care of you today, cuties."

She then bounces to lead her customers to their seats. Even the regular table seats are well cushioned with fluffy pillows, so there's not a bad seat to be had in the house! She's also piled a lot of big balloon decorations between the tables, hopefully making it easy for musicians to go incognitio just as Rei asked. With luck, they can make this a warm and welcoming place for any and all.

Minako's reaction was worth the surprise and the continuous braving of the diner. She'd gotten flowers for all of her housemates, another (but smaller) bouquet for Haruka, and then Minako's was the biggest. She had contemplated sending Rei a bouquet of white casablancas but knew she would be pushing it to do so.

Honestly, she was trying her best to focus on everything else NOT Mamoru to be able to get through this day without complete and utter tears. Because this was her very first year ever since being with him and not spending it with him. Even when Chibiusa was with them, their daughter was kind enough to spend the night with the senshi to allow her and Mamoru some alone time. She was smiling extra bright and big, wanting to throw herself into everything just to keep busy.

So when she was told by Minako that she had food just for her? Usagi gave an audible squeal of joy and clapped her hands together.

"EEEEEE! REALLY!" how could she ever say no to food?

"Of course! How could we ever forget to treat you? Let's see what surprise we have..."

Minako deliberately walks behind the counter and sets her flowers down with proper reverence, grins and waves at the counter staff, then disappears into the kitchen. She soon returns with a rather decadent chocolate-strawberry parfait, the strawberries arranged into bows and a smiley face of chocolate drawn on the plate.

"We love you, Sere!"

She gasped because how amazing were those! One of her absolutely favorite treats and in chocolate and in a cute little bow! How incredible was that? She was practically starry eyed at the treat in front of her. She was quick to hug onto Minako and she let out a sound that wasn't really human but clearly conveyed joy.

"M-" she paused only for a moment, remembering they were in public. "MY GOODNESS! DI THIS IS AMAZING! I NEED TO GIVE THANKS TO THE WHOLE STAFF TOO!"

Minako squeezed her tightly, grateful that she could do this small thing for her beloved friend. Ah, time to hang on to life's small treasures.

"Want me to bring 'em out for you? I know they love to be thanked in person."

"Ah no no, I'm sure they're working hard, I'll go see them when you're nearing close up." Usagi certainly had nowhere else to be considering she was fiancé-less on the most romantic day of the-

Usagi promptly decided to derail that train of thought before she started to cry.

"Were the bows your idea?" Usagi did adore adorable things.

"Yeah, I just thought they'd be super-cute!" Of course. Minako loved her cute things, and she loved spoiling her Usagi even more. She nodded, and then...

"Eh, actually that reminds me! When you've gotten all straightened up from today, I think the diner will make an order. We want to look nice and fresh for spring!"

"You mean from Thistle? Of course! And you get my employee discount, of course. Why not tell me what you want now? OH! I even have my bouquet book! It talks all about the meaning of flowers and good combinations!"

"All right! So we definitely want all the brightest colors. Bright orange, pinks, whites...not so heavy on the red roses. And if there's anything even weirder we'd like that too! And the scent shouldn't overpower the food...do you have any favorites?"

Serena's been doing such a great job. Their Rose would be so, so proud.

"Hmmmmm well, there's the Good Morning Sunshine bouquet, though that might be more... summery since it has sunflowers. But we could do some really pretty bouquets and baskets with daisies and lilies and baby's breath... OH! And daffodils and goldenrod are nice pretty bright yellows!"

At the question of her favorite, she smiled.

"Well, my favorite will always be the rose, but I'm really starting to like daffodils too. We can do a whole bunch of things with tulips, we're growing extra of those for the spring season, as well as white lilies. You should stop by and I'll get enough bouquets for every table and four for the counter or something... Or would that be too much?"

"No, no, it's wonderful! I can't wait to see the tulips and lilies," Minako gushed. She could just see the beautiful counters now, all prepared for the springtime. "It's going to be perfect, aaah, thank you again!"

Minako bounces with such enthusiasm that the bells on her dress jingle.

"Then you'll have to come by early tomorrow, we're... uh, honestly we're pretty much sold out today. We'll get a shipment from Mrs. Ophelia greenhouse outside of the city tomorrow morning. You can have first pick. I'll give you the royal treatment!" she laughed, since they both knew the truth behind that statement.

"Thank you, by the way."

"I'll be bright and early," Minako promised. She gave Sere's hand a gentle squeeze...ah, royal treatment indeed. She'd have to pay it back sometime.

"You just relax and enjoy this now, okay? And I'll get you anything else your stomach might desire while you're here!" She knew she couldn't fulfill Usagi's heart's desire...but she could absolutely feed her. That was her sacred duty today.

She kissed Minako's cheek and hugged onto her tight. She knew Minako was doing a lot for her on top of everything else they were doing for Rei. She rested her cheek on her shoulder for a moment in thought.

She took a deep breath and let it go smiling as she nodded.

"You should get to relax too, it is your day after all."

Her day. What a funny phrase that was. Oh, Minako delighted in spreading love, it was her mission to see happiness all around her...but there was a softer side there too. Someone she loved so much and couldn't say the right words to.

Best not to think on that for now. Minako flipped to the next page of her notepad and grinned. "In a few hours, sure! I'll see you at home for girls' night."

"A Galentines of short, actually, we'll invite Nora and Ricky to join us, of course." Usagi couldn't mention Kirby since there literally was no other name for the pink cotton-ball.

"Maybe a little cake and everyone can dig in? If there's any spare ones you can take home or something. No matter what, we'll make today sweet for everyone."

"Yup! One small cake on the way! And...maybe another one for our puffy friend," she laughs.

Already her mood's a little brighter, though it might not last too long. "I'll see you soon, ok?"

She nodded and pressed another chaste kiss to Minako's cheek before grabbing her goodies, her milk-shake, and keeping her good mood up to head to her reserved seat.
