It hits Artolo, in the days approaching Valentines as pink and red smother what seems like every available surface, that he likes B way more than he thought he would.

As in, fuck, this is getting romantic, isn't it.

You'd think that would be obvious. They're meeting on Valentine's Day. Holy shit. How blatantly romantic. But he'd made the phonecall on a kind of whim. It was a thing he did, just doing things and expecting the worst to happen. Except the worst hasn't happened, and he has a date, except it might not be a date and he's just looking too much into things. Sure, B has been a little flirty and friendly, but, hey, he's in a boyband. That might just be a thing, super homoerotic friendships. Look at Sora.

Actual date or not, well, he's here now. In front of Flashstep's penthouse. Whistling in a breath between his teeth, he rapid-fire knocks against the door like he's wailing on his toms.

Hopefully B answers. Or Artolo can just be weird at the rest of Flashstep, that's fine too.

God, B, you and your shortness. Artolo keeps his jitteriness under control and huffs out a laugh. "One day, you'll get some actual taste, man. Anyway, you like fish?"

B sticks his tongue out and blows a raspberry, because he's a mature adult. "Whatever! If I do have bad taste now I'm good with that."

He nods, giving a grin. "Sure! You find a place?"

"Yeah, it's like this really high brow sushi place, y'know?" With his free hand, he makes an erratic sort of gesture through the air.

"But you can shove sushi into a box without anything weird happening, so it'll be fine, I figure."

"Sounds good to me. Probably gotta eat it soon-ish, though, huh. Otherwise that could end up getting gross fast."

"What?" A sly shit-eating grin slides its way onto his face as they reach the ground floor and he hops out. "Don't you eat lukewarm day old sushi?"

B snorts, sticking close. "Not unless there's an interview or something coming up that I really need to get out of. For some reason, Mr. Patil doesn't want us getting sick on camera."

"Shame. I hear that's a kink for some people." Instead of a shuttle, outside waiting is a rented car, and Artolo reaches in his pocket to unlock it. "Alright, get in, and I promise not to break too many traffic laws. Wouldn't want us to get arrested, although I think it would just mainly be me who would."

"Just not enough to outweigh the ones who'd be grossed out. Really, it's a tragedy."

He snorts and slides into the passenger seat. "Yeah, not getting arrested sounds like a good plan. Kinda puts a damper on the whole date thing."

At the word 'date', he accidentally jabs his foot against the gas and nearly goes into the car in front of him. Fortunately, his other foot has the brakes, and he avoids any sort of collision. Once he jerks back from the momentum, he's already staring over at B.

"It's really a date?!"

"Whoa--" B grabs onto the sides of his seat in alarm, giving a slightly nervous laugh when the car jerks to a stop. "--Shit, man, what happened to trying not to get arrested?"

Then he catches sight of Artolo's face. B blinks in surprise behind his now-somewhat-skewed sunglasses, then gives a small shrug. "Well - yeah? I mean, I'd figured it was, anyway... though I guess if you hadn't this could, uh, get pretty awkward..."

"No, no, I just-" As if everything his hitting him, he starts to break down into laughter and slumps against the wheel. He must look like a high douchebag right about now, but he can't be too bothered about it.

"Shit, I was freakin' because I thought if I called it an actual date, you'd, you know, no homo me!"

B laughs, that tiny pang of doubt fading as quickly as it had appeared. "Dude, I'm not Yosuke. I'm not exactly opposed to some homo once in a while."

He waggles his eyebrows with a grin, as if this conversation wasn't stupid enough yet.

Hey, it can always get stupider, as evidenced by Artolo waggling his eyebrows right back. It's a miracle he can get the car finally into the streets.

"I dunno, man, this is kind of a full homo position you're taking."

"I mean, you wanna talk about positions, we could. That should probably come after the date, though."

"What, no sword touching on the first date, man?" Turning his eyes back to the road so that he doesn't cause a traffic accident, Artolo sniggers.

"Well, not during it. Though I guess we might be able to get away with it in the movie theater."

He's probably joking. Maybe.

Dirty jokes are the foundations of all good relationships, as far as Artolo is concerned. He's certainly grinning enough for it.

"You can get away with murder in a movie theater, man, that's not saying much! You think anyone has ever tried to do an orgy in one? Because, I mean, sometimes you get whole theaters to yourself if it's a shitty movie that's been there long enough, it's amazing."

"I bet someone has. Possibly someone else from Pride." He wouldn't be at all surprised. "Maybe I should add that to the bucket list, huh?"

For some reason, god knows why, that makes him burst out into a hyena's cackle. Just the phrase bucket list. It's like being six again or something, even though some part of his brain knows what it means. "Wow, alert the media, we got a stone cold pervert on our hands, people! Bucket list, huh?"

Wow okay that was a stronger reaction than he expected. At least it seems to be a good one??

B gives a short laugh, shrugging a little. "Well, hey, if you're gonna have one might as well go all-out, right? Theater orgy seems as appropriate as anything."

"It has to be more than just a theater orgy! C'mon, dream big." Oh look, he thinks he can see the place now. Will he stop talking about orgies once outside the car? Time to find out.

"What else is on the bucket list, let's see what we can't fit in there."

"Let's see... I mean, do we wanna include stuff like skydiving and lion-wrestling and shit, or just sex stuff?"

Well, if Artolo doesn't stop, it's not like B will.

He's definitely not stopping as he parks the car, hopping out and not lowering his volume at all.

"Sex stuff. I won't kinkshame if you don't."
