I'm more of a bodyguard than you are. I sure hope you're not implying anyone would manage to touch me if I didn't want them to.

[Koumei's own smoking habit had been slowing considerably over the last several weeks, due to the combined factors of him picking up more vocals since Nariko was fired and a subtle feeling that partaking in these sorts of vices wasn't quite like him. But appearances needed to be maintained-- and Koumei lit one up for the both of them.]

You better not refuse. I still can't say I offered you an entirely proper birthday present, [he teased, falling into step on Squalo's left side-- as if to help cover the man from any eyes who may be watching that didn't need to know about this.]

Nah, it was great. Hilarious, even. [ He draws in the smoke and actually coughs a bit, but to hell with it, it's actually making his headache more bearable. ] But hey, if there's something else you wanna give me...

[ Yeah. Grinning, definitely. Also he appreciates that sort-of shield. It definitely looks less conspicuous this way. ]

As much as I could use the distraction right now... [he said, idly lifting a hand to his chest as he spoke,] ...You sure you can take it?

[Oh, he didn't mind taking it-- and had a feeling that he would in the future. Squalo liked to play rough, and Koumei usually went along with what his lover wanted. It worked out for everyone.]

Congee, then. [Koumei quipped, teasing the man now.] Congee and bedrest-- doctor's orders.
