007 ✽ Bubbles in the Wine

Who: Luce and practically anyone that's had CR with her
What: On another side of town, it's a different mafioso's birthday.
When: March 14, in the evening
Where:
Warnings: None planned

Since the start of the month, those who know her even faintly will find themselves contacted one way or another to let them know that they were invited to a birthday party on the 14th. There's no pressure, of course, and there's no need to bring gifts.

Luce finds that she'd be perfectly content just seeing all the people she hasn't been able to see for ages now.

Today is finally the day, and the location? The top floors of the exclusive hotel Sol, which is quite an impressive feat. When the invitees step inside, they'll see why. It's taken Luce constant persuading for this for months now, inbetween everything else she's had to do lately, but goodness knows if she isn't willful. On various tables that are kept carefully restocked, one can find various rice and lamb dishes, plus plenty of piping hot bread including some that's stuffed with all manner of delicious things. Fortunately for Luce's continued existence, she didn't make all of it.

...Besides the cookies. Those she made. And the cake? That'll come later, of course.

There's more than just food and conversation, however. Everyone who comes in will be invited to participate in a little game. Somewhere hidden in the party are various small golden eggs. If you bring one to Luce, you get a prize of some sort. Feel free to note that "bring" is the key word and not necessarily "find". Take that as you will.

[Look at how terribly amused she is not.]

Was that supposed to be a compliment?
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (awkward)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-15 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Whoops! Looks like the usual straightforward hitting-on wouldn't cut it her.]

[That's fine, he can handle this -- Jecht furrows his brow slightly as he focuses on nothing, quickly turning it around in his head, then smiles at her again.]

Okay, lemme try that again. [He clears his throat.] In this gig, you see a lot of pretty girls. Fellow musicians, or in the audience, or wherever. And out of all of them, you're one of the prettiest I've seen.

[He pauses a moment, and then his smile becomes a grin.] That any better? I'm not real good at gentle phrasing.

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[She raises an eyebrow as he tries again. Admittedly, it's much better this time around; that said, it doesn't quite wipe away his first attempt.]

Much better. Perhaps you should lead with that next time.
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (hesitating here)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-15 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeaaaah. [Jecht rubs the back of his head with a sheepish grin.] But y'know, some girls think a guy who puts a lot of effort into smooth talking has somethin' to hide, y'know? They like the straightforward approach.

Anyway, sorry if I offended ya the first time. If you got a preferred gesture of apology, I'm willing to offer it! In reasonable time and all, don't got flowers in the back pocket.
sailorgenerous: (This drama goes to 11)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-16 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
And some girls would rather have honesty and thoughtfulness than smooth talking. [Hint. Hint.]

It's quite alright. Just keep that in mind for the next time you speak with a lady.
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (awkward)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-16 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, hey, I was being honest. [Jecht holds his hands up defensively, though he's still smiling.] Classy words for a classy lady next time, I swear on my drum set.

Guess you probably get enough tongue-tied guys blabbing out the first thing in their mind when they see you, huh?
sailorgenerous: (This drama goes to 11)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-16 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I do hope your drum set is dear to you, then.

[She rolls her eyes in memory.] Oh, yes. You would not believe the sorts of things I hear.
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (back to you all)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-16 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, I know what I hear. Your playin' is top-notch. [Surprise? Jecht not only knows exactly who she is, but he's heard her music as well. The guy always keeps up on the top bands. He loves music, wants to keep his finger on the pulse of the labels.] That's the important thing here.
sailorgenerous: (...what)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-16 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Definitely a surprise. He's a poster boy for first impressions not always being accurate. It takes Rarity a moment to recover.]

It's refreshing to find someone who understands that. And thank you.

I don't believe I've had the pleasure, Mr...?
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (fist pump)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-17 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jecht runs a lot deeper than he looks. Some ways it's obvious, some ways it's not.]

Maybe I should be a little heartbroken y'don't recognize me, but I guess we're 'enemies'. [He makes finger quotes, before sticking his hand out with a genial grin.] Name's Jecht. I bang drums for MANTICORE.
sailorgenerous: (Unicorns are magic of course)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-17 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[She rolls her eyes at that, but she's smiling - obviously she believes in the label rivalry as much as he does.]

Please, this isn't Romeo and Juliet. And it's lovely to meet you. [She shakes his hand delicately.] I'm afraid I haven't been able to keep up with much music outside my own as of late; it's been rather busy. [It's been pretty terrible, but she doesn't need to spell that out right now.]
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (big grin)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-17 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[That gets a rumbling chuckle out of Jecht.] No kidding, I'm like three times Romeo's age and you've got a brain.

[Soon as she releases his hand, he taps his knuckles against hers in solidarity. Kind of a masculine sort of gesture, but he's feather-light in the tap.]

I keep up on it. Never know who you're gonna end up running into at a concert. Or playing off of in a charity stunt. Or seeing at a party. Plus you always pick up something from listening to other people play. Even if it's nothin' you'll ever use!
sailorgenerous: (Oh my goodness!)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-18 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
I meant the rivalry, but I'll accept that.

[She gives him a look - really, is that it? - and balls her hand into a fist, holding it out. If you're going to do a fistbump, you may as well do it right-]

[There's a blue pony - a pegasus - laughing in elation and victory, enthusiastically bumping hooves with a pink pony whose fluffy hair she definitely recognizes-]

[She never can keep her balance after a memory, and she stumbles, leans to the side, fails to right herself - it turns out heels were a terrible decision - and starts to fall.]

sublimelymagnificentblitz: (scarin' me AND my bros)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-18 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, isn't she just full of surprises. By which he means the fistbump, not the fainting.]

[Though that's pretty surprising! But fortunately, Jecht has reflexes honed from time in mosh pits, where you pick someone up if they fall or their inevitable death is on your hands. Soon as she starts to teeter, his hands shoot out to catch her waist -- and when her balance completely fails, he shifts his own posture slightly to absorb her weight completely and set her back to rights.]
sailorgenerous: (Oh my goodness!)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-18 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh!

[She was not expecting to be caught, and it is a nice surprise. Rarity leans heavily into Jecht, trying to get her feet back under her and not quite succeeding.]

I'm terribly sorry.
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (uwah?!)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-18 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You okay?

[Seriously, no cracks or comments at the moment. Girl just staggers and falls over, you worry about the girl! And support her weight as much as she needs, which he can doo pretty effortlessly. Those muscles aren't just for show.]
sailorgenerous: (Honestly that was a waste)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-18 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I will be, yes. This just happens sometimes.

[At the worst of times, evidently. She gestures towards a chair not too far away.]

If you'd be so kind...
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (hesitating here)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-19 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[If it's any sop to her dignity, he doesn't pick her up and bridal-carry her there, at least? He walks her over instead, one arm across his body for her to hold and the other very lightly on her shoulder for support.]

You want somethin' to drink or anything?
sailorgenerous: (This drama goes to 11)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-19 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's very grateful for his assistance, and for the fact that he didn't try to carry her. She'd like to retain some dignity from this. She settles into the chair and takes a moment to breathe.]

No, thank you. I simply need a moment to get my feet under me. Thank you for your help - I do appreciate it.
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (awkward)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-20 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jecht flops down in the chair next to hers without much grace, then. Gotta keep an eye on her for a moment, make sure everything's fine.]

Ain't anything. Least I can do for someone who gets stuck walking on her toes for the sake of fashion, right?
sailorgenerous: (Unicorns are magic of course)

[personal profile] sailorgenerous 2016-03-22 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[She can't say she minds. Honestly, it is nice to have someone looking after her.]

Nonetheless, I am grateful. Though if this is going to keep happening, I may switch to flats.
sublimelymagnificentblitz: (awkward)

[personal profile] sublimelymagnificentblitz 2016-03-23 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I ain't no fashion designer or style columnist, but you want the opinion of the guy on the street? Heels are overrated. Probably put yourself through more hell wearing those than guys do wearing ties. [Of course, Jecht hasn't worn a tie in a long time, but even so his hand goes to his neck to rub it with the memory.]
