To discuss, as I must
Who: Defying Atmosphere
What: Let's all be straight up about how weird things have gotten
When: March 18
Where: DA's Penthouse
Warning: disregard for tagging order probably
Greg can't remember ever trying something like this. Certainly not planning it in advance; talking about magic and the confusion inherent in their situation always comes out in hushed private conversations. Information ends up disjointed as a result, incomplete based on who thinks to ask what in their spare candid moments. It makes a confusing situation even more difficult, and sticking to that method will only make it harder on their new drummer.
It's not clear how much longer Greg can trust himself to be an honest person, or a good person. He even felt a little reluctant to call everyone together at this point--Meril ended up making sure he followed through with it. Now, with them all gathered here, there's no turning back.
"Uh. So, uh. Meril and I--we thought it'd be good for us all to talk. About, uh." Greg casts a glance over to his girlfriend, and takes a deep breath. "About magic." He shoots Reimu an anxious smile. "Because, uh, surprise! It's really... real." Did she know that yet? Things can go to hell so quickly with the memories and all, it's impossible to keep track of who knows what. Heck, does Marty know? "And, uh... hoo boy. We thought everyone should... know about, y'know. Who does what." He runs a hand through his hair. This is the worst opener ever. "Magic-wise, I mean."
This would be the part where he starts by giving an example, but, uh. He'd... rather let someone else go first.

"As sudden as this may be... especially for some of you," she said, with a little look to Reimu, "we believe we must be honest about it all. To do otherwise is not just to endanger you, but it is to mistreat you."
no subject
He wants to not believe that. But a part of him kind of believes otherwise. Wasn't it not too long ago he and a bunch of others tried to bust out a ghost from somewhere? If there were ghosts and shit, what was the chance that magic was a thing too?
"Okay. Ah, okay." The memories thing, he's been having some problems with. But magic? "So you both can do this magic stuff? Shit, can I do magic?"
He's being serious!

"...Magic? Are you completely sure about this and not just trying to pull our legs or anything..."
Although she glances to Marty and pauses. Please excuse her, she's in a full moment of 'What is going on and What do.'

"I know, it's pretty hard to believe. I had to see some pretty out there stuff before I got into the idea, but... there's a lot of weird stuff going on, here. The less time you spend playing catch-up, the better."
He thinks over Marty's question. "Yeah, we both can do... stuff. I'm not sure if everyone can, things tend to get pretty different from person to person. Whether or not you can, though, odds are magic stuff is going to happen to you, sooner or later."

She looked back to Greg -- did he want to explain the whole 'I have a son' thing now, or wait on it?

"So you guys both got magic." He pauses for a moment, maybe two. "What are we supposed to do when we get magic stuff too?"
Because that should be hush-hush, right?
no subject
"And for that, I have memorized all kinds of magic."
"But you're still looking at the book." So how was that possible? Although the girl replied before anything else could be said.
"It's magic so powerful that you can't do it without looking at the book. It's super strong!!"
That...was weird. Although there isn't that much disbelief in Reimu's eyes anymore. This was weird and what is going on?
"..Yeah that's a good question. Something like that isn't exactly something that should be spread about."

Reimu's confused moment could be ordinary bewilderment, or something more. Greg's been around enough to see plenty of that dazed look people get for memories... but again, he doesn't want to get too sidetracked. Either way, she and Marty are asking good questions, and he nods to her.
"From what I can tell, there's two kinds of magic: stuff you used to have but forgot, or new stuff you learn here. The managers and higher ups really don't like the first category and are probably going to try and stop you from using it. And they... get real interested in you if you learn the second kind.
"You uh... really wanna keep them from knowing about either. If you start, I dunno, flinging fireballs or reading minds or whatever, make sure you don't let any of the staff catch on."
no subject
"I can't say I've heard about the latter type," she says thoughtfully. "Greg, how do you know about it?" If there's someone she can trust to give her a straight (albeit nervous) answer about this sort of thing, it's Greg.

Rarity gets right to the point he's been dancing around, though. Greg chews on his cheek, glancing away. "Aaaaabout the way you'd expect. It's what I got saddled with. Magic music. I thought... I did all this, in part, since I thought you guys should know." He's still not quite looking at them, though odds are they don't even know the implications of what he's saying.
