Who: Osamu Dazai, and YOU!
What: A man about town being a man about town, i.e. various prompts and excitement where our intrepid rescuer sets himself up to be an intrepid hot mess.
When: 3/28-3/31
Where: An alleyway, a bar, and snooping around some music stores.

Dazai is the sort of guy who can be subtle or not, and switch with such ease that it's almost scary. This is one of those more subtle days. He's been surreptitiously tailing anyone he finds interesting, and succeeding grandly at looking inconspicuous and like he's just there, not following at all. How about that? Although this time, he might (deliberately) get caught near one of the other rescuers, around whom he's much less cautious. Why them? Well, he's a pinch hitter right now until he finds his own target for rescuing. Sure, it's a group effort, but none of the musicians are interesting on the surface. He has to figure them out, whittle them down to what's real and what's imagined. Fun stuff. No, seriously, he thinks it's fun.

Musicians may get a little taste of what seems like a fan who simply seems too shy to ask for an autograph. This is the Dazai laying in wait. And looking kind of cute in his fedora and loose shirt and hole-y jeans. What's up with the bandages on his neck, chest, and arms? He'll never tell!~

Okay, so this one's a little less subtle in intent. The same Dazai, same week, can then be found in the later evenings at a different bar each night. One night, class and charm turned on in the glittering establishment for those post-work cocktails, where he'll compliment you gently with a soft smile and interested eyes.

The next, a little honky-tonk kind of place with dancing and loud music. He only participates in the line dancing once, but it seems to amuse him to no end, and he makes a valiant attempt to shove you out into the fray. His eyes sparkle with mischief and dullness at once.

Another night, and he's at a bustling, small place, loud and smoky and god knows what's going on because it's so chaotic. Here's where he'll shout that your fly is unzipped, whether true or not, and hand you a beer for no reason. Careless and jovial, there's still something about the way he looks at you that says he's watching every move you make.

The last night. The crazy night. Loud again, but in a place infamous enough that one wouldn't suspect a guy like him to even be let in. He's all scruff and carelessness, and they're all the cream of the crop when it comes to throwing money at nothing. Who knows what goes on in the back? For now, he's at the bar, poking around a weird residue on the counter while looking visibly intoxicated. Maybe you're about to get herded to the back for a talk.

If there's anything Dazai loves, it's music! Okay, not necessarily--some of these bands are really shitty in his opinion (sorry folks!). He stands around at the music store, or listening to various people's music--he's pulling headphones off heads and tuning in for a second before excusing himself and taking them back--sampling the wares, as it were, of each famous group. He's settled on his weird favorite, of course, but it's generally considered good form to get to know the brainwashed folks' art form. Maybe he can start unraveling things from there. With all the appearance in this case of a cloud cuckoolander, there's little one can do but stare. Or have your headphones absconded with for a brief moment.

Dazai has this lovely thing called not being a mindless slave to music going on, but he recognizes that guy when he sees him. It's not surprising that any of them would be a little easy...

...to compliment, that is! He's able to extend the bright, innocent smile when the compliment is accepted, even if the reply after it can be taken a dozen different ways. He's looking a little tousled when he takes his hat off and fans himself with it, then replaces it.

"Right! Music is an expensive industry! You're talented, too, so you're probably costing them a pretty penny right now, as well." Talks like a moron, looks like he's seeing right to your soul. "No, I won't bug you for an autograph. That's not my style at all."

Shin laughs darkly as his comment is deflected. He didn't expect it to be taken seriously, but to be taken as an industry whore. He wondered why that didn't bother him as much as it probably should. "Yeah, that's totally it. I don't mind signing one if you want," he says a bit tired. "I'm just going to bleed them dry buying fancy shit." Even though he says that, he's wearing clothes that look like they came from a dumpster. Maybe he's spending it all on hair product? It must take a lot to keep it spiked.

He smiles more warmly, expertly putting up a mask of there being nothing wrong, "So, you often rub elbows with the rich and famous?"

Master of deflection; one grows accustomed to it after a while. Dazai, of course, meant no real insult, just a little jab at the industry and not the individual. He nods in approval at the comment.

"I say do it. If it makes you feel at home, do what you have to do, It's probably a really tough job, working long hours and concerts and whatnot. I respect it well enough."

Then he holds up his elbow and prods it a bit. "I try, but they called it bony. Go figure." Then he extends a hand. "Kunikida." Throwing absent comrades under the bus is fun.

"Shin," he says, shaking the guy's hand. "At least you aren't fawning over me. That has it's perks, but it sometimes feels like work too. Came here to take a break. I don't know why I bother with the sunglasses, it never seems to help anyway." His sunglasses are tinted blue and match his hair, with a little flair on the corners of the Vivvian Westwood orb. Probably to make tracking him easier, not that he's even thought of that yet. He would probably laugh if someone suggested it.

"So, what brings you to this place? I'm trying to avoid rabid fans." This kind of straight-laced bar isn't exactly his usual scene, though he just got kicked out of the dive bar near the studio building. Daiaz may have noticed a tabloid about it.

"Shin!" He lights up a little, squints. looks him over, then smiles somewhat brightly. Might seem slightly exaggerated. "You're in my favorite band of all time." If he wanted to do a little fancy creepy fan thing, he could rattle off the published vital stats, but he doesn't. He just shakes Shin's hand and gives him a once-over, appraising look, taking in every part of his wardrobe, his posture, his expression.

"I'm not rabid. I'm new to the neighborhood and this place seemed nicer than the one by my apartment. Am I wrong? That would be embarrassing." He's seen it. The sordid details made him a little more interested in the band, so to speak. "I'm the lone wolf sort, but you know bars and going solo..."

"I've not been playing with them long, but I'm glad you like it." He drinks in the appraising look, giving a bit of a sultry smile. He'd rather a lady, but he could try baiting this guy for fun. "Eh, it's okay. Too polished for my taste, but they still take my money, so that counts for something." He puts an elbow on the bar and leans towards the other man a bit, "Besides, going solo's the best way to find a bit of extra fun."

"I think you have real talent, there." And also they're a little more interesting than some of the other groups. Dazai settles his own elbow on the bar, rests his chin on it, and doesn't back off at the lean.

"The drinks are good. I hope I can walk home after I'm done. Wouldn't it be a shame if I was too drunk to make it?" It sounds incredibly factual, to the point, and he doesn't seem to be taking that bait in anything more than words.

Pretty darn good words, he'll admit. Probably work pretty well on most.

Well, that was boring. Shin finishes his drink and orders two more. "You should be careful about that around here," he smirks, "There's plenty people looking to take advantage of others." He wasn't even sure what he was prodding at with that, but it had a sexual undertone.

Boring? How dare you? Dazai pats the seat next to him, inviting trouble, before waving a hand at the bartender. Who subsequently looks very confused. So then he speaks up and orders one drink that's really 100% alcohol and massive.

"I've never been taken advantage of, which surprises me entirely. I'm gullible and prone to suggestion."

He is quite fine with the sexual undertone, and he gives a generous smirk at it.

Shin moves over, and smiles, "That is a surprise. I would think that some pretty lady would have snatched you up and made you her pet by now."

"I've been told I'm too handsome. Isn't that funny? People love to make things up." Ah, such suffering. His loneliness shows in the distant look in his eyes as he practically gulps his new drink.

"A pet, though. A dog? What do you think?"

"Yeah, I think you'd make a cute little dog. With a curly tail and floppy ears." He takes a decent drink from his own glass, "You are handsome, at least." He is quietly wondering where the hell this conversation is going, but in equal measure does not give a shit.

"What?" Oh, wow. He looks affronted! "Maybe something more like a mastiff. Very protective, headstrong. Or a mutt. Street-wise and tough, but look at those eyes." I mean, rudeness again. Implying that he's cute. No, wait, now he's handsome? He ducks his head a bit, stirring the drink.

"That's news to me. I'm curious to know what's so attractive to someone as fashionable and successful as you. I'm just some guy." He's 22, by the way. Just weird.

And Shin is sixteen. Barely, though his birthday is coming up in a few months because multiverse times differ. "You're not buff enough to be a mastiff, but I could see a doberman or a street dog. A well-groomed one at least." Shin spins his glass a bit, "Just look at your face. It's the face of a model. You look strong but not disgustingly built, and you've got these great eyes. Like you could almost lure me in." He's laying it on thick, but with the bashful side glances and careful tone, it seems like he is really admiring Dazai. He's just applying what he knows about making ladies feel good about themselves to him. Might as well get his game sharp.

Dazai knows how old he is, yet his motive is the same. He'll pursue it relentlessly. All he has to do is get Shin alone and he can do anything he wants. He fully plans to.

"I'm fine with being a street dog. One of those cute strays you feed on your doorstep." With a smile and another long drink, Dazai feebly shrugs it off. It's like he's falling so easily to that charm and those unsubtle words.

"You're going to embarrass me if you keep that up. I'm a very delicate man. My heart is weak to that kind of talk." He's looking at Shin out of the corner of his eye, almost shyly, but that faint air of interest starts sneaking in... how adorably bashful they both are!

"You have that wild aura going for you. Stylish and dangerous, reckless yet controlled. I'm sure you're popular with the ladies."

He laughs a bit at that. He sips from his drink, "It's not the same. They are all in it because of my fame." He smiles up at Dazai, "it can be a little lonely."

Dazai, too, takes a drink, and looks down into it like it's a bottomless pool of sadness. "I like the music, but fame doesn't impress me. I haven't even asked for your autograph. I'm sure that's refreshing. Look how good I'm being." There's another quick flash of a smile from him, and he turns in his seat to face Shin a little more.

"What do you do for fun? Between you and me, even though it's none of my business. What's the rock star life really like?"

He finds it a little distressing as he realizes he doesn't really know what he does for fun. He spends his time either trying to fill some nameless void with loud bars, weed, and alcohol, or working. He can't even remember what he used to do for fun. He hides his distress with a practically professional smoothness, "Honestly? Playing music is what I do for fun. I'm just damn lucky enough to get paid for it now. So far life's been recording and practising, some autograph signings and events and shows, and a few parties. I prefer the bars. Less industry wigs everywhere."

He doesn't want to know what Dazai does for fun and entertainment. He'd probably find it terribly strange. It has some, er, fun components though! Like right now. How drunk can he get? How fast is he suddenly finishing his drink and ordering another? He's something like five deep now, and there's a set of shots placed before him and Shin in short order. Sadly, he's not rich, so he may have to change his strategy or substance.

"I love music, but admittedly I can't play anything. Or sing. Or dance, either. Two left feet." Parties. Where can he nudge this? "You walked into a pretty good one tonight. Met me and everything." He clears his throat and leans in. "What's your poison, anyway?"

Shin throws back the shot and slams it on the counter top-down. He signals for two more, intending on putting it all on his tab anyway. He wasn't as rich as some, being pretty new, but he could definitely afford drinks for two.

He chuckles at the question, "Depends on which poison you're asking about." To give a hint he rubs his nose with a finger and sniffs in a way he could pass off as an itchy nose. Had he been asked this a few weeks back, he'd easily answer weed and booze. "Oh, and I do like to keep up with the business that launched me into learning guitar, but I doubt you'd want to hear much about that. What about you?"

Jesus. Dazai manages to slam his back with an exaggerated (fake) cough, and smiles, nose wrinkled as if thoroughly amused.

"Me?" He points to himself, giving a knowing look at the answers he was provided. "Well, I tried arsenic once. It didn't have the desired effect." Yeah... "Now? Hrm. Drinking is easy. Reading a good book. Independent research. You sound more exciting than me. Why don't you introduce me to your--" He taps his nose. "--friend sometime?"

"Arsenic, nice. I'm sure I can introduce you real soon." He'd noticed a guy hanging around the corner. He's sure that if he doesn't take his damn glass with him this time and plays it like he's just having a smoke, then he could score with ease. "What do you research?" He signals for two more, not even caring what he's putting inside him at this point.

"I love meeting new people. It's always so satisfying." He says that nice and smoothly, possibly implying something, possibly not. Now, though, he has to scramble a bit to keep up with the drinks. It's entirely probable that he's silently calculating his blood alcohol level and how close it is to making walking a pointless thing to attempt. In fact, he tests this by merely putting a foot on the ground, extending his (long and rather attractive) leg and shifting his weight, giving a nice little sway and an approving sound before sitting back properly again.

"Nothing you'd find interesting. It's very scientific. They call me hopelessly nerdy over it, so I'll keep it to myself." Another shot, and this time he tips the glass back and taps it to get out every last remnant.

Not wanting to get kicked out of another place before he's done drinking he throws back his shot and asks the bar tender, "Is it cool if I come back in a few? Tab's open, put his on mine," he points to Dazai. The bartender nods and gets back to work.

Shin smiles, "I'll be right back, so wait for me like a good puppy?" He winks and heads out to score.

It's not long before he's back to order another round rather than head straight to the bathroom. He's new to this shit, but he's not new to playing things smooth.

"Exactly so."

When Shin departs, Dazai gives a little nod and a rather pointlessly vapid smile, but the second he's out of sight, the man's face relaxes, almost dangerous as he casually inspects the area to see if Shin has left any hints of anything at all. He's a detective after all. Fuzzy and turned a bit physically impaired, he doesn't do much other than look. The bartender returns, and he orders, "two of the worst ones you have"--one for himself, and one for his companion. Cheap swill. Probably moonshine or something equally idiotic.

There's a drink waiting for Shin, then, but with that order Dazai finally stops caring about the count. He'll probably be sick in just a while. A knowing smile at Shin gives the impression that he's interested in his departure and return quite profoundly.
