When I Fall Asleep
Who: Demyx and Luce.
What: Demyx has had a couple of very unusual dreams that feel very wrong for some reason.
When: April 10th.
Where: They meet at a cafe.
Warnings: Likely none. Just a lot of strangeness.
It had been three nights in a row. Three nights of strange, unusual dreams that seemed like normal, every day things one could experience, but was that really him?
Nothing against his band, of course, but ever since the initial shock of Sora's gentle warning, he'd fiercely closed off his heart to them, to protect himself. Sora hadn't meant for that to happen, Demyx was sure, but he'd gotten the impression he was unwanted in the group. That was fine. He didn't need to be close to them anyway. Business associates and that's all. As long as he did what Pride asked of him, he wouldn't lose this opportunity.
It left him feeling quietly bereft, because they were all close. They'd all been together awhile and he was an interloper, someone who didn't belong. No wonder they hadn't been welcoming. He could never measure up to the person he'd replaced, he figured. They were all nice, at a distance, but Demyx wouldn't call them friends and he didn't want to let them get closer than arms length.
No person could keep sane entirely alone forever, and he had met a charming young lady who had offered her ear. That was why he'd called Luce. He needed someone to talk to.
The cafe seemed nice. Innocuous. He sat and ordered himself some coffee and a sweet pastry, not dissimilar from the one in his dreams and he waited for her.

Not that many people knew that bit, but that was good. A lady was supposed to have secrets anyway.
With her facial marking hidden under a bit of makeup (as usual) and her hair hidden away in a cap, Luce stepped into the cafe and looked around. The second she spotted that familiar hairstyle, she grinned and waved her hand. No call, not until she was right there at the table.
"Well hello there! Doing well?"
no subject
"Order whatever you want, it's on me."
He skillfully sidestepped the question on how he was, still uncertain if he was going to wind up bringing anything up at all. His mind was racing on too many thoughts.

Settling down, she rests her chins on top of her intertwined fingers. "There's something to be said about your diet when you're a celebrity, I suppose."
no subject
He laughed. "I eat like crap, I can't see that changing just because I'm a celebrity."
no subject
"So, feeling a little claustrophobic in Pride?"
no subject
"Claustrophobic?" Demyx blinked at her a moment. That was a big word but he knew it. He thought and then snapped his fingers. Right, he knew what it meant.
"Not specifically in Pride exactly." In Flashstep, maybe. It was a strange dynamic to him. "Everyone already knows each other well and I'm nobody."
no subject
But that's neither here nor there.
"So just feeling a little lonely is why you called me up?"
no subject
His fingers twitched a few times. "I haven't wanted to say anything to my band or anything. I mean, there's something about them it's just, I don't know, I don't know them. This is too weird to describe."
no subject
"Well, why don't you tell me what happens in the dreams first? And then we can pick them apart so that they make sense."
no subject
"I was sitting on a beach. It was quiet, peaceful. Sunny, I remember I liked the sun. There was a breeze and it smelled like the sea. I was smiling but everything seemed so empty." If that made sense at all to anyone.
no subject
"Do you mean that you weren't really feeling the emotions that are usually behind a smile?"
no subject
Demyx fidgeted with his cup, not sure what something like that could mean. "I should have been happy or something, but no. I just sat there with my smile as if it was natural and felt all kinds of weird."
no subject
"Well, that sounds a little bit like depression, I believe, although don't quote me on that."
no subject
Demyx thought that made sense, but he scratched his head. "Do you think it's because I'm depressed now then? I don't really feel depressed. Confused, yeah, but not depressed."
no subject
A pause. "You know, you're not the only one who's been having strange dreams."
no subject
"I feel okay now but in the dream...I don't know. Maybe depression is coming?" It seemed weird, he was usually so optimistic.
"I'm not?" He blinked. "Well, I'm sure everyone has weird dreams right?"
no subject
"...Reoccurring dreams, all connected to a very particular and exact story. Is that as common, do you think?"
no subject
Demyx played with a fork idly, fidgeting.

no subject
"I'd like that, it's pretty confusing. I can't remember having weird vivid dreams before."
Demyx blinked. "In the industry? Weird."
no subject
The next comment makes her pause, trying to figure out how to word it. "It is... There are a lot of people, in fact, who don't think they're really dreams at all."
no subject
"Not dreams?" Demyx blinked at her, trying to puzzle that out. "I mean, they happen when I'm asleep so...what else could they be? I've never owned a long leather coat."
Wait, hadn't he mentioned leather before?
