[closed prompts] at the big finale i would tear my face away

Who: Sans and a whole shwack of people.
What: Sans’s skin falls off and so he decides it’s time to leave. If you want in, then hit me up OOC!
When: April 13th, 2055
Where: Various places, Virgo HQ
Warnings: Body horror and feelings.

Sans has been laying low the past few days - after another appointment with Silver, he has to be on his guard. Nothing manifested immediately, which means he is going to be in suspense until something does. A couple times that’s meant entire parts of his body melting off, and he has to be prepared for the idea that it might happen again.

He doesn’t have much flesh left, at this point. There can’t be much left to go.

He’s hoping for more of his magic back instead, but he’s never had much choice before. When he abruptly starts feeling ill early one evening, he instinctually goes straight for the bathroom. Instead of throwing up, he coughs up nothing but dust. And then it gets way, way worse.

The process would be nightmarish for anyone less prepared, and for him it still scores a solid ‘horrifying.’ Like his arms and his legs before, everything that made him humans seems to fall apart into dust all at once, except for this time there is just so much of it. It gets all over the floor and trails into the shower, where he feverishly attempts to wash the rest of it off.

When he’s done, he’s washed himself quite literally down to the bone. He doesn’t have much time to get used to what he catches sight of in the mirror, either. It’s done. He can’t stay here anymore. Not like this.

He has to act now.

Rarity turns her back once the hoodie starts to come off, instead pointedly searching for the scarf in question. She can afford Sans that much, at least, even in this sort of situation. It doesn't take her long to find it, and she magics it in his general direction without looking. "Is this the one?"

Honestly, Sans probably does not want to know what she really thinks. She does have high standards for fashion, after all. After a moment, she nods. "It will work. Just don't let anyone see your eyes." Or lack thereof.

She hesitates for a moment. "What about you? How do you feel?" She seems to have walked in on him almost immediately after he became a full skeleton - he can't have had much time to process this.

Some days, she hates being right. After a moment of consideration, she moves away from the dresser and stands next to him, laying a hand on his shoulder. "Of course not," she says gently. "I'd imagine you'd never been human before, either. It might well be the transition that's odd." She smiles wryly. "I'm not as far as you are, so I can't say for certain, but...it'll get better." Simply put, it has to.

Puns.

The sound that comes out of Rarity's mouth is somewhere between a laugh and a groan. Of course. It's Sans.

Impulsively, she pulls him into a hug. She's not sure who needs it more, her or him, but it's happening and she is okay with it. "You'll be fine," she tells him. "You said this is how you're meant to be, isn't it? It just might take time to get used to it. That's all."

She smiles - not that Sans can see it right now, but it's there anyway. "Of course. I thought you might need a reminder." That's what friends are for, after all.

She lets the hug settle for a bit. Surely they can afford a few more seconds.

Rarity lets him go and nods. They've had their moment, and they can't afford to dawdle any longer. "In my room," she replies. "Be safe - I'll see you soon."

What- what-

Rarity exclaims in loud surprise, staring at the space where Sans had been just a moment ago. Well. Well. That does explain his plan for getting in and out of the building. How long has he been able to do that?

She shakes herself out of her surprise and heads for the door, pausing only to grab an extra change of clothes for Sans, just in case. She has some packing to do and not much time in which to do it.

She'd packed in five minutes flat. It was unheard of for her, but she believed she'd have even less time than that, and so she'd done it.

She'd spent the other twenty-five minutes unpacking and repacking, giving a little more thought as to what she was taking with her and how practical it was (a far cry from her usual stylish priorities, but she was going on the run), wondering how one was supposed to pack for exile (does one pack warm?), and generally refusing to think about why Sans wasn't back yet and what the implications of him being Caught Or Worse would be.

She nearly jumps out of her skin when he appears in her room, but calms herself quickly. "Sans! I was worried about you!" But that isn't what he'd asked, and she moves on. "Yes, for the most part. Just a moment." She pulls out her phone - she'd drafted a message to Pinkie, but hadn't wanted to send it until right before she left. It seems that now is the time. She sends the message, then turns the phone off and tosses it under her bed - if it can be tracked, then it cannot come with her. Finally, she fishes out the Do Not Disturb sign she'd appropriated all those months ago and hangs it on her door. It may not buy her any time, but it's a nice bookend of sorts for her time at Virgo.

She'd miss this, wouldn't she? Not the captivity, no, or the knowledge of what they were doing to her and her friends, but...the room, a bit, yes; the pampering, definitely; and the people most of all. These are her friends here, and she's going to have a terrible time leaving them behind.

For a moment, she's hit with a stab of doubt and a terrible headache-

But the moment passes. She's made her decision, and now she needs to follow through. She locks her door, picks up her bag, and nods at Sans. "Alright. I'm ready."
