Everyone got the same call-- and now we're all stuck in HQ with no hint of release in sight.

The reason? No one knows.

All of those things sound, at worst, better than sitting here and having to act like he's nonplussed. It's not easy - harder still to hold his tongue at the same time.

Alec turns away from Maxxie, ostensibly to slug down the rest of his drink. It's easier to not try and slap that laugh off his face if he doesn't have to look at him.

He hates it when other people are right.

Somewhere between getting to his feet and fishing money out of his pocket to throw on the bar, Alec has managed to get his shirt rucked up, exposing an inch of pale skin above the black leather pants. It's deliberately not fixed so that Maxxie has part of his answer: while scarce, they do go down to his hipbone. If the blond wants to know more than that, he'll have to follow Alec, already making his way to the exit. "I'm not going to your flat."

Maxxie catches the strip of skin, but doesn't fixate on it, smiling smugly instead. He's following when Alec leaves, taking as big a gulp of his drink as he can manage before he puts it down and leaves some money on the bar.

"Fine by me," he says as he catches up near the door. It's a minor relief that Alec doesn't want to go back to the Flashstep penthouse. One of Maxxie's primary hookup rules is that they don't happen anywhere near his bandmates, and he's not about to break that rule with Alec of all people. Nevermind the guys' discomfort; it might result in all out war.

"So, back to yours then?"

Alec ordinarily doesn't mind taking hookups home. Ordinarily, however, he has no idea who they are, and he's the one who met the lad or lady in question. His bandmates will be able to identify his fr- acquiantance this time. The only question is whether or not they will admit it. Alec suspects that even Xanxus will acknowledge being able to name Flashstep members, since it will help him humiliate someone.

Honestly, he won't be able to blame them. He would do the same thing, and possibly worse.

... no, he'll still blame them. "Unless you're fond of elevators or balconies."

The disdain in his voice eliminates them both as an option. Alec is used to comfort and warmth. He won't say no to the floor, if there's a fireplace nearby, but outside? Won't happen. "Do me a favor, try not to step on broken glass on the way in."

It's only Alec's tone that prevents Maxxie from chiming in that he wouldn't mind the balcony at all. The elevator, that's a little too public, but the balcony's high enough that no one from outside would be able to see them and they could find a spot to hide from Alec's bandmates easily enough. Apparently Alec isn't adventurous in that sense. Maxxie has fewer reservations.

But the comment about the broken glass gives him pause. Scenarios pop into his head, but he goes for the obvious question: "Why is there broken glass on the floor?"
