An unexpected return
Who: Tsuna and Open
What: A fired musician inexplicably returns. Your guess is as good as mine.
When: Backdated to around May 7th
Where: Virgo entertainment, and later around town
Warnings: General confusion? Questions with no answers? Basically none.
A-
[It's almost surreal. Tsuna only has a few foggy memories of the last month or so, but something tells him that might be a good thing. The truly strange thing is that apparently he's been re-hired? Except he doesn't actually remember being fired. He does remember the hospital. But a shudder runs through him every time he tries to examine those fleeting memories. So maybe it's something he should just leave alone. Just be grateful that he isn't dead. Especially considering that he'd always believed the people who'd been 'fired' had just been quietly disposed of. If he's alive, then maybe....
He's been slowly making his way toward the Surviving Friday penthouse. He's really not sure what he's going to say to Ankh or Ryouta. He's been told that Nia and Momo are gone, and he can't help but feel responsible somehow. Maybe if he'd been around, he could have.... well... something.]
B-
[Later on, when the walls of Virgo's headquarters have become too stifling to stand, Tsuna is surprised to find that he's still allowed the freedom of walking around the city. Not alone, of course. A 'guard' is sent with him. But at least he can get some fresh air.
He doesn't have a particular goal in mind, and is just wandering around one of the shopping districts. There's a lot on his min right now. Not only is half of his band gone, Flowers over Bones has... well... he doesn't want to believe they're dead. Missing is an easier way to think of it. And the 'world tour' they're about to go on... he has a really bad feeling about it. Is there any way out of it? Probably not. He catches sight of his own troubled expression in a store window and sighs.]
What am I doing...?
A
He looks up when the door to the suite opens.]
Tsunacchi?
[Ryouta's a mess. He's been a mess since Nia and Tsuna had been fired, and then... everything with Xanxus had happened, leaving him with bruises and a black eye, and then Momo got fired, and Ankh wasn't Ankh.]
Tsunacchi!
[Ryouta launched himself over the back of sofa and latched onto the younger boy]
You're back!
no subject
Ryouta? Wh- what happened?
[Maybe it's odd for him to be asking that. But he's talking about the black eye because seriously what the heck?
And then he's being hugged. Which normally would be a little embarrassing. But right now it feels like exactly what he needed. He clings to Ryouta, surprised at how much he missed something as simple as human contact.]
no subject
{Ryouta buries his head in Tsuna's fluffy hair and lets out a sniffle]
Everything's been awful since you left. Nia's gone, Momo's gone. Ankh's been replaced by a pod person
and-and....
[He clutches Tsuna tight]
Xanxus, he, he...
[He can't bring himself to say more, but Tsuna would get it. Xanxus did steal his wallet once after all.]
no subject
[He can't think of anything else to say. He can feel tears gathering in hos own eyes. Tsuna feels incredibly guilty about Nia in particular. If only he'd been there, maybe she wouldn't be gone. Maybe he could have done something.
But... pod person? He'd been told Ankh was still here. Not that it's important now. he'll ask later. for now..]
Xanxus did that?
[Yeah, he believes it. That guy is cruel and violent and Tsuna wouldn't put it past him to even hurt the people he's close to. Still... given the relationship Ryouta had with him....
Well, Tusna can't help but be a little angry on his band mate's behalf. The fact that there's really nothing he can do about it makes the situation all that much more frustrating.]
no subject
It's not your fault. I'm glad you're back.
[He pulls his face out of Tsuna's hair. Hiccupping a little. He wiped his eyes with the back of his arm, hissing slightly when he touches his black eye..]
Yeah... he did this. I... I thought.
[He lets out a sigh]
It's not important. Let's go sit down.
no subject
I'm glad too.
[Glad to be back. Glad to be anywhere that isn't a creepy hospital. He decides to let the matter of Xanxus drop. He's still a little angry about it, but it's probably just easier to let it go for now. He follows Ryouta to the couch.]
Um... they told me about... about Momo and... Nia...
[Tsuna had been close to Nia, so even saying her name is hard.]
But... they said Ankh was still here...?
no subject
I don't know what happened to them. They're gone.
But... Ankh is... I don't know how to describe it.
[He taps at the skin just under his non-black eye.]
A little after my eyes turned yellow I started being able to mimic things. Like, dance moves and patterns. I have the highest score on DDR at every arcade now because of it.
But, more than that, I'm able to take in a lot of information visually. And This Ankh doesn't move like our Ankh.
no subject
[Wow that is really creepy. It also starts a niggling worry in the back of Tsuna's mind that maybe he was replaced too. But... he'd know if he were a pod person? Right?]
Why... why would they do that? D-did something happen to the real Ankh?
[This is like some kind of terrible science fiction movie and he can't quite suppress a nervous shudder.]
no subject
[And Kise starts to cry again]
I've just been keeping my head down, pretending everything's okay, and then suddenly everything is wrong!
no subject
I'm sorry...
[Even though Ryouta already told him it wasn't his fault, Tsuna still feels like he should apologize.]
I'm sorry I left you alone with.... with all of this. I don't... I don't even remember being fired. Or what I did wrong. Or why they let me come back... But I wish... I could have been here.
[Not that he thinks it would have been fun, but then at least Ryouta wouldn't be facing all this on his own.]
no subject
I mean. You work hard, and you're a great drummer.
I think they just like to fire people and see how much it hurts the others. I knew people like that when I was a model.

[Yamamoto hadn't expected to make contact with Tsuna this early. He had gone out to get some air, put on the weird clothes and slung his sword over his shoulder. His driver's license given to him by the robot Gold and Silver dubbed him Subaru Tachibana.
He smiled at Tsuna though and then looked at the store Tsuna had been using as a mirror]
Though, don't know why you'd window shop at... luxery applience store? Is that a real thing? Seems like an oxymoron to me.
[And he turned and gave Tsuna a grin]
no subject
No, I'm just killing some... time...
[He trails off as he gets a good look at the other boy.
Well this figures. Just got back from being 'fired,' and already he's running into another person who triggers one of those memory-visions. He's almost certain those visions are something Mr. Blanche doesn't like and will probably kill him over. A part of him is suspicious that may have been what happened to Luce. And really, life was so much easier before they started. He can't even hide the exasperation in his tone as he reaches up to press one hand to his temple.]
Ugh... not again.
[But, heedless of that plea, the familiar rush of dizziness follows as his mind suddenly fills strange images.
And this time it is especially strange. Because at what point would he ever have been watching this guy sword fighting in a flooding building against.... isn't that the shark guy from Manticore? Over a ring? Also there was an actual shark at the end.
Well... at least this time Tsuna won't have any trouble convincing himself that the visions aren't real.]
no subject
[Yamamoto dropped all pretense of not knowing his Boss and rushed to his side, taking him by the shoulders]
I've got you. C'mon, let's get you something to drink. Do you need me to carry you?
no subject
[That said, he's grateful for the support. The visions are always so sudden and dizzying. As his vision clears, Tsuna very carefully steadies himself. It's not until that moment that it occurs to him to be embarrassed that he essentially collapsed into some random guy's arms.]
Um, just.... got dizzy. S-sorry.
['Got dizzy' sounds better than 'saw a crazy vision of you sword fighting with Manitcore's cellist.'
Interestingly, it doesn't occur to him to be suspicious of the fact that this guy knows his name. Something deeply ingrained in Tsuna just accepts that he's trustworthy.]
no subject
I'm just glad you're okay.
[Reluctantly he lets go and takes a step back. He takes a moment to study his Sky. Tsuna has always been deceptively fragile, belaying that inner steel. He wouldn't go as far to say it was silk hiding steel. Maybe cotton. Dyed a bright orange.
He's supposed to be on the down low, but he's mafia, and he is Tsuna's Guardian. Specifically, his Rain, the rain that will comfort and wash away the wounds of battle. And this is a battle, just a different one from what he's used to.
If he's careful, he can ask questions and hopefully jar some more memories.]
Do you remember me? It's been forever, so if you don't, I can't blame you.
no subject
It takes him a minute to register what Yamamoto just said. It takes him another minute to register that he isn't nearly as surprised as he should be.]
H-huh? I... Do I know... you?
[He trails off at the end because.... he does. He does know him. But... from where?
Another vision, shorter this time. And so... normal. Just walking to school with two friends. The boy in front of him, and the silver haired boy from that other vision. Very quietly he whispers to himself, and his tone is just slightly uncertain.]
We went.... to school together...
no subject
{His grin got even bigger. This was good. Very good.]
Remember the game we used to play?
You, me, and some loud guys?
no subject
[It wasn't a game. Tsuna knows it wasn't. But Yamamoto had thought it was, hadn't he?
And.. loud guys? Yeah.... a lot of them were loud. The silver haired boy, always surrounded by explosions. An enthusiastic boxer yelling about being extreme... A small child dressed as a cow, always making a mess....
He knows there some kind of key. Some lynchpin that will tie it all together. He almost reaches for it, but fear and the vague memories of that hospital clamp down on his heart, and he shakes his head.]
Don't...
[That was more to himself. Don't remember. Blanche gave him a second chance. He won't get a third. If he goes too far down this path, he'll end up gone for good this time. Like Nia, like Luce.]
no subject
Boss, what's my name?
no subject
Of course, Reborn is right. Sometimes he does need tough love. Honestly, now is one of those times. But that doesn't mean he has to like it. His response, when it comes, is very carefully neutral.]
What do you want from me?
[It's strange. Even now, he still can't think that Yamamoto would hurt him. Can't be suspicious of his motives. That's really the reason he hasn't tried to run away yet.]
no subject
Yamamoto can't be as extreme as Reborn. At least not with Tsuna, not with his Sky
quietly he answers]
To watch fireworks with you, Gokudera, and the rest of our Famiglia again.
To become a blessed shower that settles conflict and washes everything away.
[He gives a small smile]
To bring you home.
no subject
[Could it be a coincidence that Yamamoto just happened to hit on one of the memories Tsuna has gotten back? Either way, that's just playing dirty.
He can still remember himself making that same demand of Gokudera during the battle for the storm ring. Ah, that's it. The fight in that flooding building. It was for the rain ring wasn't it? He remembers that now. Still doesn't know why the rings were important, but he does remember fighting for them.
Tsuna's initial surprise fades quickly, and his expression settles somewhere between sad and resigned.]
I really... can't run away. Can I?
[There's still so much he doesn't know. But he's starting to realize that just denying something won't make it go away.]
no subject
So no, he doesn't play clean. That had been a lucky strike for his part, though.]
I was there.
[He offered another small smile]
No, you can't. But do you really want to run away from us, Tsuna?
[He reached out, taking Tsuna's hand, the hand that should have the Vongola Sky Ring on it, into his.]
no subject
Tsuna doesn't bother protesting or pulling his hand back. Actually, the physical contact is comforting on some level. Still, he's surprised at how easily that answer comes.]
No. I don't think I should run anymore. But....
[He certainly doesn't want to run from someone he's sure he can trust. There aren't enough people like that around. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Nothing is ever simple in Tsuna's life. He hesitates for just a moment. But he's come this far, may as well go all the way.]
But I still don't really know what's going on. And... the more I find out, the more I think Mr. Blanche isn't going to like it. I think I'm on pretty thin ice as it is...
no subject
He holds the hand, studying the naked finger.]
You know the kid would only track you down and have a fun project for you to do.
[Because he honestly does think Reborn's 'punishments' and lesson plans are fun.]
I'm still learning about the situation. So, it's probably good to keep your head down.
[He eyes the guard that's about ten feet away. He's sure he can take it, but he doesn't want to cause a scene.]
But I'm here for you. Representing our Family. I'll get you out of there when we can.
[He gives Tsuna's hand a squeeze and smiles fondly at him]
no subject
Y-yeah. I was already fired once so....
[No way he can risk that again. He does make a valiant effort to not turn his head to look at the guard himself. It would only draw more attention.
But he can't stop his gaze from flicking to the intimidating babysitter that had been tailing him all night. But his attention shifts back when he remembers something.]
Oh! Um, there's a tour coming up. So I won't be around here for a while...
[He wants to ask if Yamamoto will be going to any of those shows. But the question seems awkward. Tsuna is dealing simultaneously with the feeling of talking to one of his closest friends and someone he just met. It's... really confusing. If only he could sort out his memories...]
no subject
[He smiled, big and goofy.]
Gokudera's going to be jealous that he missed it, but maybe when we get back home, we can play together. Since he plays piano and I know a little guitar.
[He's dropping little bombs, hoping they'll help Tsuna remember.
He lowers his voice and says very quietly.]
I'll break you out first chance I get. I promise you.
[He raises Tsuna's hand to his lips and kisses the finger where the Sky Ring should be. He's seen the Ninth Generation guardians do this. Seen members of other Famiglias do this to their bosses. He figures he should get used to it.
That and he can't help but tease Tsuna some.]
