☆THE FESTIVAL

Welcome to the South Vista Music Fest! An enormous, weeklong festival with hundreds of bands performing nearly 24/7, the Music Fest is a quarter annual event that celebrates all manners of local talent, both big time and small time. Every band from Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment will have performances to do, including the freshly recruited – you better have your act together, because now is your time to shine!

Player bands will be performing roughly once a day, with bands from the first app round predominantly with evening slots and the newest bands with predominantly afternoon slots. There is definitely a hierarchy to the scheduling - Pride and Virgo claim almost all of the prime performance times, while other labels are forced to deal with the leftovers. You've definitely been chosen by the winners of the music industry in these parts, that's for sure.

Shuttles will be available to take people back to their relative HQs in their downtime, but they're also allowed to hang out and enjoy the festivities if that's what they prefer. Stuff is happening all day and night, so it's really just a question of how much you can party while still being conscious for your own show. Your managers will tell you that the company CEOs pay extra close attention to this event, so that you need to be on your best behaviour.

The festival takes up a massive amount of floor area with multiple stages of various sizes and a large amount of glowy display screens. It's set up on the ground floor of the cityscape, meaning that the suspension roads and walkways above have been programmed to add to the ambient lighting all day and night.

► TRAILER PARK KIDS: For those that just want to chill, there is a massive VIP area reserved for labels to park various trailers for their musicians to hang out in during downtime - one for each band. They aren't quite as big as the tour buses, but they are comfortable and well stocked. Each is equipped with two beds and a bathroom/shower. Pretty much every local band you know of is here, including the notorious Predator. Nose around their trailer at your own risk.

► IN THE SPOTLIGHT: With at least six performances in a span of six days, there is plenty of time for shenanigans to go down both back and center stage. Time to show your mettle, and to hope that some asshole doesn't take all the best food items from the backstage catering tables before you can get to them.

► ATMOSPHERIC NOISE: If you dare brave the storm, there is a massive quantity of merch, vendor, and food booths available for your perusal. Many fans endeavor to spend as much time at Music Fest as possible, and so the space is very lived in, with large groups of people hanging out in well populated lounge areas. Depending on how popular you are, it may be difficult to get around without getting swarmed by your fans.

► DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER: And all the while, the strange memories continue. The label's newest members will have started to feel strange as of November 6th, and by the time of the Fest almost all of them will be discovering their first memories regains. The first one should be based on the alignment you chose, but the rest can be whatever you want. New character may regain up to 4 memories between their arrival and the end of November.

[She … Raises one brow and looks faintly amused at that move. He’s an arrogant kind of guy, isn’t he? But he also doesn’t falter for a second and that’s what really endears her. For a second or two there Nariko just keeps that eye contact, head tilted. But if he’s patient enough he’ll catch the way she unbuttons her top, tailoring the motions to his playing and not that of the overall song.

Now it’s just a question of how far they’ll go before it’s ended.]

[ Oh, he is. He's also pretty much the kind of guy who wolf-whistles on the street and shouts things like 'Nice tits!' for everyone to hear. The good(?) news is, at least he actually does have something to back that arrogance up with; his playing skills seem to be mad. ]

[ Which also means he doesn't need to glance at the fingerboard. And there's a hot (if vaguely familiar) chick looking at him, so there's no reason to look away. Especially once she starts flirting back -- sure, let's call it that, though it's probably something more like harassment on his part. ]

[ His toothy smirk spreads wider. A pleased shark, that's what it looks like. He lets his head fall back for a moment, half-lidded gaze still on her, and a moment later he's mimicking kissing the instrument up to the tuning pegs, the way his hand moves over the strings now looking just like a caress. Then he grins wickedly in her direction and finally looks away, sinking to one knee to finish shredding that solo in a more dramatic pose with extreme vigor, the end of it echoing off Genos's and Orion's rhythms. The crowd's going crazy. ]

[Man, he's really going for it and more than the overtly sexual nature of ... Basically everything he's doing, it's actually his skill that's completely enthralling. It isn't very often that she can't tear her eyes away from a performance and her attention isn't easily snatched up. But her top opens pretty easily! So maybe it's not exactly harassment this time especially since she's reciprocated so easily.

And if she's supposed to be concerned about showing off an especially bright teal bra (if he couldn't spot her easily beforehand, he certainly can now) then it doesn't appear to cross her mind. Her eyes wander to the rest of his band but she keeps dragging back to Squalo while twirling one lock of hair around her fingers so quickly it should catch on fire. The fucker actually got underneath her skin! Goddamnit.

She stays till the end, but don't expect her to fight with the groupies. She's better than that, hot crazy guy grin or not.]

[ Understandable. He wouldn't bother being a cocky asshole if he didn't have something to back it up with. That might actually win her some points in his eyes, being into it for his music and not his sex appeal. Both are acceptable too, though. Obviously. ]

[ Lovely choice in colours, too. For some reason he feels sudden affinity to light shades of blue and green. Guess he'll be keeping an eye out for her after the performance -- ]

[ And it won't take long to spot her, whether it's backstage or outside in the crowd once MANTICORE gives stage to the next band. Naturally, he approaches, shit-eating grin in place and all. ]

Hey! You certainly stand out in a crowd.

I do my best, and generally succeed.

[And if she's at all surprised that his attitude on stage is the same as off then it just doesn't play out in her expression. Pride is made up of crazy, uninhibited types, so for as unique as Squalo is he's nothing compared to four rounds with Mr. Kim.] You guys were incredible, it's good to know we've got such talented newbies. You'll do just fine around here.

[It isn't that she ever really doubted any of the new bands' worth, rather it's that Manticore seems especially talented, and she wholly approves of them.]

An attractive quality.

[ To be honest, he's probably less crazy on stage. Something about the sacred art of music and focusing his all on it. But he's also well aware that people want to see something when they come to a live gig. If the music was everything, they'd be happy with playing the CDs back home. They want a show, and Squalo makes sure to provide. ]

Glad you noticed. [ Ah yeah, did we mention he's an arrogant asshole? The guy who responds to 'great job' with 'I know'. ] And thanks, even if that sounds half like a threat. What's it like 'around here', then?

Well, we're all fucking weirdoes and incredibly proud of it, so if there isn't a fist fight then there's drinking or something breaking. [She shrugs a bit.] You've got to be at least as weird as us, if not incredibly worse, to make it, that's all! But you'll be fine. [Not that he needs her to tell him.]

Which works out pretty well for me, since I clearly needed more irritatingly hot assholes in my building. Or my bed, but I'm not too picky about the location.

[Subtlety isn't always her deal, and they're all better off for that.]

Sounds like fun. [ He doesn't seem too impressed, actually. Have a grin. ] Guess I'll need to tune it down some to fit in.

[ WOW SO SUBTLE. For a moment it almost throws him off his game a bit, since he's usually the one making innuendos and shit. It's not the worst medicine to have a taste of, though. Far from it. He's not fucking blind. She's gorgeous. ]

That an invitation?

If anything you should become far louder and unrestrained.

[And for that moment he's thrown she just smirks, and it's the worst shit-eating look in the world, though she wears it pretty damn well. The temptation to be incredibly sarcastic at that question is almost dizzying but now would be the worst moment to ruin the path they seem to be on. She can be a sarcastic asshole after fucking.]

Pretty much. [They might as well be discussing the weather if they judged by the lightness of her tone.] Now, if you were just being a little show off then I'll understand if you think you can't handle it.

[But also phenomenally disappointed. And apparently she can't help being kind of an entry level dick, just to see if it messes with him any.]

That's the first fucking time someone tells me to be louder. I like you.

[ Considering he sounds like he's yelling even when he's talking? Yeah. There's only LOUD and LOUDER here. ]

[ Wise choice, too, because the bigger an ego is, the more easily it bruises. He flashes more teeth at her, and, unless she protests, slides an arm around her shoulders. ]

I never brag about something I can't back up, doll.

[You know, she might come to regret the suggestion but right now it feels like a good idea. Who doesn't need more volume in their life, especially when you're in Pride? No one, that's who. Besides, she got a tiny compliment out of it, and there's nothing quite like positive reinforcement, inadvertent or not.

She accepts the arm around her just as smoothly as she might blink, though it's taking a lot of control to refrain from smiling.]

Then you should get to proving yourself, or my faith might waver.

[ SHE REALLY MIGHT. Hopefully not too soon. He can manage to keep at inoffensive volumes most of the time, but... ]

[ Nothing wrong with smiling! ]

I'm not the biggest fan of trailers, though. [ Not exactly private, and the brainwashing left him a tiny bit less shameless than normal. Which means if she's as much in a hurry as she seems to be, they're on a trip to find a decent place now. ] Got a preference?

[ Going back to HQ is an option, don't they have clubs and shit? -- but hey, they might actually be able to slip out into the city. It's more fun with danger, right? ]

[What, no, she can't look too eager and therefore inflate his ego even more! When he's done enough she'll compliment him appropriately! Until then, she has to play it smoother than a femme fatale in a cliche jazz club. And a preference? Well.]

I'm not entirely against having an audience, but not on the first date. There's no way that might is empty. [So basically the trailers are an utterly horrible idea.]

Obviously we can't do anything here, it's all fun and games until our managers catch us.

[And then they'll be in real deep shit.] There's the park, for one thing.

[It's not too far off and, well, there's the possibility of heard but frankly that's the least of her concerns. If she's loud enough that people come running then he's doing a stellar job.]

[ Why not? There's no limit to his ego! Although, to be fair, it's pretty giant already. And her play seems to be working, so. ]

[ He laughs. This time it's a low chuckle rather than the sharp hyena-like laughter she might have heard earlier that day. Look, he's trying to be inoffensive to eardrums. ]

Heh, true. Never show something new to an audience without rehearsing it first.

[ He hasn't yet been subjected to the wrath of managers, and frankly he's not sure why they would mind, but hey, he can be a gentleman for five minutes and respect the lady's wish. He grins, looks around and starts steering them in between some trailers and tents where they should hopefully be able to lose most eyes on them and make it to the park. ]

Slipping away into the wild, huh. I can get behind that.

Multiple times and in various positions. [She's trying to cover up how weirdly charming he can be at the lower-volume, too.] Assuming we make it to that stage. [But considering that she might have just hopped right on him if not for knowing how difficult Mr. Kim could be? That probably wasn't an issue.]

A shark and a lion go off into the bushes ... [She says it a little idly while looking around. Most everyone is busy but she does spot one or two lingering glances. But it's no one with a camera so that has to be enough. As long as there are no actual pictures, and nothing that can get back to Garnet who might really give her a verbal lashing ... It's fine.

Besides it only takes one glance at Squalo to reaffirm something:] Totally worth it.

[This would be a great line if she wasn't sort of talking to herself and wearing an excited grin.]

Heeey, one way to find out.

[ He probably knows. Or at least assumes. He's narcissistic like that. No worries, though, he's still attentive enough when someone's giving him a private demonstration. ]

[ He covers his mouth with his free hand to muffle an amused snort. 'Shark and lion'. That sounds terribly familiar for some reason. Like he's been in that kind of a set up before. He shrugs it off, though, and, once he's relatively certain the few people who can see them are preoccupied with something else, he'll carefully lift and pull at a piece of the festival fence that's been conveniently left loose until there's enough space to slip through. ]

[ And then he's grinning at that 'totally worth it' mention and nudging her toward the brand new escape route. Most likely with a pat on the ass, because he's a gentleman like that. ]

Definitely. Come on.
