☆THE FESTIVAL Welcome to the South Vista Music Fest! An enormous, weeklong festival with hundreds of bands performing nearly 24/7, the Music Fest is a quarter annual event that celebrates all manners of local talent, both big time and small time. Every band from Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment will have performances to do, including the freshly recruited – you better have your act together, because now is your time to shine! Player bands will be performing roughly once a day, with bands from the first app round predominantly with evening slots and the newest bands with predominantly afternoon slots. There is definitely a hierarchy to the scheduling - Pride and Virgo claim almost all of the prime performance times, while other labels are forced to deal with the leftovers. You've definitely been chosen by the winners of the music industry in these parts, that's for sure. Shuttles will be available to take people back to their relative HQs in their downtime, but they're also allowed to hang out and enjoy the festivities if that's what they prefer. Stuff is happening all day and night, so it's really just a question of how much you can party while still being conscious for your own show. Your managers will tell you that the company CEOs pay extra close attention to this event, so that you need to be on your best behaviour. The festival takes up a massive amount of floor area with multiple stages of various sizes and a large amount of glowy display screens. It's set up on the ground floor of the cityscape, meaning that the suspension roads and walkways above have been programmed to add to the ambient lighting all day and night. ► TRAILER PARK KIDS: For those that just want to chill, there is a massive VIP area reserved for labels to park various trailers for their musicians to hang out in during downtime - one for each band. They aren't quite as big as the tour buses, but they are comfortable and well stocked. Each is equipped with two beds and a bathroom/shower. Pretty much every local band you know of is here, including the notorious Predator. Nose around their trailer at your own risk. ► IN THE SPOTLIGHT: With at least six performances in a span of six days, there is plenty of time for shenanigans to go down both back and center stage. Time to show your mettle, and to hope that some asshole doesn't take all the best food items from the backstage catering tables before you can get to them. ► ATMOSPHERIC NOISE: If you dare brave the storm, there is a massive quantity of merch, vendor, and food booths available for your perusal. Many fans endeavor to spend as much time at Music Fest as possible, and so the space is very lived in, with large groups of people hanging out in well populated lounge areas. Depending on how popular you are, it may be difficult to get around without getting swarmed by your fans. ► DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER: And all the while, the strange memories continue. The label's newest members will have started to feel strange as of November 6th, and by the time of the Fest almost all of them will be discovering their first memories regains. The first one should be based on the alignment you chose, but the rest can be whatever you want. New character may regain up to 4 memories between their arrival and the end of November.

Damn. That was a pretty good counter. Not that he really wanted to, but this meant he had to throw a couple low blows.

"Blow me off all you want," he shot back with a lopsided grin, "but how's the rest of Vandalism gonna take the news briefs that pop up?" Of course he knew her band -- Jecht had a keener mind than he acted like (which wasn't saying much), and he'd paid attention to who was showing up to this gig."'Musician afraid talent not up to snuff' and all that? You really think it's true that any publicity is good publicity in this gig?"

She casually shifts through her notecards in her bag, attempting to look as disinterested as possible. Using her phone right now would indicate respect which isn't something she wants to show if this encounter gets out.

Whoa. That changed the entire perspective of the conversation. Jecht, no longer amused, slammed a fist down on the table he was standing next to. "Not your problem? What kind of band member are you that you don't even care about the people you play with?!"

This is an oddly intense response that she's not entirely sure how to deal worth. Especially since, she has to admit, he's not exactly wrong.

Shit does she even have a card for this situation? She felt pretty prepared too. Maybe she could just...

This is the worst IC Cards Against Humanity game ever Jecht frowned, not in the least because he hadn't expected that answer. Who considered 'doing the gig right' to include 'not responding to musical challenges'?

"Wait, hold on. Your boss really wants you to just sit around and behave? And you're going to?"

Why wouldn't she? Her interest in screwing this up is basically zero.

"How the hell is THAT gonna get you guys any good publicity?" Jecht flung a hand out to wave it at the crowds, like they were some grand solution to his answer. "No one hears about the band who plays nice and behaves, and it isn't fun anyway!"

She shrugs noncommittally before casually pointing to her helmet.

"Okay, intrigue I get, but that's a terrible way to do it." Uninvited, Jecht grabbed a chair and kicked it around to crash into it, apparently intent on joining her by default. "Not the helmet thing, that can fly, but playing it quiet here at the festival? That's not intrigue, that's just losin' the spotlight."

She isn't sure how to respond to that with her cards. She hadn't really prepared for this kind of discussion. Her goal was avoiding it.

Jecht had a pretty masterful way of barreling in and dominating the place. Sorry, kid.

"Don't give me that. Even if you don't care about fame for its own sake, you aren't getting anything done without it. Your band makes a name for itself, they get more chances to do whatever it is that DOES matter for ya."

He's not wrong, she supposes. But she doesn't like him so far, so that admission goes flying out the window.

"Who's talking about brawling?" Jecht could occasionally forget the very understandable impression of wanting to kick someone's ass that he usually gave. "I'm talking music!"

"I don't get it. Don't you enjoy playing?" Jecht's confusion was downright painful, and his question a bit plaintive.

"So what's the problem?!" Jecht exploded, practically flipping his hair off his scalp as he flung his arms up in the air.

Jeeeez man, calm down. She jolts a little in surprise before immediately feeling like an idiot for showing that much reaction. She's supposed to be calm and collected. That's the point. She quickly searches through her cards, desperately searching for a new response.

"Of course there's no need. There's no 'need' to go out and have fun ever. But the stuff you don't need to do is the stuff that's most important to do. It's what really makes you you."

Honestly, Jecht himself couldn't say just why he had such strong opinions on it. Maybe because all this time, music had been something he didn't 'need' to do. Grow up, get a real job, give up your dreams, they said. Never. You did what you wanted to.

For the love of... She absolutely refuses to pull out a phone for dealing with this guy, but she feels like she's going to pull out her hair if she has to search through these cards while getting more and more irritated.

So she pulls out a pen and start frantically scribbling on the back of a card. Maybe later she'd realize that this wasn't in-line with her controlled image or that she was doing even more work than she needed to, but right now she doesn't care. Satisfied with the result, she tosses the card in his face.

Jecht caught the card so fluidly it surprised even him. Huh.

But never mind that now -- he looked over it with a quick flick of his eyes, then tossed it down with a flick of his fingers. Rumbling out a sigh, he slapped his hands on the table to push himself to his feet. "Can get 'em on stage, can't give 'em a soul," he said mostly to himself, disappointed rather than angry.

She throw her hands up in the air, head shaking angrily. Super not in the mood for a judgement party. She can have her own fun, without music challenges or whatever the hell else this guy wanted.
