What: Genos and Squalo throw a Solstice dinner party. Italian food for everyone!
When: December 21?ish (forward-dated a bit so it doesn't fall right before irl holidays)
Where: MANTICORE penthouse
Warnings: MANTICORE Squalo, Carnies, language, minors getting drunk, substance abuse, someone might decide to bone, idk.


[ Fuck the creepy shit, MANTICORE are aggressively throwing a Solstice party! Because why not, and who has the patience to wait until New Years? ]

[ There are locations/prompts in toplevels, but feel free to start your own as well. Generic timeline of the night would be: cooking, dinner, socializing with games and booze and possibly other things, and  a movie marathon into the wee hours of the morning for the ones interested.  ]

[ He sits more comfortably and draws his bow across the strings experimentally, quickly reaching up to fix the string that's gotten slightly out of tune. ]

Astro del Ciel and Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle sound good. Lead or follow?

Fair enough.

[ He flips his hair over his shoulder and starts. The painfully familiar melody starts off quiet, gentle, but gradually rings a bit louder - just like it's supposed to, but of course he'll also make sure that it's not boring. Which means that he's stuffing extra bits of a different melody between the bars to make it more lively - almost like a decorative ornament spreading on an empty wall. It's a favorite trick of his; playing two parts at once. ]

[Tamara follows him, but not like a amateur would. Her playing darts in between the melodies, her own notes seeking to complement what he's playing. In many ways, it's like human dancing. The best partners bring out the best in each other as well as follow flawlessly.

What comes out of the performance would make paying classical customer weep and smile in awe.]

[ And so it has, probably. Though he was a kid with spiky blond duckbutt hair and a massive attitude back then. (So not all that different). ]

[ It's five, maybe seven minutes, because nobody said he can't make it longer -- just enough time to express his version of the old classic -- but eventually it's done. He lets the last note on his cello fade into silence slowly, gradually, as if it was floating out into eternity, his eyes closed -- and then he's grinning and looking at his teacher. ]

Heh. Guess you can still keep up!

Why was I your teacher, Little Shark? [They didn't give her the title of 'genius' first for nothing.]

[She mostly responds to that with a look. But she gets straight to Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle.

It sounds tiny and very meek for the most minute or so, but then it soars, the melodies at once keeping to the song and almost sounding like another part of it is singing the carol with the cello. It's a lovely cover, with little flourishes of her own here and there that don't detract from the song.

It's Squalo's choice to decide what accompanies it.]

[ He smiles back at her, actually fond. He might talk shit but he's completely concerned that nobody else would be a decent musical match for him like she can be. This is special. ]

[ Since she seems to be covering the "singing" part, he'll go for the arrangement, the low and high notes that don't make much of a melody by themselves but absolutely help uncover the full the beauty of the main motif. He's capable of taking the back seat, and he does a brilliant job of it. ]

[It's just like old times once again. But for some reason... as the song ends, there's another cello in her head. One not belonging to Squalo or herself.]

Biancabella...

[ There's a pause as he blinks and turns his head toward her. ]

Huh?

[scalpedsociety]

[Aramat looks as confused as her son for a good moment.]

...What did I just say?

Ah... White Beauty? Or perhaps it was a name...

I'm not sure... I'm sorry.

[ Alright well that was weird but it's not like she insulted his ancestors or anything. What's to be sorry about? ]

Why?

[ ...and then there's an expression of dawning realization on his face before it's replaced by a wry smirk. ]

[ Hey he's got a lot of white on him and he's beautiful so. :0 ]

[ You're welcome. He grins and shakes his white mane off his face. ]

[ ...yeah he's still teasing her about being old like he did when he was a dumb teenager, even if the difference between them isn't that big. It's just become their thing over the years or something. ]
