Third Eye Blind? Not Anymore
Who: Garnet, OPEN
What: Garnet wakes up with something on her forehead and something with her eyes. She's trying to cover it up while also writing a song and trying to act normal.
When: January 13th onward
Where: The penthouse, then anywhere you want! Just ping me in the thread starter
Warnings: None, can change if needed!
Penthouse
[Garnet has a good idea. She knows what song she wants to compose for her secret song subject. She can see it in her head, forming quietly in her mind. She spent most of the night putting down the notes she could, before sinking into blissful sleep.
She doesn't wake up until later than usual in the morning. Odd. Ah well. Yet, she doesn't feel entirely awake. Like her eyes aren't fully open. Like...something is missing. It is...like one eye isn't open. But they are open, right? Both of them.
The third eye pops open as she brushes her teeth, and she jumps three feet into the air with a screech that can be heard through the penthouse, if not beyond. But that's quickly stifled by her mouth, as she goes to grab something - anything - to cover it up. Can she close the eye? She has to be able to, it was closed before!
It took about ten minutes for Garnet to come out of the bathroom, but she comes out, her eye firmly closed and covered with make up, alongside her entire face. Of course, she was so panicked about the third eye that she doesn't realize that her other two eyes aren't exactly normal anymore, either.]
Elsewhere
[Sunglasses. Hat. She can be spotted throughout town, hovering over a notebook. So far, so good, no one's recognized her, somehow.
That, however, may be about the change, whether she likes it or not. She's pretty distinctive-looking, after all, even with her attempts to looks more normal. Its only a matter of time before someone comes up to her and asks her what her deal is today.]

[When she comes out though, he exhales heavily, relieved to see her in one piece.]
Garnet--! Are you okay?
no subject
Yes.
[In other words, not even close.]
no subject
What happened?
no subject
[If she shows him, won't he be in danger, too? This kind of change, isn't it something that could cause her and everyone around her problems? Isn't it wrong? Or...right? She doesn't know.
But she's clearly worried about explaining.]
no subject
[It's a surprisingly parental tone, and one he never takes with Garnet. Not exactly stern, but still serious because there's no way he's letting this go. If Garnet's worried or in danger or something, he's gonna help. That's just how it is.]
Talk to me.
no subject
...Terry.
[Oh, her eyes are different colors.]
I'm supposed to say that.
[Oh, there's also a third eye struggling to flutter open in the area of her forehead she was covering, after shutting tight tight tight in the bathroom. It gives a bleary, half-lidded, unfocused look at Terry.]
no subject
[That is. Not at all what he expected Garnet to be hiding under her hands. Terry clamps a hand over his mouth to stop himself making too much noise, and the surprise of all of this makes him back up a step. It's a lot to try and take in before he's even had any coffee.]
[He's quick to realise it might seem like he's afraid or disgusted or something when mostly he's confused and surprised, and he steps back toward Garnet once the jolt of shock's passed through him. Reaching out a little hesitantly, uncertainty in his motions. You can't just go touching people's surprise third eyes, it's rude and uncomfortable.]
... Are you- ['Are you okay' is probably a stupid question, huh.] Does it hurt?
no subject
[There is a look of hurt on Garnet's face at the shock. Well, of course its shocking. It was shocking to her. She can only imagine how Terry feels, when she herself can only feel more and more alien, with this change, with these memories and thoughts. It only makes her worried that, as comfortable as these things come to be for her, it will only serve as a divide to her more human-looking bandmates.
She takes a deep breath to keep herself steady. No, she would be strong for Terry. No breaking down at the sight of one of her cubs recoiling.]
No. It doesn't hurt. Its just there.
no subject
[The hand he'd been holding out hesitantly comes to rest on Garnet's arm, and he looks up at her. Resolute. He's here for her, no matter what.]
How can I help?
no subject
I'll...need everyone's help in this, soon. There's only so long I can go with just wearing sunglasses. I need to have a good reason to have these colors, and my third eye...hmm. I need to cover that somehow.
[Ok, she can do this. She can.]
I need to figure out how to make this look like it was intentional to our music.
no subject
[He nods, and offers her a tired smile. They can work it out, they must be able to. But first--] I think I need a coffee before I can be any help to anyone. You want anything?
no subject
[She can do this. They can do this. Slowly, she starts walking towards the kitchen, her third eye lazily trying to focus as she walks.]
no subject
Maybe you could make headbands part of your look?
[He is, unfortunately, also very tired.]
no subject
[She freezes, as she's pouring the grinds into the pot, her eyes widening. Headbands...headbands....
"Its fusion, Steven!"
She is angrily stomping around as Steven looks on. Meanwhile, she's also in the motel room, the air around her growing colder every second. But here, right now, she is wearing a headband, as well.
"Its like Sapphire doesn't even care! And we're supposed to be the bigger gem about this! We're always the bigger gem...!"
"We must move past this, Ruby."
She also sits on her bed, and Steven comes to her. She knows they'll make up, and fuse again, but for now, Ruby is just acting out. She knows how it will end, as she speaks again, Ruby yelling at her after they split apart, some time before.
"...Can't you see I'm completely engulfed in rage..."
...Of course.
She remembers what both of them felt.
Because those two...Ruby and Sapphire...!
Meanwhile, the grinds are spilling out of the pot and into a messy pile on the counter. Sorry, Terry, she's clearly having a moment.]
I am...!
no subject
[He's back off the counter as fast as he got up on it, and he takes Garnet's arm to gently try and shake her out of it.]
no subject
I remember their names.
no subject
no subject
The ones who are me.
no subject
The the who... They danced and they were you, right?
[It's hard to wrap his head around, but he doesn't sound disbelieving. Just confused.]
no subject
That's right. They became me.
no subject
What are their names?
no subject
She clasps her hands together, closing her eyes.]
...Ruby and Sapphire. A common soldier....and a princess.
no subject
[He tilts his head, considering it as he puts the coffee on.]
That's beautiful.

IT'S LIKE STAR WARS almost]no subject

I guess we need to figure out what to do about that first. [HM] I guess we could sell it as something "arty".
[Fngerquotes and all. Page'll probably love it.]
