Although the boys made it through the most recent series of unfortunate events at Pride Records mostly unscathed, they're still dealing with the aftereffects just like everyone else. The return to life as they know it is swift thanks to Mr. Patil, but they still have time to get up to a whole new set of shenanigans...

Maxxie raises his eyebrows, looking concerned - not that B can tell. He still sounds a bit incredulous when he speaks again.

"Is there something up with your face? Why are you hiding?"

[killerbeep]

"No, of course there's--" Hmm actually. "...Yeah. Yeah, there's a bruise and it looks really weird SO I gotta make sure nobody sees it! Can I get to my room now?"

Because he isn't actually sure he can get around Maxxie without running into him.

Maxxie's not moving. He actually raises and eyebrow skeptically, because he thinks it's dumb to hide a bruise from a guy you spent two months living on a bus with. There is no hiding in the flashnest.

"What, you get a bruise from walking around with your hood over your face?"

[killerbeep]

"Nah, it's-- I just dropped something in the bathroom 'n hit my head when i leaned over to pick it up. Y'know, no big deal, just gotta wait for it to go away!"

To be fair, the part about hitting his head is true. He steps nervously from side to side, considering going ahead and trying to get past Maxxie.

Maxxie still doesn't move, standing there in contemplative and confused silence, wondering how much of this story he should believe.

"What's wrong with you?" he finally asks, not accusing him so much being totally confused about this whole situation.

Gradually, B's nervous side-stepping slows down, and his shoulders hunch slightly. He doesn't like trying to lie to Maxxie like this, and he definitely doesn't want to keep it up when it's so clearly not working. But he doesn't even know how to begin explaining this.

"...Okay, first off, just-- don't tell anyone, okay?"

Maxxie's at the point where he thinks all of this is ridiculous and he rolls his eyes in the height of dramatic fashion.

"I'm not gonna tell anyone," he insists, impatient. "Just show me what's going on."

[killerbeep]

B gives a high-pitched, nervous hum for a moment - then, as if to get it over with, yanks his hood back.

There is a bruise, though not a very weird-looking one. What's far more visible, of course, is what's happened to his eyes. He grimaces a little, wincing at the quiet whirring as his eyes refocus in the light of the hallway.

"...So. Yeah."

"What the fuck."

It's more of a statement than a question, and there isn't much else to say, really. Maxxie's eyes go wide and he frowns at B's eyes, trying to figure out what's going on. This doesn't look like some trick, it really looks like those are his eyes. Like, they're part of his face.

"Yeah." He knows he's repeating himself, but... what else can even be said here? "I don't... I don't know how this happened. Or why, or... I don't fucking know."

Maxxie keeps his theories to himself - that it's just another one of the weird things that have gone on here before, that they're doing weird experiments now. He doesn't want to make B worry that he's some kind of science project, but...

"Can you see normally?" he asks cautiously. "Does it hurt?"

[killerbeep]

"Yeah, I can see just fine... or, uh. Better than usual?" He frowns thoughtfully, rubbing at the side of his head. "It doesn't really hurt, but it's kinda... uncomfortable? It's weird."

Maxxie still looks just as troubled and concerned as he goes on.

"You can't see through stuff or anything, can you? Like walls and things? You know, x-ray and all that?"

[killerbeep]

"Well, no - I mean, not through things. Like, things are just a little clearer, I guess... and I can see from a little farther off."

He frowns, rubbing at the back of his neck with one hand as his eyes make another weird whirring sound. "...They also do that."

Maxxie looks even more incredulous and he leans in to peer at B's eyes. Sorry B, your band mate has no tact or sense of personal space.

"What are they made out of?"

[killerbeep]

B winces a little, squinting as if he's half-expecting Maxxie to actually try to touch his eyes or something.

"Uuh... not usual eye stuff, that's for sure." He pokes under one eye, frowning thoughtfully. "They're really hard? It feels like plastic or metal or something... fucking hell, do I have cameras for eyes now or something?"

"Shit, I didn't even think of that," Maxxie says, looking more incredulous all the time. He opens his mouth like he might have something to say on the matter, but then shuts it because damn they might actually be cameras. Streaming straight to Lesadi's office or something.

[killerbeep]

This is just getting more concerning by the second. He shifts a little, shoving his hands in his pockets. "...Now what? I mean, should I tell someone about this, or...?"

"I don't know," Maxxie says, sounding as sympathetic as he can while being totally distracted by B's robot eyes. "Maybe? Shit... this is fucked."
