Out on the Town

[There's a few knocks at the door to Nariko's place, the boy arriving on time just as he said he would. He's dressed in something rather trendy, with a light jacket for the weather. He waits patiently, fidgeting a little bit as he thinks of how he's going to approach this, reassuring himself that it'll be great. He has all these expectations of how it will go, thought of some smooth moves he could pull later on her, the whole nine yards. He's got this. He absolutely has this.

But now it's a matter of execution! Either way, he stands confidently for her to answer the door so they could go to the movie and have some fun out on the town.]

Huh?

[He looks back at her in a small amount of surprise, only because he was starting to get lost in thought at thinking on her words. He doesn't seem to pay the girls any more attention, trying to study Nariko's face in the darkened theater.]

Oh, right. Sorry. [He sits back into his chair, still confused. Did he just take it the wrong way, or did she mean that that way? He gets a little excited at the thought of the latter, but tries to calm himself down. Steady boy, one thing at a time- but he might inquire more after the movie...]

[Yosuke's calm, the girls seem to have found some bit of composure and now they could actually enjoy themselves! Nariko sits back in her seat to relax again, but she notices Yosuke looking at her. There's still no recognition on her end, not comprehension that she might have given him a reason to mull over her words!

She's just here for the explosions and the nice company, man.

And there are definitely a lot of explosions! It's a nice, popcorn kind of movie with an excuse of a romance subplot, but the score is really great! It takes a bit but eventually they're at the end, and the credits are rolling as the lights come back on.]

They weren't even into that kiss, you could tell it from miles away!

[But, still, she can't help loving terrible romances whether they're well acted or not. ... Oh, do they still need to deal with those girls?]

[While he watches the movie, he's bored in most places of it. Some of it give nice twists, but overall it was okay. He looks over to Nariko as she exclaims her displeasure at the kissing portion of the movie, and half rolls his eyes.]

Of course that's the part you'd be focusing on. That part was stupid anyway.

[The girls still sit next to them, and they finally get the courage to speak.]

Sorry to bug you two, but can we totally get a selfie with you guys before you leave?

What does that mean?! [Is he seriously implying that she'd only be focused on it because she's a girl, or something?

He's incredibly lucky that those girls interrupt them, because one second there's a mild storm on the horizon but then: fans. She can't ever show any sort of anger in front of them!]

I don't mind! [But Yosuke might, so she doesn't speak for him.]

[punchesyu]

[He's about to reply with something that would probably merit getting slapped, before the girls ask for the selfie. He grumbles, but he doesn't want to deny his or her fans anything. It fills a hole in him that he doesn't like to admit to.]

Yeah, sure, but on one condition. That you guys don't awkwardly stare during movies anymore, okay?

[That doesn't mean he doesn't find it a pain in the ass. They both nod, swearing they won't do it again.]

[There were far worse things in this world than being slapped, and he's got the worst luck to end up with the girl who could administer all of them without even flinching. She's tempted to say something again because he's so obviously put upon by this but ... Again, not worth causing an issue with fans near.]

Alright, whoever likes me better gets the hug!

[She's not kidding, she's known for being really close to fans if their comfort levels allow it.]

[One of the girls clambers over her friend and Yosuke to get a seat that's opened up next to Nariko, and Yosuke gets over himself as the other girl takes the seat next to him. The girls take their phones out, as does Yosuke- and they all hold them up to take pictures.]

All right, try to get my good side! [His voice suggests that he's less annoyed now, and happy to take a picture with the girls. He grins like an idiot, holding up two fingers as cameras flash.]

There! You guys should mention us if you tweet this out.

[Nariko puts both arms around bodies so she can't get her own phone out! But she smiles in her usual, bright way as the pictures are taken.]

Definitely! [There's absolutely nothing wrong with this idea.] We should get going before they come in to clean, though!

[And while she doesn't ever want to be rude to her fans she's also technically spending the day with her friend, so. They shouldn't linger.]

Oh yeah, most of everyone filed out already, huh...

[He takes a look around. Most people have left, a few are standing in back wondering if those people taking a selfie are really who they they think they are. Either way, Yosuke stands quickly.]

We're gunna head out. Talk to you guys later! Let's go, Nariko.

[He leads Nariko out of the theater, the girls waving goodbye as they fangirl over their new pictures.]

Whew! Man, shoulda been expecting that, huh...

[Even as she follows Yosuke out she keeps waving to the girls for as long as possible, until their attention is completely devoted to something that's already happened.]

They were so cute!! [If she was irritated by something from before then it's gone, now. She loops her arm with his if she can, though.]

It was a little unexpected but I guess that means we're both moving up! [... Or it was something else, but that possibility was still a little far off.]

Well, you did sorta tell them that we don't get much time alone too, so...

[He lets that hang, happy that she's hooked her arm around his. He starts to walk her out of the theater, not trying to hide that they were hanging together like this either. If anyone stares? Sounds good to him. Maybe it'll fend off the scary 40 year-old moms he usually gets...]

Ahh.

[When he says it like that it's so ... Implicative.] I did. [She tilts her head a bit, trying to think of the best way to handle this, if there is such a thing.] It's not exactly a lie though, there was all that work and we wanted to hang out!

[Alone. On this date that's not supposed to be a date at all.] ... Should I not have said it that way?

[When you have a serious problem like this, attack it head on! Or at least take the focus off of yourself!]

[His shoulders slump a little. He should of known better than to think that maybe that implied what he thought. But it's gone in almost an instant- he cheers right back up, and smiles back.]

No, no, it's cool! Those girls probably just took it the wrong way, that's all! [He laughs nervously and throws a hand behind his head, trying to play it off.]

There's not a wrong way to take it! [There is, actually, but that sounds like a cool thing to say, so it's what comes out! And on top of that, she leans up to try and sneak a kiss on his cheek.]

Alright, are we exploring the city next?

[Or they could eat, too! She's not picky, and hardly finds anything wrong with just doing whatever they please.]

Oh...man....

[His face turns a beet, dark, deep red when she kisses his cheek like that. Like it's nothing. He stands bewildered for a second, his mouth drops open, and he just doesn't know how to react. Like he thought he kinda knew where she stood and she just does that? Plus he just got a kiss and that's kind of awesome?

But now he's confused. This girl is a total flirt and she doesn't know where to stop. Not that he minds in a sense, but at the same time, he doesn't know if he even has a chance with her. Does she do this with every guy she's with?]

Uhhhh....

[It's like his brain turned off for a second.]

Sure! That...sounds great...!

[Someone has to come fix him he's broken]

[It-It was just a kiss on the cheek! She hadn't expected him to react this way! It's not like she jumped on him and give the guy a hickey! Maybe she has to be a little more careful with Yosuke, otherwise he'll just explode.

Nariko can't help looking a bit apologetic even as she tugs on his arm.]

Alright, then let's go to the park first!

[She can't really fix him, but hopefully he self repairs with time.]

[The mention of an actual location seems to snap him out of it. They were going now. He's being tugged on, and his feet move along with her. Why does this have to be so hard? Girls, he doesn't get girls sometimes.]

The park! Right!

[He's too confused to protest, because he doesn't think of what they would do there. If he could think straight, he'd realize that he'll probably be bored out of his mind. Give him a few more minutes.]

How'd you end up in Flashstep?

[She knows Sora, of course, but aside from interviews and stuff she doesn't have a reason to know too much about Yosuke! And, speaking of that, she had avoided reading too far into much of anything. It sort of made that whole 'getting to know each other' thing much easier!

It would hopefully make being in the park less boring, too, though she's going to enjoy the scenery until some other idea comes along.]

[The gears start going in his brain at the question. How did he end up in his band? It was just always a thing, and he thinks a little on it. Some memories resurface, but otherwise it's a little hazy and he doesn't quite remember all the details. Not that it mattered much to him.]

You know, I had an agent discover me and he shot me a deal. Said something about trying to bring boy bands back. To be honest, it wasn't my first choice or anything, but it's not like I had much of a choice. You know how Pride execs are. They pull the same stuff on you?

[gunslingerqueen]

Really? You're well suited to it, though. [But then that was the power of an agent, right? To find talent in people who might not even realize they had it. It's difficult for Nariko to imagine Yosuke doing anything else, career or genre wise. But she practically beams when the question is turned on her.]

Not really! My mom was this really famous opera singer way, way back in the day, and my dad was the guitarist for an indie band, and my brother's super into classical. I was pretty much raised around music, and I never wanted to do anything else! If anything they took too long to make me an offer, it wouldn't have been bad to start out a few years earlier when I had more of a 'cute' appeal!

[He brightens up at the compliment, despite it all. There were some things he wanted to do with his guitar playing too, but that's not important right now so he keeps it to himself for the moment.]

Man, you were pretty much set up from the beginning for this...

[He doesn't remember much, he just remembers having to work really hard to get where he was.]

I totally woulda listened to your stuff if you started earlier. But then we might not of been able to meet, right? [He is trying this one more time, as he winks at her.]

[Oh, he definitely gets her with that one, it's a hell of a line to use! She looks as shocked as she feels, and the resulting smile is both incredibly shy and unspeakably happy.]

Look at you, spouting romantic lines! [And it definitely got to her, the nervous twirl of her hair says as much.] But you're right, we probably wouldn't have.

[She raises a finger.] And while it's true that I did have something of a head start here, nothing in the universe could have prepared me for Garnet's skills! She's as epic as she is intimidating sometimes.

[Now she acknowledges it. He's confused all over again now, but he shakes it off for the moment. Someone needs to come along and give him a book on this because he needs to read it. It might be the only book he's actually interested in reading, and he gets the feeling he'd get incredibly confused and irritated trying to wade through it.]

Yeah, Garnet seriously freaks me out sometimes. I feel like she'd be able to punch me right through a wall. And I don't even really know her.

[Not that he doubts that she's amazing or anything, but that lady could probably kill him.]

[People say romantic things all the time, though! It doesn't mean their intent was romantic! She honestly figures he's just talking about them meeting as friends! Honesty and asking straightforward questions are really the best policy, Yosuke.

... But even though she's well aware of how Garnet can be, she has to stop herself from overreacting.] She'd never do something like that, she's all about the music. I don't even think she believes in violence.

[She wags a finger as they continue to make their way along.] Now, me? I'm a little different. But I'm also relatively small.

[Especially compared to Garnet. Nariko's curvy so she's still full figured but ... You can't be intimidating at 5'4. You just can't.]

[He laughs, because he can't help it. She was short, there's no doubt about that. He doesn't tower over her, but the extra five inches doesn't hurt.]

You know what they say, the smaller dogs are way more vicious! [He doesn't even think about it, it's way too funny.]
