☆TRACK IIX: BETTER TO PRETEND PT. 2

What: Hit gameshow series “Fairy Trial” is celebrating one of its anniversaries, and it’s invited you onboard. Check out the OOC post for IC match ups!

“Every prince is a fantasy, The witch is inside of me. Her poison will wash away the memory.” ☆BETTER TO PRETEND The day has finally come for Fairy Trial filming to begin! No matter if they’ve arrived by limo or taken the bus, everyone involved gets star treatment as the makeup and costume departments go wild with the models they’ve been given. At least Sevetop has good accomodations. While it’s a chaotic and crowded scene, everyone still manages to fit in the two buildings Sevetop has dedicated for Fairy Trial’s purposes in this area. It’s one of the only points today that anyone will have a chance to everyone else. After all, once everyone involved in a particular challenge is done with, they’re hurried out the door and to their particular destination. Every challenge has a different area it takes place in, after all. For some pair ups, they’ll find themselves merely being escorted to another set on Sevetop’s huge property. Others will find themselves being escorted to some very classy transportation and taken outside of Vista City to special obstacle courses that simply wouldn’t fit anywhere else. On the bright side, once the actual filming is done no matter the location, the crew involved seems to relax considerably. Whether they’ve done great or not, Heroes and Royals are treated to dinner and a change out of their costumes. Good job, everyone. “We kill the lights and put on a show. It's all a lie, but you'd never know. The star will shine, And then it will fall, And you will forget it all.”

"Do I get to help?" Yeah, that's sure that smug, gratingly hoarse voice behind him, and a moment later, Squalo's grinning face will come into his field of vision. He's dressed up too, though he's using his own mask as a hair decoration instead, it resting sideways on top of his head.

He'll follow Xanxus gaze toward... yeah, that's sure a tiny hooded figure that looks familiar, and he barely stops himself from crowing out something like You're looking at someone? but luckily his brain's still functioning enough not to. Instead he just takes a brief look and turns away, sort of raising his eyebrows at Xanxus a little. Is that who I think it is? is pretty clearly implied, not that he has any idea why he thinks this man should be able to understand him without words.

"You want to see what hides under the mask. You know the story right. If you take it, then I'll kidnap you and force you to stay with me under the opera house. I might even threaten and kill your other lovers because you saw the horror that I'm trying to hide."

Only Xanxus is definitely not hiding it as he totally pulls off that mask to hold, catching the way Squalo's eyes move to the little girl he's been watching over. There is a momentary softening, an expression that might one day only come from being with a very large cat. He gives a single nod.

It is exactly who you think it is Is what that nod means. "But you, you actually pull this shit off. Though I call dibs on getting all that shit out of your hair."

"I could live with that," he says with clear amusement as if having your other lovers killed is something to laugh at.

Well, dang. He knows better than to keep trying to look at her because that might raise suspicions, but he'll do a sort of accidental hand gesture while talking to Xanxus which pretty clearly translates to She's bigger than I remember.

"I can pull anything off," he says with unshakeable certainty and a shit-eating grin. "They could've put me in a fucking dress and I'd still be the hottest person here. Glad they didn't, though. I prefer my balls caged." He just might turn around to show off more of his intricate braid, definitely long enough to ring true to his challenge. "You've got it. Meet me after."

"Could you?" He gives a shrug because they are totally remembering different time frames. Xanxus remembers the kid from before the ice. Surely a toddler would have grown up by then. It's not like she's some strange magic baby, that would just be ridiculous. So of course she's grown up.

"I would have made bets to see who you killed first if they tried to shove you in a dress and heels." He'll reach out to snag some of that hair and give it a fond little tug. "You know I will." He turns his attention back to the girl for a second. Yeah. He's totally an overprotective papa.

"Of course," Squalo says with earnest playfulness. "We'd burn the corpses to illuminate our evenings and braid the fingerbones into our hair."

Because that's totally cute and flirty.

He almost wants to point out that holding betting pools of that kind is the baby's specialty for some reason, but luckily, he keeps from it. What the hell? He does smirk at the tug, and actually snort at that parenty air Xanxus is putting on. He leans in a bit, lips almost brushing the other man's ear, doing his best to keep his voice down. It's not very successful, but at least he tried.

"Don't make it too obvious."

Who knows what could happen if someone realized how much he's looking at her, after all. If what he's discussed with Koumei is true, their managers might not be too happy about someone like that showing on the horizon.

[variaboss]

Oh, that's totally hot. Xanxus thinks that's the sexiest thing he's ever heard. "Well, I do like hair accessories." Though right now, as the Phantom, he's without his cattoys feathers.

He frowns a little and leans into the little whisper. A whisper that's pretty damn loud. He loops an arm around Squalo and pulls him even closer. He goes into Italian just in case. "I can't help it... She's right there. Our little girl is right here and we can't do anything about it."

He wants to. This is the closest he's ever had to family here other than his band. "I want to just take her and hug her and meet the Carnies."

Good, that makes two of them. Xanxus being ~jealous~ enough to kill whoever else might be interested in him strokes his ego like no tomorrow. "Why do you think I said that," he quips, and reaches out to tug on the slightly longer patch of hair that he usually braids the feathers into.

Careful with that pull, Phantom, because Squalo has no shame and just might sit down right there on your lap for a little chat. Likewise, he responds in Italian, quick and (relatively) fast. "You can do something. You can make it easy for her and not do anything stupid until you're off cameras."

He's tempted to lean down at that little pull and take what he wants in front of God and Everyone. He wouldn't mind a lapful either, but their kid is just right there. So, he somewhat behaves and leaves it at just being way too close. Way way too close to be anything but super gay. "I know that, trash. I know. I'm sure if I do anything, those fucks at the top will notice. I might have done too much already. I got to protect her. I don't know what the fuck they're capable of, but I won't be the reason why they take and hurt my little girl.... I'll kill them first if they think of touching her." He seems to mean it to. Even if he doesn't have the weapons or the skills yet, he will damn well take someone out on his way to hell since he knows if he tried, he's not going to survive that.

"But after cameras are off, I'm going to see our little girl." Yep. He's decided that yep, they were totally co-parenting two small shit-children.

Ultra gay tbh. Wonder if the press is taking pictures yet.

"I know you will. But don't do it while it's not necessary. You'll just draw more attention to her if you're being an overprotective piece of shit." A small pause as he glances in Mammon's general direction. Their daughter, huh... He feels like he should talk to her, too, but it's probably not safe. He frowns. "It'd probably be suspicious if we both see her, huh? Give her best wishes and a kiss from me."

Probably. Press is going to be all over this, specially after Xanxus' last interview. Hell, if he sees a camera, he might even gay it up more, just for the fans.

He scowls and forces himself to turn from her completely. Because Squalo has a point. It makes him think that this is something that happens often. Squalo helping him keep his head and stopping him from doing things that are super stupid. Sort of like Luci does now.

"Probably. And I don't think I can bring her to Pride either. It's not safe there. Not for her. So...maybe I can arrange something. A private meeting so you can see her too. She's ours. But for now, I'll make sure she knows both her fathers love her."

And deep down, there's a small part of him that feels like he wants to puke for saying such things.

Yeah, he sure went back on his word and all. Someone's probably seen them together on the birthday night, too, so there's hardly a point to trying to be subtle anymore.

And yes, it happens often. Guess he needs a lucifer at his side at all times.

He nods. "Thanks. For now, that's enough. Be smart, yeah?"

[variaboss]

It's not like the two of them are good a subtle anyway. But yeah, Satan does really need a Lucifer to keep him mostly in line. "I will. But be sure you see her too. I'm sure she'll be happy to see you."

Subtlety is for losers who are embarrassed about their choices or something. He nods. "I want to. I'll see what I can do." He wants to be sure it's safe first. He's not going to endanger their alleged child just to sate his curiosity (and supposed paternal instincts, which, frankly, he's still not feeling).

Well, the trials are probably gonna start soon. He's not in a rush to get off Xanxus' lap, though. Does he want a parting kiss? Because that can be arranged.

[variaboss]

"Do that. Don't make her wait too long. I don't know how long she'll be here before her mom comes and gets her. So take whatever time you can. That's what I'm planning on doing." Within reason of course. He can't let the powers-that-be know he has a weakness that can be easily exploited. It's why he's not supposed to have attachments or something.

Speaking about attachments, yeah, he's getting that parting kiss. Hand in Squalo's hair and all sorts of possessive hard snogging since he doesn't care that there are cameras everywhere and also people he knows that might see and catch them. Whatever. He does want he wants.

And after, he'll slide the Phantom mask on and sort of shove Squalo off his lap. "Give them hell."

"Mm." He has half a mind to suggest that some kind of an accident might befell the mommy, but he supposes Xanxus might not want someone who carried his child be dead, so he leaves it to himself.

Now that's an excellent show for the cameras, and Squalo's smirking as he pulls away. "Got it," he says. He slips off Xanxus surprisingly gracefully, gives him a mock curtsy, and heads off to wherever he's supposed to be picked up to get to the tower.
