How much help? Tooru isn't sure, but he cared deeply for her, for everyone in his band.
"If you don't want to right now, that's fine. We'll come back for you when it's safer."

"I'm sorry. I just... I enjoy this life, aside from Lesedi and the constant attention of the public."

"She and Blanche are just using us as batteries. We deserve better than that."
He looked around and then asked. "What do you mean murderer?"
Though he knows what she means. He just doesn't want to believe it.

It's sudden but what comes out Aramat's mouth is morbid.
"For the things I've done in my world. Maybe I need to be a battery. At least I'm useful to someone in a non-destructive way."

He leaned back in his seat and looked at her.
"What I think is that this is the real you. The you before needed help and for whatever reasons couldn't get it."

Looking to Tooru, he adds, "He's right: as horrible as this situation is, it has given us a chance to change and change for the better, to begin a new life and be the person we need to be and more than what we were."

"You did what, Sariel?"
A song is forming in her head, and it's not a good one.

He stares at him, in disbelief, and then noticed then the tone in Aramat's voice. Fuck, he needed to do something before she killed him. He looked at Sariel again, and wanted to throw up. For a moment he wondered if he should let her. But only for a moment. It's not their place to judge each other. Not if they wanted to survive.
"Aramat, please don't," he said softly but with steel. "This isn't the time or place."
no subject
"I'm not that man now and I don't want to go back to being who I was, but I don't blame you for any judgement you might have," he says, softly.
no subject
"You wanted me, Sariel, but you're not even fit to be swine. Hmmm... Swine..."
Stop her Tooru.

He spared Sariel a glance, felt his stomach roil in disgust and didn't bother to hide his disgust before turning his attention to Aramat. "You're right; I don't. But I think doing whatever you're planning to do in public is poor planning. We don't want too much attention on us."
He reached out and put a hand on her's.
The truth is he feels out of his depth in this. He's eighteen, barely an adult in the eyes of his world. And here he is between two murderous adults trying to play mediator.
He tries not to show any of that. If he can handle Mad Dog-chan, he can handle this. Right?

You don't own me, no
I'm not one of your little toys
You don't own me, no
You can't keep me from those other boys...
Tooru may be paralyzed and Sariel's fingers may try to grab a steak knife.

"Aramat, please," he said fighting to reach out to her. "Please don't do this. Not here. Not where I can't protect you."
His eyes darted between her and Sariel, panic rising in his chest. He knew what she was going to try to do. He had always had strong instincts. "Please, I don't want to see this."
If Aramat killed Sariel? Tooru didn't care. He could sympathize with Sariel wanting to move on from what he had been; he really could, but... he could sympathize with Aramat even more. When Sariel admitted to what he had done. It was hard to look at him. He thought of his nephew. Little Takeru, who he wanted to protect.
He was sure that if Aramat and Sariel got the help they obviously needed they would be okay. But... would they really? Now that he had an idea what they were.

"What's... happening??" he almost whimpers.

"I got a little ahead of myself. But now you know, I'm not fit to be rescued. Look at what I almost did. I am a awful person." Although if Aramat continues like this, she'll have to be stopped.
"Don't try and save me. You can't cure what I have, Tooru."
no subject
"I... I need to go."
He has no idea what to do. They're both killers. And... he doesn't let himself think. He throws some money on the table. "I need to think."
And he all but runs.
no subject
"I can't stay here..." he mutters. And picking himself up, he'll hurry to his room, almost running himself. Shuffling sounds might be heard, like he's packing in haste...
