I've seen the future
Who: Garnet and YOU!
What: Garnet gets Future Vision!
When: December 1st onward!
Where: Anywhere
Warnings: None at the moment! If you want Garnet to see something in your character's future that's true and for her to inform them about it, please let me know!
[Headaches. That's how they started. Then, suddenly, she'd see them. The flashes.
The visions. At first she doesn't understand. They're everyone around her doing things, but they aren't memories. Not her memories. Then she finds out some things she sees...happen.
The future?
The future.
But she sees so many different...things that could happen, that don't. How can she even...how can she figure out what's to pass and what won't? How can she make sure this doesn't get out and arouse suspicion? What did those things do to her?...And why does she feel ok with it...?
So, there might be a Garnet-shaped figure running towards you, before you do something. It could be cooking, or walking into a room, or...anything really. But she's going to stop you.
She's seen what's going to happen. All of them.]

WAIT!

the woman running towards him, however, may see things differently; a howling grief and self-loathing, overwhelming and consuming to the point of completely overtaking him. there's a mess of possibilities there, the source unknown, but very, very few of them involve him coping in a reasonable manner. coping from what, though...?
as he looks up, he seems oblivious - and startled.]
W-what!?
no subject
She stares back, not sure how to say what she needs to say. She'd probably sound insane, if she spoke about her visions out loud.
Especially about this kid. Practically hair-ripping grief, and...because...because..........]
I.
What are you doing this weekend?
no subject
is he being asked out?
after a few moments of confusion, Shen manages to recover, wondering if he's been recognized but- she looks familiar, too, where has he seen her before?
either way, he looks down, starting to step inside. maybe if he gives her the cold shoulder, she'll get the hint]
...working.
no subject
I didn't--
You're not going to handle it well. This weekend.
Its not going to end well.
no subject
...What are you talking about?
no subject
[She closes her eyes and looks down.]
But you might end up doing something you'll regret, deeply. Just please be careful this weekend, ok?
no subject
be
]
...are you on drugs?
[is this what being high is like? warning strangers?]
no subject
[Really, she seems completely lucid. In fact she wishes she was high.]
...also, if anyone offers you an Annexation of Puerto Rico, don't take it.
no subject
[and unless she makes any effort to stop him- as far as he knows, she's just a frazzled woman. he's not doing anything this weekend, except finalizing his choice of outfit for the party on Monday. and that even assumes she's- well, no. seeing the future is stupid. how would she know if he made a bad choice?
even so, he might go without a jacket. it'll be warm there, right?he may or may not be planning on telling the store manager to call the police because there's a crazy woman out there.
said manager is probably more than label-savvy enough to recognize who it is out there, assuming she sticks around]no subject
She begins to walk off, with the manager and a few others spotting her as she does walk off.]
"Say! Isn't that..."
"Oh my god, it is!"
"Hey, quick, I've got that new EP from them, try and get her...!"
"Oh no, she's getting on a bus!"
no subject
Shen can only watch as seems that half the store flees out the door to follow Garnet; part of him feels a little bad as they try to chase her down before she can get on the bus, the rest? well. some are joining him at the window to watch, others are ignoring, and someone may or may not be attempting a little shoplifting while everyone's busy.
c'mon, though, Garnet. you've got a pair of preteens shoving their way to the front, leaving their mom frantically trying to catch up. are you going to just leave them hanging?
tHEY LOVE YOU, GARNET.
and depending on what she's still seeing - or not - she may realize they're too blinded by their favorite keytarist to realize their attempt to cut around the crowd by running in to the street has a high chance of ending very, very badly]no subject
You-!
[And not a moment too soon, as an unfortunate young girl - one who isn't even part of the growing crowd - is shoved right into the middle of the street. Garnet, however, is on the girl in no time flat, pulling her back from the curb before a car runs her over.
She...she called it right, at least.]
You ok--
[And then the fans overtake her. She's a hero! She saved that girl! It totally isn't because we shoved her out in the road! How did she figure out that would happen! Maybe keytar players can just do that!]
no subject
oh.
Bai Shen's not the only one in the store who's gasping, and on the street- there's a scream or two before the crowd outside bursts in to a cacophony of sound. it's noisy enough with the chatter in here, outside- well, he doesn't envy Garnet, even if she is a 'hero'.
quite frankly, seeing as how everyone in the- that's a mob, he thinks- is either trying to get closer to Garnet, the scene in general, or- well, he doesn't know what they want. he can't see very well, and has no desire to get closer.
on one hand he feels bad for a fellow musician, but on the other, he's so very thankful it's her out there and not him.
as for the girl? she's probably one of the handful out there who're too overwhelmed to even think of Garnet as a musician. she's shivering, clinging to her rescuer, silent tears running down her face. by the looks of things, how close she was to getting hit is just now hitting her- that, or she's feeling suffocated by the crowd. maybe both, as it's certainly not helping.]
no subject
[The poor girl isn't the only one. Between being in the crowd, and the increasingly hysterical girl, and the various flashes of the What Could Be of a few dozen people who are just not giving space to her or this CHILD THAT THEY ALMOST--
She has just had it.]
GET OUT OF MY WAY NOW!
[Well. That got the crowd's attention. They had heard of her taking an angry mother tone towards her band. Her fans? Never. It stuns the crowd enough to allow her to go back into the music store, girl in tow, and behind the counter, where she finally let's the girl go.
She should call the parents.
Five dozen phone numbers pop up in her mind.
Never mind, first things first. She does her best to give a reassuring smile.]
Are you ok, love?... Don't cry, you're safe now.
no subject
S-someone needs to call the police!
[his voice is shaky, and it's not nearly as commanding as Garnet's - but it can be loud when he wants it to be, like then. and as the ones inside are dealing with the ones outside trying to trickle back in- he looks around, shoves over the nearest cardboard standup of CDs, and hauls it over to the counter. where he props it up, giving Garnet and the girl a little more cover from sight. after which he peeks around to see if she is in fact okay...
...she doesn't seem to be hurt, anyway. sniffly and still shaky, but she manages a little nod towards Garnet. she hasn't loosened her grip, though; if anything, she's holding even tighter. another minute or so and she might calm down enough to speak.
another minute or so and Shen might have to resort to more to keep people away, but right now, he's just hoping the manager or somebody with more authority than him takes charge here and deals with the people starting to crowd him. his curt 'back off!'s and 'give them space!' is only doing so much.]
no subject
Finally, the girl sniffs and speaks.]
I'm sorry...
No, its all right. This isn't your fault, ok?
[At this, Garnet turns towards Shen.]
Thank you.
no subject
finally he just ends up climbing on the counter, sitting on it with the cardboard on his lap like a lengthways tower shield. uff. he'll be thankful when the police get here, maybe they can get some order.
but when he catches sight of Garnet looking at him, and thanking him? he shakes his head quickly.]
You saved her.
[he sounds- almost doubtful? not of the fact that she saved the girl, that's kind of. well. obvious.
but he could have sworn she somehow saw it coming.]
no subject
[However, there's something else on her face, even as there is relief. Fear. Not just fear for what this means, but.
So many things she saw. So many flashes where she failed. But she didn't.]
I saw.
no subject
this is too creepy for him. he huffs out a little breath, looking back to the crowd to keep an eye on them. he recognizes fear - he's seen it plenty of times in the mirror - but how does he handle it from this end?]
That's so weird.
[probably not like that.]
no subject
[Trust her, Shen, if she could, she'd explain. But she can't. She knows she can't. The fear of what might happen if she says anything is strong. She doesn't want to lose what she has.
Even if she's not entirely sure what it is, as she continues to hold the girl.]
Hey, you think these guys have a break room?
no subject
[he runs his hand along the sigh, exhaling heavily.]
...you're, um. Probably gonna need a distraction.
[and with a sinking feeling, he's realizing that he's probably going to have to provide it. but what even would he do?]
no subject
I understand. Hey, look, I don't know who you are, exactly, and I know I sounded like I made no sense before. But, I already owe you one for this, that much I'm sure about.
no subject
Shen. I'm Bai Shen.
[he doesn't know if she'll recognize the name - part of him hopes she won't - but Nyla is going to...okay, no, she won't kill him. she'll scold him, probably, because he never misbehaves, he never causes a scene, but right now, he needs to ask a question the likes of which he never thought he'd ask himself;
What Would Bill Do?
Bill would or would not stand up on the counter, fully, but that's sure what Shen is doing, pulling off his beanie to reveal his bleached hair. immediately he gets a couple glances, and a few of the folks in the crowd point in recognition; with how he's removing his scarf and coat, that gives even less to hide his identity.
Bill might continue removing clothing. Shen is not nearly desperate enough to go that far.]S-so, thank you all for coming here today, and while Miss Garnet has already left [so they should clearly stop looking for her she's gone she's not here she's away focus on him please oh god please stop] she wanted t-to thank you all for your support, and, um, if there's any fans of VIP out there I'd be happy to meet them...!
[Shen is not the talker of the band. not by any means.
but he is trying so very hard right now so that should count for something, right?]
no subject
"Oh my god, I'm such a fan!"
"Did you see what happened?"
"HEY! I bet you were hoping she got run over......ME TOO WOW I LOVE YOUR BAND!!!!!"
Very, very quietly, then, Garnet begins to make her way with the girl towards the back, hoping no one notices her and everyone focuses on Shen.
She'll have to remember that name.]
no subject
his doom is to do his very very best to try and pacify everyone as he's all but mobbed, and to hope desperately that Garnet's making use of his distraction. impromptu question and answer session go?]
Um- a little, she was really brave going out like that, I don't think I could have done it- yeah, we're hard at work on the new album, I'm not sure when it's gonna be released- I don't know if he's s-single?
[SO MANY QUESTIONS. WHAT HE WOULDN'T GIVE FOR ANYONE ELSE TO BE HERE. even Sans. Sans, why are you never around when you're actually wanted and/or needed????
the girl, at least, is able to walk at this point- not without help, she's still clinging to Garnet, but she's able to move her own legs and support at least some of her own weight. she's careful to keep the other in between her and the crowd, giving a quiet, nervous little laugh when they're away from the worst of it]
