☆TRACK IIX: BETTER TO PRETEND PT. 2

What: Hit gameshow series “Fairy Trial” is celebrating one of its anniversaries, and it’s invited you onboard. Check out the OOC post for IC match ups!

Where: Sevetop Entertainment’s studio.

“Every prince is a fantasy, The witch is inside of me. Her poison will wash away the memory.” ☆BETTER TO PRETEND The day has finally come for Fairy Trial filming to begin! No matter if they’ve arrived by limo or taken the bus, everyone involved gets star treatment as the makeup and costume departments go wild with the models they’ve been given. At least Sevetop has good accomodations. While it’s a chaotic and crowded scene, everyone still manages to fit in the two buildings Sevetop has dedicated for Fairy Trial’s purposes in this area. It’s one of the only points today that anyone will have a chance to everyone else. After all, once everyone involved in a particular challenge is done with, they’re hurried out the door and to their particular destination. Every challenge has a different area it takes place in, after all. For some pair ups, they’ll find themselves merely being escorted to another set on Sevetop’s huge property. Others will find themselves being escorted to some very classy transportation and taken outside of Vista City to special obstacle courses that simply wouldn’t fit anywhere else. On the bright side, once the actual filming is done no matter the location, the crew involved seems to relax considerably. Whether they’ve done great or not, Heroes and Royals are treated to dinner and a change out of their costumes. Good job, everyone. “We kill the lights and put on a show. It's all a lie, but you'd never know. The star will shine, And then it will fall, And you will forget it all.”

[And then she's off, just like that. A jump down to her landing pad, and run forward to... a surfboard. Okay, sure, water's always kind of freaked her out but this isn't exactly going to be hard. And even if she falls, as long as she stays on the board she's fine, right? What's wrong with getting a little wet?

A quick hop onto that board and it starts... surprisingly quickly, huh? Yikes! She makes the first couple turns, anyway! Might as well use this as a chance to yell something heroic, right?]

Never fear, I'm - ah - coming, milady!

[She can barely hear that, but she does and she scowls deeper, standing up.] Call me that again, Kisaragi, and I'll help the goblin beat you up!

[... love u momo.]

Love is cruel. [It's half honest answer and half in-character response. But she cannot fail Kido now! Even if she's scary.

So focus! Focus... she's almost there, she can see the music box now, she just has a little more to go on this dumb surfboard.]

Yes, sir?

[Poor Momo. She chuckles, more warmly. Not that Momo can hear her.] I'll take it. Pay attention!

Attention. Right!

[Attention, Kisaragi! Wait.

Unfortunately, she focuses a little too hard, and loses her balance! Surely that's fine, right? I mean she doesn't technically fall off entirely, her head just ends up underwater for a bit. And what could be wrong with that?

Never mind that she's clearly really struggling to look enthusiastic once she regains her balance and coughs a little. She'z fine, see? totally fine! Ha ha ha.]

[Her almost going under is enough to shut Kido up. She's already looking for an exec--she doesn't look okay, should they keep going? But everyone actually working on the show waves her back into her spot, the worry getting ignored. See? She's fine?

But Kido's waiting much more impatiently now.]

[That was... a really big, really scary memory. She's gotten some sort of unpleasant ones, sure, but... nothing like this. Nothing like drowning.

If she drowned, how was she still here? How was she still alive and singing and... singing? Where was here?

The studio, right. Game show. Save Danch- Kido. Save Kido. From the goblin guy. Her steps are shaky as she gets off the surfboard, but Momo Kisaragi didn't come here to give up. She manages a shaky half-smile as she makes her way up towards the arena where the goblin waits, slowly but surely as she tries to recover.]

Almost... there...

[She is absolutely sure Momo is not okay. She balls her fists in the excessive fabric of the skirt and frowns. What happened? Did she actually get hurt? Is she not feeling well?

She's glancing around pretty much ready to fight the goblin on her own (and hopefully not hurt the guy just get the chance to get Momo out), waiting for Momo to get to her.]

[The remainder of the obstacle course between her and the goblin isn't exactly hard, in fact not thinking about it too much gives her less room to mess up and she honestly does way better than she would otherwise. Then she reaches the final arena and, pushing her hair out of her eyes, draws her sword, albeit shakily. The show must go on, after all, she can be sad when the cameras are off her. When all this attention dies down and she can just be alone...]

I'm... I'm ready to fight!

[Maybe.]

[On the bright side this is literally the corniest thing Kido has ever seen in her entire life.

On the dark side, this guy has been paid to do a job and a sad looking musician is not gonna stop him. He's gonna harass the hell out of her.]

[Those are some taunts, they are. Goodness. And everything is spinning, but not in a sick way more in a "this arena is weird" way. But she's not going to fall.

Momo steps onto the next ring in, towards him.]

S-Say what you will, but I'm going to put an end to you and save her! I prom- swear.

[If her sword arm will stop shaking, that is.]

[For being an actor this guy is hella into this. Kido's genuinely surprised. His attacks are almost brutal, if very staged.

She scowls, finding an extra fake sword and snatching it up. God she has to look so stupid right now...]

[The actual fighting starts and... Momo struggles from the start. She may have heart, she may have Hope, but good lord that doesn't make up for the fact that she doesn't know how to use a sword like at all. And didn't really think to practice much. And is still reeling from, y'know, the drowning thing.

So Kido joining the fray gets her a Very Relieved Smile from her girlfriend.]

Kido! I-If we work together, we can beat him!

[Kido's whapping the poor guy relentlessly the second Momo accepts her help. She remembers something similar... monsters, a girl with pigtails and guns. A competition? A video game.

But she ignores it. She's gotten good at ignoring this stuff.]

Just stay on your feet. I've got this. [She's not great at this, but damn is she too stubborn to lose.]

O-Okay! If you're sure.

[She doesn't want to leave it up to her, but... she kind of has to. All the spinning is starting to get to her, you know?]

Just be careful?

Which one of us is suppose to be rescuing which again? [She chuckles. It's just a dude in a costume and with the right decisive blow--

Yup. Down he goes.]

Hey, I got this far! That counts...

[And as the winner gets announced she's just gonna... bend over and take a breath. And cough a little. She's totally fine! Really!]

[Kido will give it to her, but the second the cameras are off them her forced smile melts and she goes to take Momo's shoulder.]

What's wrong?

[Momo grabs Kido's hand on reflex, then looks up at her.]

Bad, uh... bad memory. Really bad.

[blindfoldcode]

[Kido doesn't know exactly what really bad means, but she knows it can range anywhere from watching your entire village being destroyed to feeling yourself die.

She pulls Momo a little closer, not in a hug but in a way to shield her from anyone who might be coming to talk to her.]

... Let's get out of here. [Just a room off stage would be enough. She knows there's dressing rooms. She'll steer Momo to one.]

[Momo nods, not about to argue.]

Yeah. Okay.

[And she will follow Kido towards them, yup.]

[She sits her down in a seat the second she can.]

Is it something you can talk about?

I... I drowned?

[Saying it out loud sounds silly, since... you know, she's not. Dead and all that.]

I drowned. But I'm fine?

[blindfoldcode]

... In the challenge? [Kido really hopes she means in the challenge.]

No, I... I remembered drowning.

[She swallows.]

Because of the challenge.
